Another flower I loved growing up in Jamaica is the ixora, little red or pink flowers that grow in bunches. Most children found out that you could suck on the stems of the plucked flowers to taste some sugary nectar.

I’ve had this idea for an illustration in my head for a while, based on the chenille or red hot cattail plant, which I used to love as a child growing up in Jamaica.

Kamarea, Aden and Maisi.
Man, these characters have been with me for a very long time. They’ve gone through a lot of changes and even had different names, but I still recognize them as the characters I drew in my sketchbooks when I was 14.

Whew! Finished. This was my first time rendering a non-color digital illustration so that was interesting, if not a bit frustrating (I love coloring) but this was supposed to be an old photograph so I went with sepia tone.
Featured in the photograph are these ladies from an earlier, happier time.

I wanted to draw some Piscans, one of the races that inhabit the world of Vessel. Piscans have two distinct sects: ones that hail from island shores and often migrate to the mainlands, and a more rarely-seen group that builds their society deep undersea. These guys are the former. They're really colorful, like tropical fish.
