i crave a boxer and his lil baby doll plot where it’s filled with him training for matches, coming home with a constantly broken nose and bruises and then his sweet baby doll constantly worrying about him, patching him up, attending all his fights. then come the shouting matches of how they’re scared it might kill him or injure him permanently, the nights where he spends it running or pounding at a punching bag in the gym to keep their doubts far away. the lavish life after winning a match only to have to scrimp and barely get by to the next one someone give me this PLEASE

‘i can’t believe he cut us off.. i mean i can believe he cut me off, but you’re w i t h the guy you would think he’d at least let you—’ Caitlin gave Cisco a look, silencing him with it – thankfully. just because they were together now didn’t mean things were perfect, and perhaps she should’ve went about it better but CISCO WAS RIGHT, he needed to be careful. just because they’re together she’s not going to allow him to be reckless out there. it’s funny, she recalls telling barry she never wanted ronnie to be a hero, she just wanted him to be her husband. barry IS a hero, she knew that from the start. but she still wants him to come home to her. since they were cut off, all they could do was what’s the blip on the screen that is the flash, the moment vitals were spiking she tried the comms, but nothing. he didn’t turn them back on.

WHOOSH.

caitlin still hates when that happens. although after the first time it happened and he s c a r e d her because of the way he left being similar as to ronnie leaving & not coming back.. he hadn’t done it as much, not around her at least. except when leaving to go to a meta & returning but, not whooshing in her face.

eyes widen a the sight of blood. ‘’cisco!’’ she needn’t say more or he was there to support barry, while everything within her screamed to get to him she needed to prioritize, she needs to save his life and if he isn’t healing they have to find out why, and FAST. cisco helped barry down while she got the medical set. ‘’what happened?’’ everything on her features wanted to scold him, tell him THIS IS EXACTLY why they were worried and why he can’t just turn off the comms. but first things first. he went to face a meta but ends up with a bullet wound?? what did they miss?

everything inside him is BURNING - white hot pain like barry hasn’t felt in a very long time is spreading up from his wound in waves. a cry of pain escapes his lips as cisco helps barry to the medical table & hoists him onto it. a cough ripples from his lips & a spatter of blood covers his glove when he raises it to his mouth. his eyes widen & he looks around for caitlin - the one person he needs right now both emotionally & physically. he takes a sharp breath inwards & regrets it shortly after as another wave of pain comes over him.

‘ that meta...he wasn’t working alone. ’ he manages to cough the words out. ‘ he has...some kind of genius working on his team...they built a gun to -- AHH! ’ now the pain is stronger than ever, & finally he begins to worry. if it’s doing this much damage to him, then...anything could happen in this moment, & the last thing he said to cisco & caitlin was i don’t need you. ‘ they built a gun to stop me. i don’t -- know what exactly it does, but it’s slowing my healing and--- ’ he winces, stops talking so he can turn to look at cisco.

‘ i’m sorry. ’ he whispers, turning to meet caitlin’s eyes after those words. ‘ i...i didn’t mean what i said. i need you both. especially you. ’ his hand reaches out to touch caitlin’s arm. ‘ cait, i... ’ he pauses, considering what he’s about to say. though they’ve been together for a while, neither one of them has said they love each other yet. if i’m about to die...she needs to know. ‘ i love you. i always have. ’ with that said, he lies back down, another yell tearing from his mouth as the pain begins to get worse & worse. he can feel himself beginning to lose consciousness.

it’s not often that team flash have arguments -- but when they do, it seems to barry like it’s always because the others DISAGREE with his plan, despite the fact that it’s c l e a r l y the best option so that everyone involved comes out of it safe. except him, but that doesn’t matter -- not when the entire city is in danger. he’s taking a moment to cool off when he hears the door opening & slamming shut behind him. he glances over to see harry, & a long sigh escapes him. ‘ spare me the lecture, harry. i’ve heard enough. ’ barry returns his gaze to the floor in front of him, chewing on his lip. ‘ i don’t care what you guys say. i’m going through with this. it’s our only option & you KNOW it. ’

‘‘ right! that has been too long. I THINK the last time we had some time to ourselves was when i got drunk and made a fool out of myself, and found out that you’re a great singer. ‘‘ caitlin couldn’t help but smile as she thought back on doing karaoke together. ‘‘ i mean, we weren’t together then but.. ‘‘ shrugs, she had already established a crush on him by then. what can she say, he’s likeable. ‘‘ i had fun. ‘‘ in no way was she offering to do something similar now because there’s NO WAY she’s singing again. ‘‘ although we did do laser tag together with Cisco, that was incredible too. ‘‘ she adds. ‘‘ so what did you have in mind? ‘‘ she did not just yet let him go, she grew quite comfortable in this stance, his hands on her waist and her own around his neck. ‘‘ i know there’s this science fair? ‘‘ wasn’t that something he enjoys going to?

barry laughs softly at the memory. despite the fact that caitlin sees it as making a fool of herself, he found her adorable that night. & helping her towards the end of it was a surprisingly nice experience - taking care of the doctor herself is something he considers a privilege. ‘ it was a fun night. i wouldn’t say you made a fool of yourself, though. at least you weren’t dancing on tables. ’ he teases lightly, a grin forming on his features. ‘ i kicked your asses at laser tag, for the record.’ his hands move to the small of her back, rubbing soft circles there with his thumb. he doesn’t break eye contact with her the entire time - he feels an INTENSE connection between them as he does so, & revels in the feeling of pure joy that he gets from that. as soon as she mentions the science fair, his eyes widen & his features brighten. ‘ that’s a great idea! what time does it start? ’ not that there’s any chance of them being late what with his speed. barry makes a mental note to look for a gift there that he can buy her.
