Concert Concerns (Han Jisung X Reader)
Tumblr media
As I anxiously watched the concert footage for what seemed like the hundredth time, my mind was consumed with worry. The images and videos of him performing only added to my unease. I couldn't bear to sit still any longer and paused the video on my laptop. My hand instinctively reached for my phone, pulling up a contact that was all too familiar. But as I debated whether or not to call, doubts crept in, and I wondered if I was just being paranoid.
But then, with a resolute whisper to myself, "Frick it," I pressed the button and waited anxiously. The ringing stopped and I could hear shuffling on the other end before a voice I knew all too well answered, "(Y/N)? Hey, what's up?”
A small sigh of relief escaped me before I replied, "Hey Chris. Is Jisung with you right now?" The shuffling continued before he responded, "Um, no. Him and Minho went out to grab some takeout. Why do you ask?”
I shook my head, realizing he couldn't see me from the other end. "I just wanted to make sure he wasn't around when I asked you this. Actually, can we facetime?" A quick agreement came from the other end, and I switched over to facetime, needing that extra reassurance that everything was okay.
As the video call connected, Chris's concerned face filled the screen in a matter of seconds. I could see the worry etched into his features, and it mirrored my own as I began to speak.
"So, what's going on?" His voice was laced with genuine concern, and I took a deep breath before answering.
"That's what I wanted to ask you. I've been watching the footage from the concerts and fan meets you guys have been doing for the past couple of weeks, and Jisung looks...stressed. He hasn't smiled once." My fingers fidgeted nervously as I spoke, my eyes scanning over Chris's face for any sign of understanding or explanation.
"The only time he even attempts to grin is when he's around Minho. And when I ask him about it on our calls, he just says he's tired." My voice trailed off, unable to fully express my worries. The silence that followed felt heavy and suffocating, as if we were both struggling to find the right words to convey our concerns.
Chris let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair as he processed my words. The worry in his eyes deepened, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of something unfamiliar - fear.
"(Y/N), I've noticed it too," he finally admitted, his voice barely above a whisper as if afraid someone might overhear. "But it's not just exhaustion. There's something going on with Jisung, something... off.”
My heart clenched at his words, confirming the unsettling feeling that had been gnawing at me for days. "What do you mean, Chris? Has he said anything to you?" I urged, my mind racing with possibilities and dread.
Chris hesitated, chewing on his lower lip as he debated how much to reveal. "He... he's been having nightmares," he confessed slowly. "Nightmares that leave him shaking and sweating when he wakes up. And sometimes... sometimes he spaces out, like he's not really here.”
My fingers ran through my hair in frustration, the tips scratching against my scalp. My mind raced as I tried to process the words that Chris had just told me. We sat in tense silence, both lost in our own thoughts. Finally, I let out a deep sigh and looked at him with a weak smile on my lips. "I think I have a plan," I said, my voice wavering slightly. "But I'm going to need your help." Chris straightened up, his body language letting me know he was ready to listen and assist however he could. “So, here’s the plan.”
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
I looked out the window of the black SUV, sitting in silence with the boy’s manager as we drove to the concert hall, where the guys were performing. I was excited to see my boyfriend again after a whole year of not seeing each other in person, but the weight of the reason I was actually here had my stomach in knots.
I had already gone over my strategy with Chris during our phone call. I explained that I would fly to South Korea on the day of their next concert, not only to surprise Jisung but also to catch him off guard and get him to open up about what's been going on. While they are performing on stage for the first half of the show, their manager will discreetly bring me backstage. Then, during the intermission when they're changing outfits, I can finally spring my surprise on him.
The rest of the group was already aware of the plan, and they all quickly agreed to it. They were all concerned about him, but no one, not even Minho, knew what was causing his distress.
My thoughts were disrupted as we pulled up to the back gate. I squirmed in my seat out of anticipation, nervousness, and excitement. The parking lot was packed to the brim, fans that didn’t have tickets but still wanted to catch a glimpse of the boys were all piled outside the stadium.
I took in a deep breath to steady my racing heart as we stepped out of the SUV and were immediately met by security. They ushered us inside quickly, guiding us through the maze of hallways and corridors that led backstage. The distant sounds of the music and the crowd grew louder with each step, heightening my excitement and nerves.
As we approached the door to the backstage area, I could feel a surge of adrenaline coursing through me. This was it. The moment I had been waiting for—to finally see Jisung after what felt like an eternity and hopefully get to the bottom of whatever was troubling him.
The manager gave me a reassuring nod before opening the door, revealing a whirlwind of activity backstage. People hurried back and forth, carrying equipment and costumes, their voices blending into a chaotic symphony. I spotted familiar faces among the crew members, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and anticipation for the performance.
I followed closely behind the manager as he navigated through the backstage hustle and bustle, my heart pounding in my chest with each passing moment. The air was charged with nervous energy, a stark contrast to the cool exterior I tried to maintain. As we approached the boys' dressing room, my palms grew clammy, and I felt a lump form in my throat.
The manager gave a sharp knock on the door before gesturing for me to enter the room. As I stepped inside, my senses were immediately overwhelmed by the flurry of activity unfolding in front of me. The workers rushed around, making final preparations for when the boys would arrive to begin their performance. I positioned myself by the door, nervously waiting for their arrival. One by one they filtered into the room, starting with Jeongin whose contagious smile was the first thing that greeted me. He pulled me into a quick hug, offering a few words of encouragement before heading over to his stylist. Seungmin and Felix followed suit, offering warm hugs and words of greeting before joining Jeongin in getting ready. Minho and Chan were next, both flashing bright smiles as they caught sight of me and offered friendly greetings. Finally, Hyunjin, Changbin, and Jisung entered the room, with Jisung being the last to join us. His eyes were initially downcast but as soon as he looked up and saw me, he froze in surprise.
"Hi, Hannie," I spoke softly with a smile as I approached him. His shocked expression slowly morphed into tearful relief as he stood frozen in place. Without hesitation, I opened my arms and beckoned him towards me. He took hesitant steps forward until we were finally wrapped in a tight embrace. His arms clung tightly to my waist and his head buried in the crook of my neck. I wrapped one arm around his back and my other hand went into his now long curly hair. The warmth of his body against mine and the gentle rise and fall of his sobs comforted me in a way that words couldn't express. Tears streamed down his face, leaving wet trails on my skin as I rubbed soothing circles on his back. Despite the circumstances that brought us together, being able to finally hold him in my arms brought a sense of peace and completeness that had been missing for far too long. My own tears threatened to spill as I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tightly. After nearly a year apart, the relief of finally being able to physically see each other was overwhelming. But in that moment, my focus was on comforting and cheering him up. I pushed aside my own emotions to be there for him. Our reunion was like a bittersweet embrace, filled with joy and sadness all at once.
Jisung's sobs eventually subsided, and he pulled back slightly to look at me with tear-stained eyes. "I didn't know you were coming," he whispered, his voice raw with emotion. His vulnerability tore at my heart, and I cupped his face in my hands, gently wiping away his tears with my thumb.
"I wanted to surprise you," I replied, my voice soft and reassuring. "But more importantly, I wanted to be here for you. Chris told me about the nightmares, about how you've been struggling.”
Jisung's eyes widened in surprise, a flicker of fear passing through them before he quickly masked it with a forced smile. "It's nothing, really," he muttered, avoiding my gaze. But I saw through his facade, recognizing the walls he had built around himself.
I gently placed my hands on his face and looked into his eyes. Our time together in person was always too short, but I could read him like a book just by studying the expression on his face. And right now, it was clear that something was bothering him deeply. With a concerned tone, I asked, "What's really going on? I know we don’t get to see each other in person very much but I can see it in your face.”
Jisung hesitated, his gaze flickering between my eyes as if searching for an answer to my question. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again, the internal struggle evident on his face. I could feel the weight of his unspoken words hanging heavily in the air, a barrier between us that begged to be broken.
Finally, he let out a long sigh, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "I don't even know where to start," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's like... like I'm drowning in my own thoughts, and I can't seem to find a way out.”
My heart ached at his words, at the raw vulnerability in his voice. I reached out and took his hand in mine, offering what little comfort I could. "You don't have to face this alone," I reassured him, my voice gentle yet firm. "We'll figure this out together. Just start from the beginning.”
Jisung's grip tightened around mine, his eyes searching mine for any sign of judgement or rejection. Finding none, he took a deep breath and began to speak, his words tumbling out in a rush as if he had been holding them in for too long.
“It started about a month ago,” he confessed, his voice wavering from emotion. “I thought it was just stress from our hectic schedule, but then… then the nightmares began.” His grip on my hand tightened even more, as if anchoring himself to reality.
I hesitated before asking him, "What were you having nightmares about?" He took a deep breath before answering, "It's pretty silly, actually." "Jisung, it's not silly if it's affecting you." I looked into his eyes and urged him to tell me. "They were about us breaking up. About how I wasn't good enough for you. Not seeing you in person for so long has really gotten to me. I'm constantly afraid that we won't last because our relationship is difficult. We live in different countries and my work keeps me busy all the time. I wish I could hold you every day, take you out on dates, and have movie nights together like a normal couple. And on top of everything, my stressful schedule and social anxiety only been adding to the stress.”
Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to Jisung pour his heart out. His words cut through me, exposing the depth of his fears and insecurities. I squeezed his hand tighter, a silent promise that I wasn't going anywhere.
"You are more than enough, Jisung," I said, my voice unwavering. "Our love is stronger than any distance or obstacle. I don't need fancy dates or constant physical presence to know how much you mean to me. You, just the way you are, are everything I've ever wanted.”
His eyes searched mine, as if seeking the truth in my words. I brought his hand to my lips, placing a gentle kiss on his knuckles. "I love you for who you are, for your passion and dedication, for the way you light up a room with your smile. And I'll be here every step of the way, helping you navigate through the darkness until we find the light together.”
Jisung's eyes glistened with unshed tears, his walls crumbling under the weight of my love and reassurance. His grip on my hand softened, allowing vulnerability to seep through as he gazed at me with a mixture of gratitude and disbelief. "I don't know what I did to deserve you," he whispered, his voice barely audible in the bustling room. "But I'm grateful every day that you're in my life.”
A smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I leaned in to press a soft kiss to his forehead. "You don't have to 'deserve' love, Jisung. It's freely given, unconditionally." The weight of his burdens seemed to ease slightly as he took a shaky breath, his gaze locked with mine in a silent conversation that spoke volumes.
As the final touches were made for the boys' performance, Jisung and I found solace in our own little world amidst the chaos surrounding us. The loud clamor of last-minute preparations and excited chatter faded into a distant buzz as we gazed into each other's eyes. A sudden urge to confess swept over me, and I leaned in closer.
"You know I wanted to wait to tell you this, but now that we're talking about it, I think it's time." Jisung's expression shifted from confusion to curiosity, his eyes searching mine for answers. Suppressing a giggle, I continued.
"I'm moving to Seoul in two weeks." His reaction was priceless - his eyes widened like saucers and a wide grin spread across his face. "What?! Why?" I couldn't help but laugh at his eagerness, catching the attention of the others around us. Biting my lip, I tried not to give away my excitement. It had been my secret plan to surprise them all with this news.
"Well, apparently the Stray Kids' graphic designer for your team is leaving due to family reasons, so they were looking for someone new. And JYP remembered that I am a graphic designer from when I visited you at the company last time, so they contacted me about the job last month." Jisung's already bright smile grew even bigger - something I didn't think was possible.
"Wait, so not only are you moving to the same city as me, but we'll be working together every day too?" His excitement was contagious, and I couldn't help but nod eagerly. In excitement, he picked me up and spun me around. I squealed in surprise but laughed and told him to put me down. As he put me down, I heard cheers of excitement behind us.
The rest of the group had gathered around, their faces filled with joy at the unexpected news. Chan was the first to hug us both, his enthusiasm infectious as he congratulated us on our new adventure. Changbin and Hyunjin soon followed suit, their teasing and playful banter bringing laughter to the group. Felix’s eyes sparkled with happiness as he enveloped us in a warm embrace, his excitement palpable. Seungmin and Jeongin were practically bouncing on their feet, unable to contain their joy at the prospect of me joining their team. The room was filled with elation and love, a sense of unity and togetherness that bounded us all like family.
Despite my desire to continue our private moment, the cheers from the audience were growing louder and more insistent. "As much as I would love to stay here with you," I interjected, raising my voice over the joyful noise, "you guys need to get back on stage." My arm swept out to encompass the rest of the band members. A chorus of affirmative responses filled the air as they began hurrying towards the stage. Turning to face Jisung, my eyes took in his disheveled appearance, and I couldn't help but smile. "And you," I said, lightly poking his chest with my finger, "need to freshen up before your performance." Giving me a small salute and a firm ‘yes ma’am’ he leaned in for a quick kiss before being whisked away by his stylist. Assuring him I would be in the crowd watching, I watched him go with a fond gaze.
The rest of the night was a blur of excitement and chaos. Jisung was back to his usual energetic and playful self, and it brought me immense joy to see him enjoying himself so much. As I stood among the cheering fans, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this life and this moment with my love by my side. Everything seemed perfect in that moment.

Chapter 6: Roller Coaster Of Emotions
Zena's POV ------------------------------
The towering entrance sign loomed over us, splashed with vibrant colors, each letter glowing with neon lights. It was impossible to miss, standing tall and proud, a shining beacon of excitement and adventure.
Piercing screams filled the air, blending with the mechanical roars of the roller coasters. My senses were overwhelmed by the tantalizing scent of freshly made funnel cakes wafting through the bustling theme park. Looking over at my friends, I couldn't help but smirk at their awestruck reactions. Jisung, in particular, was like a child on Christmas day, jumping up and down in excitement. A grin spread across my face as I watched his infectious joy.
"Welcome to Fiesta Texas, amigos!" I exclaimed with a thick Spanish accent, spinning around with my arms out to emphasize our surroundings. The vibrant colors and bustling energy of the amusement park had me buzzing with excitement for the day ahead. I could hardly contain my eagerness to dive into the adventures that awaited us.
Eagerly, the group of boys followed Zara and I through the long line of buzzing people, all waiting with anticipation to have their tickets checked. Weaving between them, I felt a surge of excitement bubble up within me. Turning to the person behind me, I was met with Chan's familiar face. With a spring in my step, I couldn't contain myself as I jumped up and down, "I haven't been here in years, I'm so thrilled to be back!”
Next to me, I heard Zara let out a frustrated sigh and saw her delicate features twist into a grimace. "The last time I came here was with my ex and his family two years ago," she grumbled irritably. I couldn't help but snort at her comment, "And that's why I'm glad I've never dated anyone," I stated with a pointed look at her. She responded with a playful roll of her eyes and mimicked my words with a sour expression on her face. The memories of her past relationship clearly still haunted her, but for me, this place held nothing but fond memories and excitement for the present moment.
“You haven’t dated anyone?” Chan's eyes sparkled with curiosity and what looked like a hint of hopefulness as he asked me about my dating history. I could see his lips twitch into a playful smile. I let out a small pop from my lips before shaking my head firmly. "Nope!" I exclaimed, determined to stick to my answer. Chan raised an eyebrow skeptically. "And you're 21? Surely, you've had your first kiss," he prodded. Once again, I shook my head, feeling a sense of pride in my choice. My space buns threatened to come undone as I moved, adding to the chaos of our conversation. "Nope! And I plan on keeping it that way until I find the right person." My words were met with a mixture of surprise and admiration from Chan, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement at the thought of eventually sharing these experiences with someone special.
Changbin releases a low whistle beside Chan, his eyes widening in impressed disbelief at my bold statement. "I've never met someone with such unwavering commitment," he remarks, admiration coloring his tone.
Han joins us, casually draping himself over the shoulders of Chan and Changbin. His confident stance and smug grin convey that he has something to contribute to our conversation. "I can make that happen," he declares with a knowing glint in his eye.
I raise a skeptical eyebrow and cross my arms, unimpressed by Han's feeble attempt at flirtation. "Are you seriously asking to be my boyfriend, Han?" I ask, struggling to contain my disbelief.
He leans in closer to me, his lips curving up into a flirtatious smirk. His tone dripping with confidence as he continues, "Would you say yes if I was?"
For a split second, I'm caught off guard by the boldness of his words. But then a mischievous smile spreads across my face as I decide to play along.
I toy with him for a moment, batting my eyelashes and smiling coyly before delivering the final blow. "No. Nice try though."
Changbin, Chan, and Zara erupted into fits of laughter at my flat rejection. Their joyous laughs echoed through the line, filling it with an infectious energy that was hard to resist. Jisung’s mouth hung open in utter shock, his eyes wide in disbelief. His hand was dramatically placed over his heart as he pouted in mock hurt, his expression comically exaggerated.
"Zena," he declared, playfully drawing out my name. "You wound me." His tone was playful and teased, but there was a hint of genuine disappointment hidden beneath the humor.
"What's wrong with dating me?" he continued, eyebrow raised mischievously. "There are so many stays that would’ve jumped at that opportunity.”
Rolling my eyes in amusement, I replied, "It's not because I don’t find you attractive." My gaze swept over his handsome features before settling back on his sparkling eyes. "Let's be real, everyone in Stray Kids is drop dead gorgeous." A smile tugged at the corners of my lips. "I just feel like our personalities are too similar." I paused for a moment, thinking carefully before adding, "I have a feeling we would clash heads later down the line." As I spoke, I moved up in the line and pulled out our tickets.
Changbin's intense, dark eyes flickered towards Chan, then back to me. His expression was curious, but I could sense a hint of mischief lurking beneath the surface. As he spoke, his voice dripped with sly amusement. "Well then," he said coolly, "who do you believe would be your ideal type among us?" My heart raced at the question, and I couldn't help but feel flustered. I glanced anxiously at Chan, wondering what he would think if I admitted my true feelings in front of him. My eyes darted around the room, avoiding direct eye contact. After a moment of hesitation, I finally mumbled out my answer. "I-I think Chan would be my ideal type," I reluctantly confessed, my voice barely above a whisper as I hoped he didn't hear me. Gathering up my courage, I turned to face Chan and gauged his reaction. To my surprise, his eyes went wide and his lips parted in shock. Panicked at his expression, I rushed to explain my reasoning behind choosing him. "Be-because of his assertiveness and natural leadership skills," I stumbled over my words, trying to justify my choice. "Those are qualities that I lack and struggle with. I feel like he could complement me well and keep me grounded when things get too chaotic." A small smile tugged at the corners of my mouth as I spoke about him, unable to hide my admiration for him. "But he's not just serious all the time either," I added with a nervous laugh. "He knows how to have fun and make me laugh. And...I should probably stop talking now."
Chan's almond-shaped eyes widened in surprise and I could see a hint of something else, perhaps curiosity or interest, glinting in their depths. As my hurried explanation spilled out, a slow smile spread across his face, revealing deep dimples that only added to his charm. "Well, Zena," he began in a warm, gentle voice, "I must say I'm flattered by your choice." His gaze shifted to Changbin and the others standing nearby before returning to me with a playful glint in his eye. "And you're not too bad yourself," he teased, causing Jisung to let out a low wolf whistle beside me. My cheeks grew hot with a mix of embarrassment and delight at his words. Just as I was about to respond, the ticket person called out "Next!" and I hastily made my way over, grateful for the distraction from our flirtatious banter.
As we approached the entrance gate, the vibrant colors and music of Fiesta Texas enveloped us. A park attendant greeted us with a beaming smile, "Welcome to Fiesta Texas! Enjoy your day!" they exclaimed, handing each of us a map adorned with whimsical illustrations.
I eagerly unfolded the map, my eyes scanning all the attractions scattered across the park. "Okay, so what would y’all like to do first, guys?" I asked.
Felix's finger glided across the map, tracing out a route for us to follow. "How about we start with the roller coasters, then move on to some games? And of course, we can't forget about snacks in between," he proposed.
Zara nodded her head in agreement. "Definitely have to try the Iron Rattler first. It's got that insane drop everyone talks about," she added with a mischievous grin.
Han chimed in, "And after that, we can cool off with some games."
My heart raced with excitement at our well-planned day ahead. "Perfect plan! Let's make it happen!”
Following Felix's plan, our group moved with determination through the teeming park. The joyful chatter and infectious laughter of other park-goers echoed all around us as we strode purposefully towards the first roller coaster. My heart fluttered with excitement and my feet couldn't stop bouncing in anticipation of the thrilling ride ahead. A wide grin spread across my face, mirroring the exhilaration coursing through my body. As we neared the ride, a chorus of screams and cheers erupted from those already on board, heightening our anticipation and adding to the electric atmosphere.
The queue for the Iron Rattler stretched out in front of us, snaking through the bustling amusement park with twists and turns. Our group entertained ourselves with jokes and stories, our laughter ringing out and intertwining with the screams and cheers of other thrill-seekers. Jisung, ever the flirt, continued to try and win me over with his playful antics, but Minho was quick to give him a smack on the head. Meanwhile, Zara and I engaged in a spirited battle of patty-cake, our hands moving at lightning speed as we tried to outlast each other. With a triumphant grin, Zara emerged victorious as I stumbled and laughed along.
Finally reaching the front of the line, I turned to the group with a mischievous glint in my eye as we boarded our cars. Chan eagerly took the seat next to me, his face lit up with excitement. He turned to give me a wide grin, and I couldn't help but respond with a cheesy smile of my own as I asked, "You ready?". He nodded fervently, his energy infectious. "Bring it on!" he exclaimed, anticipation bubbling within both of us.
As our cart began its ascent, a powerful gust of wind whipped through my hair and caused uncontrollable laughter to burst from my lips. The twisting and turning of the roller coaster elicited a mixture of fear and exhilaration, which only amplified our joyous cries. But as we approached a particularly sharp drop, I couldn't help but notice Chan's discomfort as his face contorted.
Amused, I took his hand in mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze. Another drop came and he instinctively squeezed back, seeking comfort in our connection.
Finally, with screeching brakes, the ride came to an end and Chan quickly extended his arm in front of me to prevent me from jerking forward. My heart skipped a beat at this small gesture, but I brushed it off with a grin spread across my face. Turning to Chan, my cheeks flushed and my eyes sparkling, I couldn't contain my excitement as I exclaimed, "That was incredible!”
He nodded in agreement, still feeling the rush of adrenaline coursing through our veins. "Most definitely one for the books," he replied with dimples poking out as he smiled.
As we emerged from the ride, our group was a whirlwind of exhilaration and joy. The wind screamed through our hair and our cheeks were flushed with the rush of adrenaline. My legs felt wobbly as I stumbled out of the cart, heart still pounding in my chest. Amidst the chaos, I heard bursts of laughter from our group. I glanced over at Chan to see him looking at me bewildered. A lock of his hair stood straight up, defying gravity. Suppressing a giggle, I realized I should probably help him fix it before anyone else sees it.
I gestured for him to come over to me, and with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension, he made his way towards me. Like a hesitant deer, he moved cautiously but eagerly towards me. I stood on my tiptoes, feeling the warm sun on my face as I reached up to playfully ruffle his hair. My heart skipped a beat at the closeness, my cheeks flushing at the thought of his proximity.
I could feel his steady breaths on my skin, and I couldn't help but wonder if he could hear the rapid thumping of my heart. But instead of looking into his eyes, which I knew would only make me more flustered, I focused on the soft strands of his hair between my fingers. After a few playful tugs, I stepped back to my regular height, trying to calm down from the adrenaline rush.
"All better!" I declared with an enthusiastic smile, causing the rest of the group to burst into another round of laughter at Chan's dazed expression. His eyes were wide with surprise before they crinkled into a happy grin, joining in on the laughter himself.
As our laughter subsided, Hyunjin posed the question, "Which ride next?" Han and Minho eagerly pointed to the one across from us, reading 'The Joker', their voices rising in unison as they chanted, "That one! That one!" I couldn't help but smile at their unwavering excitement. But when I turned my head to see the ride they were pointing at, my heart sank. The towering metal structure loomed over us, its neon lights flashing in a dizzying pattern.
As we got closer to the ride and everyone started to get in line, I hesitated by the entrance. My mind flooded with memories of the last time I had ridden it - the stomach-churning drops and spins that left me feeling sick for hours.
"Come on, don't tell me you're backing out now, what happened to being tired of fearing everything?" Chan teased with a playful grin. I rolled my eyes and retorted, "No way. This isn't about fear, it's about not feeling sick to my stomach for hours after. Y’all have fun. I’m going to sit this one out." I leaned against a nearby fence, trying to ignore the excited screams coming from the riders above.
“Are you sure?” Felix asked as he stopped walking for a second. His concerned gaze met mine. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. You guys go ahead and have fun,” I reassured him with a smile. Secretly relieved to have an excuse to avoid the ride once again.
Chan let out a hearty chuckle and strolled over to where I was standing, his footsteps echoing through the small distance between us. "Well then, looks like I'll be keeping you company down here. Wouldn't want you to be all alone," he said with a grin, his brown eyes sparkling mischievously. My eyebrows shot up in surprise before I couldn't help but laugh and lightly nudge him with my elbow. “You don't have to do that. Go ahead and enjoy the ride with everyone else," I urged, a tinge of disbelief in my voice. But he just shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "I don't mind. We can keep each other company while they're gone," he replied nonchalantly.
A wave of warmth flooded through me, and I couldn't help but smile gratefully at him. "Thanks, Chris. That really means a lot to me," I said softly. He simply nodded, a small gesture that spoke volumes more than words ever could.
As our friends eagerly joined the line for 'The Joker', Chan and I retreated to a quiet spot away from the bustling crowds. We found a quaint picnic table and settled there, the sounds of excited screams and laughter fading into a distant hum.
We sat in peaceful silence, taking in the sights and sounds around us. My normally bubbly energy had shifted into a more contemplative state as I gazed at the people passing by. Suddenly, I felt compelled to share a random fact with Chan.
"Want to hear something interesting?" I asked, breaking the stillness between us.
I heard him hum in response as I continued, "The Iron Rattler roller coaster we just rode used to be made entirely out of wood. So when you rode it, the whole structure shook! Pretty scary, huh?”
He nodded in agreement, his eyes wide with disbelief.
We lapsed back into comfortable silence for a few more minutes before he tentatively spoke again.
"Hey, Zena," he said softly, breaking the calmness once more. I turned to face him, meeting his gaze with curiosity.
"What's on your mind, Chris?" I asked calmly.
He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. His eyes shone with sincerity as he spoke, "I just wanted to tell you that I’ve really enjoyed spending time with you today and yesterday." A genuine grin spread across his face, lighting up his features. My gaze softened under his gaze, and I could feel the faint warmth of a blush creeping onto my cheeks.
"Really?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper as I leaned closer to him, drawn in by his words.
My heart pounded in my chest as I waited for his reply, my pulse racing with anticipation. "Yeah," he finally replied, his words sending a surge of warmth through me. "I feel like we've really connected, you know? It's been... nice." My smile widened, my eyes sparkling like stars as gratitude and nostalgia washed over me.
In that moment, under the glow of the sun, it felt like time stood still and it was just the two of us. Him, with his sincere words, and me, soaking up every bit of this rare and precious moment.
"Honestly," he continued, his voice tinged with sincerity, "you've given us a taste of something we rarely get to experience - feeling like normal people. We're constantly caught up in the whirlwind of rehearsals, concerts, and fan meetings, that sometimes it's easy to forget what it's like to just live day-to-day. So, thank you for this chance to explore and live like locals for a week."
I nodded in understanding, my expression softening as I took in the beauty of this unexpected connection. And then, without thinking, my voice cut through the tense silence, breaking the tension like a knife slicing through butter. "As much as I am an admirer of y'all," I spoke up, my eyes flickering with determination and empathy, "I also recognize that you are all human beings, with your own share of emotions, feelings, insecurities, and limits. So in situations like this, I always find myself asking 'how would I want to be treated?'." A small shrug accompanied my words as I observed the atmosphere in front of us, sensing the weight lifted off their shoulders.
A wide, genuine smile lit up his face as he gazed at the formidable roller coaster looming in front of us. The vibrant hues of green and yellow adorned its towering structure, promising an exhilarating and heart-pumping ride. "Besides," I nudged him playfully with my shoulder, "we just started our week of fun. No need to get all sentimental on me."
My mischievous eyes sparkled as I watched him, daring him to let go of any reservations and join me in embracing the moment. With a grin, he returned my nudge gently, matching my playful energy. "You're right, there's no time for sappiness when there's still so much excitement waiting for us," he replied, his voice light with laughter.
As our friends soared through the air on 'The Joker', their screams of exhilaration mingling with the mechanical whirs and clicks of the ride, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment settle within me. Chan and I sat side by side on the bench, enjoying each other's company in comfortable silence while taking in the joyous atmosphere around us.
Suddenly, a burst of contagious laughter drew our attention to our group as they disembarked from the ride, faces flushed with adrenaline and thrill. Han and Minho were animatedly recounting their favorite moments from the ride while Hyunjin sported a wide grin that reached his eyes. A swell of warmth filled my heart as I looked at them, grateful I was able to get to know them on a more personal level.
As our friends approached us with infectious enthusiasm, still buzzing from the roller coaster ride, I stood up from the bench with a mischievous gleam in my eye. "Ready for round 2?" I teased Chan while giving him a playful nudge. He rolled his eyes in mock exasperation but couldn't hide his own amusement as a smirk tugged at his lips.
Hyunjin's hand slapped against Chan's back, an excited laugh escaping his lips as he scanned the brightly lit amusement park for their next thrill. He spoke rapid Korean, his eyes shining with anticipation. I couldn't help but chuckle at his infectious enthusiasm.
As a group, we spent the entire day darting from one ride to the next, our energy never waning as we eagerly sought out the most exhilarating experiences. The atmosphere of the amusement park was electrifying, with screams of excitement and flashing lights filling the air. We rode roller coasters that twisted and turned through the sky, spun on teacup rides until our heads spun, and tested our skills at carnival games.
Feeling mischievous, Zara and I decided to show off some hidden talents as we played various games. Our group's reactions were priceless as I effortlessly hit bullseye after bullseye during axe throwing, while Zara impressed everyone with her skills in archery - which led to a hilarious challenge from Felix that ended in utter defeat.
As the sun began its descent below the horizon and the crowds dispersed, we finally took a much-needed break from the carnival chaos. We settled at a quaint table, adorned with an array of delectable treats that we bought at a bunch of different booths.
The once-deafening sounds of laughter and screams faded into the distance as we relished in this moment of respite. The golden light of the setting sun cast a soft glow over our faces, highlighting the contentment etched onto each one.
I let out a satisfied sigh as I indulged in another bite of my luscious caramel apple, savoring the sticky sweetness that dripped down my fingers. In my other hand, I absentmindedly fiddled with the plush wolf Chan had won and insisted I keep.
"I can't wait to see what you have planned for us tomorrow, Zena!" Seungmin exclaimed with genuine excitement.
With a lazy grin, I replied, "It may not be as thrilling as today, but I guarantee it will still be filled with enjoyment." Our group was surrounded by the comforting murmur of conversation and laughter, basking in the warmth and happiness of a perfect day spent together.
As the sky slowly transformed from a vibrant blue to a deep purple, the twinkling lights of the amusement park began to illuminate like stars in the night sky. A sense of peace settled over our group as we sat on a bench, soaking in the beauty and wonder of it all.
A mischievous glint danced in my eyes as I leaned in closer to the group, my voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper that only they could hear. "I have a surprise for all of you tomorrow," I announced, my lips curling into a mysterious smile. "But for now, it's a secret. You'll just have to wait and see.”
Excitement and curiosity rippled through our group, each of us exchanging eager glances and murmuring about what the surprise could possibly be. Some complained about their hatred for surprises, while others began speculating with animated gestures.
The night air was filled with anticipation and excitement as we snacked on funnel cakes and cotton candy, sharing stories from our day at the park. Our laughter mingled with the distant sounds of children's laughter and thrilling rides under the enchanting glow of the moonlit sky.
The warm, summer air was thick with excitement as we said our farewells to the amusement park, the exhilarating memories still fresh in our minds. As I led the way back to the parking lot, my steps were light and bouncy, my eyes dancing with mischief as I teased Hyunjin about his failed attempts at winning a giant stuffed bear at the ring toss game. The fading light of the setting sun painted the streets in vivid shades of orange and pink, creating a dreamlike atmosphere around us.
As we strolled towards our SUV's, the vibrant energy of our group was evident in every step. Hyunjin seemed to have had enough of my teasing and headed over to Felix and Jeongin, so I decided to playfully pester my sister instead. With a mischievous grin on my face, I snuck up behind her and pretended I was going to jump on her back. She let out a high-pitched scream that almost sounded fake as she stumbled forward, but then burst into laughter as she realized it was just me.
The sound of her laughter was like music to my ears, and I couldn’t help but join in, feeling the joy bubbling up inside of me. Zara turned around, her eyes sparkling with mirth as she playfully swatted my arm, “You scared me, Zena! I thought you were some crazy park mascot trying to kidnap me.” she teased, a wide grin lighting up her face. “Ha ha, very funny Zara.”, I said as I playfully rolled my eyes and linked our arms together.
Zara swayed next to me as we walked, the rest of our group had already moved ahead. "So..." she started, a mischievous smirk on her lips. "You and Chan?" I rolled my eyes and lowered my voice. "Zara, are you kidding me? One, they're all right there and two, they're celebrities that live on the other side of the world."
"God, Zena, sometimes you can be so dense," she stated exasperated. "He's been intentionally sitting next to you and talking to you all day. And don't think I didn't see what you were doing when Binnie asked you that question earlier in the ticket line." I could feel my cheeks flush at the mention of the embarrassing moment. "Since when do you call him Binnie? That's a fan thing and you don't even like Kpop." I tried to change the subject, but Zara wasn't having it. "He told me to call him that and stop changing the subject." With a sigh, I admitted, "I didn't do anything. I was hesitant to even answer his question, but then I thought 'heck, what do I have to lose?'" My words trailed off as we neared the car. "It's not like I'll ever see them again after this week anyway. I just want to go with the flow and see what happens." Zara sighed and whispered an uncertain "okay", but added, "I hope you know what you're doing." We stopped behind the rest of the group as they loaded into the SUVs.
As we climbed into the vehicles, Zara purposefully shoved me towards the back, claiming her spot in the front seat. I settled into my seat, trying to ignore the tense conversation between Zara and myself. Desperately, I searched for a distraction by turning towards the backseat, where part of the group was scattered across the car. My eyes scanned each person, avoiding lingering too long on Chan who sat beside me. I noticed that Changbin and Hyunjin had switched cars, leaving Jisung and Lee Know in their place. The soft hum of the engine filled the silence as we began our journey to our destination.
The car ride was filled with a comfortable quiet, the fatigue of the day settling on our shoulders as the excitement of the amusement park slowly faded into a pleasant memory. Through the window, I watched the world outside transform into a blur of city lights and passing buildings, each marking our progression away from the vibrant chaos of the carnival.
Chan's presence beside me was a subtle warmth, his occasional glances in my direction not going unnoticed. I caught snippets of conversation from the front seat where Zara was engaged in lively banter with Veronica, their laughter filtering through the space between us. Despite the unease lingering beneath my skin, I found solace in the gentle hum of the car and the knowledge that we were headed back to my car at the office.
As we navigated through the winding streets, the familiar sights of our surroundings grew more vivid. I thought about all the fun memories we would share in the following days to come. And maybe even something a little more than a friendship would blossom.

Sorry it took a little longer for me to release this chapter. I felt like the last chapter was a little rushed so I wanted to carefully think about where I wanted to go with this one.

Chapter 5: Table Talk
Zena's POV ------------------------------
A loud huff escaped my lips as I skimmed through the virtual paperwork, my blue light glasses perched on my nose to ease the strain of staring at a screen. As if sensing my annoyance, Zara let out a long, exaggerated sigh from her swivel chair next to me. I turned my head to see her spinning aimlessly, clearly bored out of her mind. Her long blonde hair cascaded down her back in perfect ringlets, a stark contrast to my messy space buns.
For what felt like the hundredth time in the past half hour, Zara's impatience bubbled over and she asked again, "When are we leaving?"
Suppressing a sigh, I hit the "submit" button on my computer and turned to face her. She was sitting upright in her chair, her body taut with anticipation.
"I already told you," I said through gritted teeth, frustration lacing my voice, "I needed to come into the office before the guys pick us up."
The only sounds in the empty office were the soft clicks of my keyboard as I finished up some last-minute tasks and Zara's incessant tapping on her phone screen. My own urgency to leave grew with each passing minute. I had promised my father that I would take care of the usual paperwork and then spend the day showing the boys around town.
Zara peeked at me from the corner of her eye before finally lifting her head to look at me fully. "I know. I just didn't think time would pass so slowly," she whined, her impatience evident in every word. Despite myself, I smiled at her dramatics and turned back to my computer.
"I'm honestly surprised you wanted to come with me," I remarked casually, trying not to let my amusement show too much.
With a grimace and an eye roll, she retorted, "I may not be a fan of K-pop, but I'll take any excuse to escape chores at home and have some fun in town. Plus, who knows? Maybe I'll make some new friends."
I glanced at the time on my computer screen, "Well, you're in luck. They should be arriving any moment now. And I just finished sending off my last report," I said with a sense of relief.
Last night, after returning home late from the restaurant, my sister- who was barely awake- asked me how it went. Not wanting to keep her up for too long, as she looked like she could pass out at any moment, I gave her a brief summary of the evening's events. When I mentioned that I would be showing the guys around town for the week, she perked up and became suddenly interested. In amusement, I asked if she wanted to join us, knowing she had the next day off. To my surprise and not-so-surprise, she eagerly agreed, stating that exploring with us sounded much more appealing than doing chores.
My mind was suddenly pulled back to reality by the familiar buzz of my phone. I glanced down at the screen to see a text from Chan, saying they had arrived outside. "Looks like our ride is here, Zara," I announced, rising from my seat and removing my glasses. She sprang up eagerly, snatching her purse and whispering a relieved "finally." The excitement in her voice was evident as we made our way towards the door, eager to start our day of fun.
Stepping out into the crisp morning air, we were greeted by two sleek black SUV's stationed in front of the building. A rush of excitement filled me as I turned back to lock the office for the time being. Zara and I made our way towards the vehicles, eager to begin our journey. One of the drivers emerged from their door, revealing a familiar face - Veronica.
"Good morning, Zena," she greeted with a warm smile.
"Morning, Veronica! Did you manage to get the tickets?" I asked eagerly.
She nodded, her smile growing wider as she reassured me that everything was ready just as we had discussed over the phone last night. With a smile, she opened the door for us and we climbed into the spacious interior. I settled into the passenger seat while Zara took her place in the bucket seat behind mine. As I strapped on my seatbelt, I turned around to greet our companions for the day.
"Morning, guys! Did you all sleep well?" My words were met with a chorus of responses ranging from "yes" to "kind of". I couldn't help but notice that Chan, Felix, Changbin, and Hyunjin were the only ones present in this particular SUV. Glancing towards the other vehicle, I realized that the rest of our group must be riding in it.
With a small nod of recognition, I turned to Felix. "I know you already know her, but for those who may be wondering who this mysterious girl is that just hopped in the car with us, allow me to introduce my sister, Zara," I announced with a slight flourish of my hand. Zara greeted everyone with a friendly wave and a bright smile, saying a quick 'hey' to each person. Felix responded with a warm "nice to see you again" while the others offered variations of "hello", "hi", or "nice to meet you". The atmosphere in the car was filled with warmth and acceptance, as if Zara had been with me last night.
Hyunjin's voice broke the silence of the car as he leaned forward from the backseat. "So, what's on the agenda for today?" I couldn't help but grin mischievously, my plans already set in motion. Veronica revved the engine and we were off.
"Well," I drawled out, relishing in their anticipation, "first stop is lunch at Whiskey Cake. And as for our afternoon activity...that's for me to know and you to find out." The groans that followed only made me smile wider. Zara and Veronica joined in with giggles of their own.
"I'm just glad I get to spend this drive with all of you instead of Jisung," I chuckled, wiping away invisible sweat from my brow. We all knew how persistent Jisung could be when it came to prying information out of people. As if on cue, Changbin mumbled from the back seat, "Where's Jisung when you actually need him?"
I shook my head with a laugh and turned to Veronica. "Is the aux Bluetooth or do I need to plug it in?" With a smile, she explained that it was Bluetooth, and I promptly connected my sister's phone. She always took control of the music in my car, so it had become a habit to let her.
She scrolled through her playlist, contemplating what to play. The car was filled with an excited buzz, and the anticipation for the day's adventures was thick. As the first few notes of a catchy pop tune filled the air, Zara couldn't help but join in on the infectious energy radiating from the others.
The highway stretched out endlessly ahead, bordered by towering buildings that mirrored the modernity of the music blaring from our car's speakers. The wind whipped through our hair, providing relief from the scorching Texas heat.
As we cruised down the well-known road, my eyes couldn't help but steal glances at Chan. His gaze was fixed on the passing scenery, a serene smile playing at his lips. I then turned to Zara and caught her giving me a knowing look. With a subtle thumbs up, she mouthed "he's cute" which had me blushing furiously.
My mind was a flurry of thoughts and reflections on everything that had transpired thus far, as we finally arrived at the restaurant. The car doors slid open with a satisfying click, and we all emerged from the vehicle, stretching after the long ride. I couldn't help but smile as the other guys climbed out of their own SUV and joined us. Each one received a warm welcome from me, just as I had greeted the others before, and I introduced them to Zara with genuine enthusiasm. After exchanging greetings, we began our walk towards the impressive building in front of us.
As soon as we stepped inside the charming Whisky Cake Restaurant, the delicious scent of freshly baked bread enveloped us. The sound of glasses clinking, and lively chatter filled the air, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The hostess greeted us with a genuine smile, leading us to a spacious table near the window. Sunlight spilled in, casting a gentle glow on our faces and illuminating the rustic wooden beams that adorned the ceiling.
I took my seat at the table as Zara sat across from me, laughing at one of Minho's jokes. They had been getting along well so far much to my surprise. On either side of Zara, Felix and Minho chatted animatedly. Jisung sat next to me, his dimpled smile lighting up his face as he caught my eye.
Just as I was settling in, I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Chan taking the seat next to me. My heart skipped a beat as I smiled back at his cheesy grin, the one that always made his eyes crinkle into crescent moons. The small touch of his hand sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach, but it was nothing compared to the pounding of my heart at his presence. I couldn't help but wonder if everyone in the restaurant could hear it too.
Time seemed to slow down as Chan settled into the chair beside me. The familiar warmth of his presence enveloped me, and I couldn't help but steal a glance at him from the corner of my eye. His tousled hair, the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled, everything about him made my heart race.
As we looked over the menu, our conversation flowed effortlessly. Laughter mingled with the clinking of silverware and the hum of conversation around us. It felt like the most natural thing in the world, being here with the boys.
"Hey, Zena," Chan's voice broke through my thoughts, capturing my attention. "What are you going to order?"
I scanned the menu in front of me, trying to focus on the options laid out before me. But with Chan's arm casually draped behind my chair and his knee repeatedly brushing against mine under the table, it was difficult to concentrate. Frustrated, I quickly blurted out the first thing that caught my eye, hoping to break the tension and alleviate my nerves.
"I think I'll go with the rustic burger," I announced, lifting my head to meet Chan's gaze. A slight mistake, as he had been leaning in close behind me to look at the menu as well, and now his face was mere inches from mine, his deep golden-brown eyes locking on to mine.
Caught off guard, I couldn't help but get lost in the intensity of his gaze. It was like an electric shock that coursed through my veins, freezing me in time and space. Everything around us faded away into a blur, leaving only Chan's piercing eyes locked with mine. My heart began to race, pounding in my chest like a tribal drum, as a rush of emotions overwhelmed me.
His lips curled up into a knowing smile, and he leaned in even closer, his warm breath tickling my skin. "Rustic burger sounds great," he spoke softly, sending shivers down my spine.
I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks, turning them a deep shade of crimson. I looked away for a moment, trying to regain some semblance of composure. The sound of laughter and conversation from our friends at the table brought me back to reality. Taking a deep breath, I turned back to him with a playful smile.
"You know," I began teasingly, trying to regain my confidence, "you seem awfully interested in my choice of food."
He chuckled, his laughter filling the space between us like music notes dancing in the air. "Well, I can't help it," he replied, his voice laced with amusement. "I've always been curious about your taste."
I raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in my eyes. "Oh really? And what do you think my taste in food says about me then?"
He leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful yet still full of playfulness. "Hmm, let's see," he mused, tapping his chin playfully. "I'd say you're someone who appreciates simplicity yet craves a burst of flavor. You're not afraid to try new things, but you also have a deep appreciation for classics."
I couldn't help but smile at his words, feeling a warmth spread through me. He had effortlessly summed up my relationship with food, but it also felt like he had captured something deeper about me as a person.
"You know me too well," I admitted, my tone filled with both surprise and admiration. "But I wasn't always like this."
With surprise, he raised his eyebrows in curiosity, "Oh, really?".
I hummed in a yes manner, "I used to be that kid who was super picky on what I ate, only sticking to safe and familiar foods. But as time went on, I grew tired of missing out on new and delicious experiences."
"My fear of trying new things even extended to fun activities. For the longest time, I adamantly refused to ride roller coasters, too afraid to let go and enjoy the thrill. However, during a vacation with my cousins to Disney World, something inside me shifted. Maybe it was the infectious joy and excitement around me, or maybe I was just tired of constantly holding back from new experiences." In that moment of vulnerability, I shared this realization with him.
Chan listened intently, his eyes locked on mine, and a gentle smile played on his lips. It was as if he understood the significance of my words, the underlying message that went beyond my fear of roller coasters.
"I think there comes a point in everyone's life when they realize that holding back from new experiences only limits their growth," he replied softly, his voice filled with empathy. "And it takes courage to embrace the unknown, to let go of our fears and allow ourselves to be vulnerable."
His words resonated deep within me. It was as if he saw through the layers, I had carefully constructed around myself, exposing my insecurities and doubts. But instead of feeling exposed, I felt an overwhelming sense of comfort and acceptance in his presence.
"You're right," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "It took me a while to learn that lesson, but I'm glad I did. Life is too short to hold back."
His warm, calloused hand reached out to cover mine underneath the wooden table, his touch sending a surge of electricity through my body. I smiled at him, feeling grateful for his kind words.
Just as I was about to open my mouth to speak, my sister kicked me forcefully under the table. I winced and glanced at her, catching her 'what the heck is going on' expression. Her interruption jolted me back to reality.
Clearing my throat, I gently removed my hand from his and replied, "Enough about me. What about you? Have you decided what you're going to get?" My voice was soft, almost hesitant, giving away the internal turmoil that his touch had stirred within me.
Chan smiled, understanding the unspoken message behind my sudden shift in tone. He released a small sigh, as if reluctantly letting go of the connection we had just established..
"I think I'll go with the steak," he replied, his voice carrying a hint of disappointment.
I nodded, silently acknowledging the shared disappointment. We both knew that our conversation had taken an unexpected turn, one that couldn't be explored further in that moment. But there was a flicker of determination in Chan's eyes, as if he was silently promising to revisit the unfinished conversation at a later time.
As we placed our orders with the waiter, the atmosphere at the table shifted slightly. Felix and Minho exchanged knowing glances, while Jisung grinned mischievously at me. It seemed like they too had sensed the underlying tension between Chan and me.
I tried my best to focus on the banter and laughter around the table, desperately attempting to distract myself from the unresolved connection between Chan and me. But with every passing moment, the magnetic pull between us seemed to grow stronger, impossible to ignore.
As we waited for our food to arrive, a sense of restlessness settled over me. I found myself stealing glances at Chan when I thought no one was looking, trying to decipher the emotions swirling in his eyes. There was an unspoken understanding between us, a connection that felt so tantalizingly close yet frustratingly out of reach.
Just as I was about to give in to the temptation of engaging in a private conversation with Chan, Jisung's mischievous grin widened, and he leaned in closer, his voice barely above a whisper. "I have an idea," he said slyly, arching an eyebrow.
Felix and Minho perked up immediately, their curiosity piqued. Even Chan couldn't hide his intrigue as he turned his attention towards Jisung. I couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty stirring within me.
Jisung leaned back in his chair, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "How about we play a little game?" he suggested, his voice laced with excitement.
My heart skipped a beat, and I exchanged nervous glances with Chan. The others at the table seemed equally intrigued, their eyes fixed on Jisung as he continued.
"It's simple," Jisung explained, his voice barely containing his excitement. "We each take turns asking a question, and everyone at the table has to answer truthfully."
A chorus of agreement echoed around the table, and I felt the weight of anticipation settle over us. It was as if time stood still, the air thick with curiosity and unspoken desires. Instinctively, I found my gaze drifting back to Chan, wondering what questions he might ask.
I replied confidently, "Ok, I'm down." My curiosity was piqued; I couldn't wait to hear what they had to say. After all, I had nothing to hide and was eager to see where the conversation would lead.
Jisung grinned mischievously, obviously relishing in the newfound intrigue of the game. "Alright, let's start with an easy one," he said, his eyes scanning the faces around the table. "Chan, what's something you've always wanted to do but haven't had the chance to yet?"
Chan leaned back in his chair; his eyes thoughtful as he pondered Jisung's question. A small smile played at the corners of his lips, revealing a glimpse of his adventurous spirit. "Well," he began, his voice laced with a touch of excitement, "I've always wanted to go skydiving."
Gasps and cheers erupted from the others at the table, their eyes shining with a mix of surprise and anticipation. It was clear that Chan's answer had sparked something within them, igniting their own desires for thrilling experiences.
Jisung turned to me next, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. "And what about you?" he inquired.
I paused, considering my answer carefully before responding, "If I had to choose one thing, it would probably be traveling to a foreign country. The thought of immersing myself in a new culture and experiencing unfamiliar sights and sounds is thrilling to me. And if I could also use that opportunity to help others in need through mission work, that would be even more amazing."
The table fell into a brief silence, absorbing my words. My revelation had taken them by surprise, evident from the wide-eyed expressions and curious glances exchanged among my friends. Felix let out a low whistle, his eyebrows raised in admiration.
"Wow, that's an amazing goal," he said, a note of awe in his voice. "You've really got a big heart, huh?"
I blushed at Felix's compliment, gratitude washing over me. It was comforting to know that my friends saw the same passion and compassion within me that I often felt but struggled to vocalize. Their support meant more to me than they could ever know.
Chan leaned forward slightly, his eyes sparkling with newfound curiosity. "Where would you want to go first?" he asked softly, his voice laced with genuine interest.
A surge of excitement coursed through my veins as I considered his question. The possibilities were endless—a bustling city filled with winding streets and hidden gems in Europe, a mystical temple steeped in history and tradition in Asia, or a verdant rainforest teeming with life and adventure in South America.
My mind races with the possibilities, but ultimately I know where my heart longs to go – Uganda. My missionary friends speak of it with such passion and dedication, their eyes shining as they recount their experiences. The thought of being there, surrounded by vibrant culture and kind-hearted people, makes my heart swell with excitement. And then there's little William, the boy I sponsor in Uganda. I dream of meeting him and seeing the impact of my support in person. It is a country that calls to me, beckoning me to come and experience its beauty and rich history firsthand. "Umm, I'd think I would want to go to Uganda," I state with certainty, a hint of longing in my voice. "I have some missionary friends that go there a few times a year. Also, I sponsor a little boy in Uganda that I would love to visit someday."
Chan's eyes widen with surprise, his gaze shifting from me to the others at the table. The air becomes heavy with a mixture of admiration and curiosity. Seungmin breaks the silence, his voice filled with awe.
"Uganda, huh?" he says, his tone laced with wonder. "That's incredible. I've heard amazing things about that place. It must be a powerful experience to witness the impact of your support firsthand."
I nod, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "It would be truly life-changing," I reply, my voice full of conviction. "To see the difference we can make in someone's life, to connect with people from a different culture—it's something I've always dreamed of."
A heavy silence falls over the table as my words hang in the air, causing everyone to pause and contemplate. The weight of my statement is thick, like a cloud of tension hanging over us. "Gah! I'm sorry!" I exclaim, breaking the silence with my sudden outburst. "I made that so deep and awkward." My cheeks flush with embarrassment as I nervously scratch the back of my head. This was supposed to be a light-hearted lunch, but instead, it feels like I've just opened up a can of deep emotions.
Chan reaches across the table, placing his hand gently on top of mine. His touch is warm and reassuring, sparking a sense of calm within me. "Don't apologize," he says softly, his voice filled with sincerity. "There's nothing awkward about opening up and sharing your passions with us. In fact, it's inspiring."
I meet his gaze, my eyes searching for any sign of judgment or discomfort. Instead, I find nothing but understanding and support reflected in his deep brown eyes. It's as if he sees straight into my soul, embracing the vulnerabilities I've just laid bare.
Jisung breaks the silence, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "You know what? Let's make a pact right here, right now," he declares, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Let's make it our mission to turn these dreams into reality."
A chorus of agreement ripples through the table as my friends eagerly join in. The weight of tension and uncertainty is replaced by laughter, as we all excitedly plan and discuss how we can make our dreams come true. Ideas and suggestions bounce around the table, each one more daring and adventurous than the last.
Chan's eyes shine with determination as he contributes his own thoughts to the conversation. "We could look into skydiving experiences in Uganda," he suggests, a playful grin on his face. "It would be the perfect way for you to check off both of our dreams!"
The sound of joyful laughter erupts from Chan's suggestion, filling the air with a contagious sense of excitement and possibility. In that moment, I can't help but smirk as I chime in, "Why wait until I go to Uganda, Chris? We have a skydiving center right here in town. You could mark it off your list this week."
His cocky grin quickly vanished as he heard my idea, causing everyone at the table, including myself, to burst into laughter.
A warm, contented smile lingered on my lips as I returned from a fit of laughter. My cheeks still ached from the joyful strain as I turned to Jisung, my playful demeanor shining through. "Shall we continue our game?" I asked with a mischievous glint in my eye, hoping to keep the jovial energy going. He nodded eagerly, a matching smile spreading across his face as he turned to the table and posed the question, "Who would like to ask the next question?" The air was filled with lightness and camaraderie, as if we were all old friends gathered around a fire telling stories.
Chan leaned back in his chair, his eyes scanning the table as he considered his question. "Alright," he began, a sly smile forming. "If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"
The question hung in the air, each of us taking a moment to let our imaginations run wild. From the corner of my eye, I caught a glimmer of mischief in Jisung's expression, hinting at the mischievous answer that was about to escape his lips.
"I'd want the power of teleportation," Jisung declared, a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. "Imagine being able to go anywhere in an instant. No more long flights or tedious road trips. Plus, think of all the pranks we could pull!"
The table erupted with laughter and nods of agreement, everyone envisioning the possibilities that came with having such an ability.
As the food arrived, our table became alive with chatter and laughter, filling the air with joy and camaraderie. We shared secrets, reminisced about childhood memories, and told funny jokes, enjoying each other's company as if there was no tomorrow. The aroma of our meals wafted through the air, making our stomachs grumble in anticipation.
Before we knew it, our plates were empty and our stomachs were satisfied. Realizing everyone had finished their food and we had already paid the bill, I glanced over at Veronica and we both exchanged a knowing look.
I clapped my hands to get everyone's attention at the table. "Are you all ready to find out what thrilling activity awaits us today?" A chorus of cheers and excitement erupted from the table. "Then let's head back out to the cars so we can hit the road and start our journey."

Chapter 4: Late Night Meals
______________________________________________
Chan's POV ------------------------------
My eyes followed Zena's graceful exit from the dressing room, a stern security guard accompanying her to ensure her safety. A sense of protectiveness bloomed within me, as if it was my duty to make sure she reached her vehicle unharmed. As she walked away, I turned to Veronica, our manager, and handed her our belongings to load into the sleek, black SUV waiting for us.
The rest of the band members gathered around me, and we made our way to the luxurious vehicle. The leather seats engulfed us in comfort as the car glided smoothly through the bustling city streets. The soft glow of the dim lights created a warm ambiance, but my mind was too occupied with the enchanting moments of the night to fully appreciate it. Memories of the electrifying performance and the crowd's adoration filled my thoughts.
My mind then swirled with thoughts of Zena, her infectious laughter ringing in my ears and the way her eyes sparkled like diamonds when she smiled. I couldn't forget the way her hair bounced as she danced at the concert, lost in the music and pure joy.
As the SUV approached a stoplight, I couldn't shake my thoughts of her. Suddenly, Changbin's voice pierced through my thoughts. "Isn't that Zena?" he exclaimed; his confusion evident. Everyone turned to look out the window, and there she was - a vision in white. Her sleek Kia FORTE pulled up next to us at the stoplight, pulsating with the bass of the loud music she had blaring. Zena's head thrashed back and forth to the rhythm, her passion for music evident in every movement. She sang along to the lyrics at the top of her lungs, completely lost in the moment.
The members burst into uproarious laughter at Zena's playful antics, her contagious energy spreading through the car. I couldn't help but chuckle and smile to myself, admiring her carefree attitude. The traffic light turned green, and both vehicles continued on their way, with Zena still lost in her own world of music.
Shortly after, we arrived at the restaurant and pulled up next to Zena's car. She was in the midst of pulling on a navy blue crewneck sweatshirt as her car door hung open. As she peeked her head through the hole of the sweatshirt, she flashed us a dazzling smile before walking over to join us. "Ready?" she asked eagerly. My heart seemed to flutter at the sight of such a beautiful smile.
She continued to radiate joy and laughter as the other members playfully teased her about putting on a rock concert in her car on the way here. She simply shrugged her shoulders and laughed without a care in the world, reminding me once again of her carefree spirit.
As we stepped into the restaurant, a warm and inviting atmosphere enveloped us. The lady at the front greeted us with genuine enthusiasm, but when her eyes landed on Zena, her smile grew even wider. "Zena! How have you been? It's been too long since I've seen you and the family." Her voice was filled with warmth and familiarity. Zena returned the smile with equal brightness, replying, "I'm doing well! Things have been hectic lately, but I made sure to stop by today." She then inquired about the well-being of the lady's children, showing genuine interest in their lives. They chatted for a bit before Zena jokingly reminded her to let Mike, the manager, know not to overwork her or she'll have to have a serious talk with him. Both women shared a laugh before Zena mentioned our large group.
As we made our way towards our table, it was clear that Zena was familiar with the staff. She greeted each one we passed by name and they all responded warmly in return. The lady led us to our table and handed out menus before leaving us to peruse them. Zena took the seat in the center, surrounded by Felix and Han on either side. I sat across from her and the rest of our group settled around the table accordingly. Our two security guards and Veronica also found their places, completing our party.
Jeongin, still thinking about the earlier interactions between Zena and the staff, spoke up with curiosity evident in his voice, "Is the real reason you wanted to come here because you know everyone?" Zena shook her head calmly, her eyes scanning the menu in front of her as she replied, "No, I happen to know a lot of people at Mi Terra as well. But this place just has better food, and it's a low-key spot where you won't be recognized. Plus, they stay open until 2 A.M. so we don't have to rush."
I couldn't help but be intrigued by her statement. I met her gaze as I picked up my own menu and asked, "How do you know so many people?" Zena calmly lifted her menu off the table and answered, "They are either clients from my dad's company, people from my previous job, family members, childhood friends from my grandparents' church, and friends from my current church."
A hush fell over the table as we all processed the onslaught of information. Zena looked up at us, when she didn't hear anything, and innocently asked, "What?" Felix broke the silence with an exclamation of surprise, "That's quite a lot of people. Dang!"
Zena's laughter was light and musical as she set her menu down gently. Her eyes sparkled with sincerity as she shared her perspective, "San Antonio is like a giant small town. Despite its size, there's a strong sense of community here. It seems like everyone either knows each other or is connected in some way. It can be both a blessing and a curse." I nodded in understanding, suddenly reminded of my own experiences in the tightly-knit world of K-pop.
The words tumbled out of me before I could stop them, "I know exactly what you mean. In the industry, it feels like everyone knows each other or has some kind of connection." She smiled sympathetically, knowing the challenges of being constantly surrounded by familiar faces.
Leaning forward, I rested my elbows on the table and asked, "Does it ever get tiring? Always being recognized wherever you go?" She paused for a moment, contemplating my question before responding with frankness. "Yeah, sometimes it does. It can be overwhelming to never have any real quiet moments in public. But other times, it's nice to feel that sense of belonging."
Felix interjected playfully with a mischievous grin, "Well, tonight we get a break from all that." The rest of our group chuckled along with him in agreement. Tonight, would be a welcome escape from the constant pressure and recognition that came with our fame.
As we continued to peruse the menu, my eyes met Zena's and a faint flush spread across her cheeks. She quickly cleared her throat, breaking our brief but charged connection. "So, what do you plan on ordering?" she asked, changing the subject to our food choices. Yet, my thoughts were consumed by the way her dazzling hazel eyes lit up when they met mine. A surge of boldness coursed through me as I made the decision to take a chance on this moment.
My voice was low and filled with anticipation as I spoke, my eyes twinkling mischievously. "How about we spice things up tonight? Let's order for each other." The other members of our group exchanged amused glances while Zena's eyes widened in surprise.
"Are you serious?" she asked, a mixture of intrigue in her tone. "None of you have allergies or dietary restrictions, right?"
I shook my head confidently, the corners of my mouth curling into an even wider smile. "Nope! Come on! I think it could add an exciting element to our dinner."
Zena chewed on her lower lip, carefully weighing my suggestion. Finally, she gave a nod. "Okay, let's give it a shot. But! Under one condition - everyone must try the sweet tea. It's a tradition down south."
I grinned, delighted by her response. "Deal," I said, extending my hand to seal our agreement. Zena hesitated for a moment before reaching out and shaking it, the warmth of her touch sending a jolt of electricity through me.
The waiter arrived at our table, ready to take our orders. With a mischievous twinkle in my eye, I looked over at Zena and said, "We'll have whatever you recommend for each of us."
The waiter's eyebrows shot up in surprise, clearly intrigued by our request. He nodded with a polite smile and asked if there were any dietary restrictions or allergies to consider. We assured him that we were open to anything and everything.
Zena's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she watched the waiter scribble down our unconventional order. It was exciting to see her embrace the spontaneity and adventure I had suggested. As we waited for our food to arrive, conversation flowed freely among our group.
Amidst the laughter and lively chatter, the air crackled with a newfound energy. Zena's radiant smile seemed to infect us all, filling the restaurant with an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. It was as if we had stumbled upon a hidden oasis, a place where we could momentarily escape the demands of our fame and simply be ourselves.
Our table was filled with plates of mouthwatering food, each dish handpicked by our waiter, Jose, as Zena later informed me. We embarked on a culinary adventure that surpassed our expectations and delighted our taste buds. As we indulged in every bite, we also shared laughter and stories, reveling not only in the delicious flavors but also the wonderful bond we were creating.
As she finished her conversation with Felix, a mischievous grin spread across her face. "I can't believe my outfit matched y'all's stage attire," she exclaimed, unable to contain her laughter.
A soft chuckle escaped my lips as she turned to me, her brows furrowed in confusion. "What's so funny?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. I couldn't help but smile at her adorable accent as I replied, "I just think it's adorable when you say 'y'all'." A blush rose to her cheeks as she rubbed the back of her neck, the corners of her mouth turning up in a shy smile. "It's a southern thing," she explained, "I don't even realize I do it until I'm around people who aren't from here." The way she spoke was like honey dripping from her lips, a sweet and charming drawl that I could listen to all day. Her accent added to her already irresistible charm and made me fall for her even more.
As the evening wore on and our laughter filled the air, I found myself captivated by Zena's every word and gesture. Each moment spent in her presence felt like a stolen treasure, a precious memory that would forever be etched in my heart.
As the night grew darker, the restaurant began to empty out, leaving only a few lingering customers scattered across the cozy space. With the light sound of mariachis playing in the other room, an atmosphere of peace settled over us.
Zena's gaze met mine, her hazel eyes crinkled in laughter. In that moment, I knew that this connection was more than just chance or shared experiences. It was something deeper, something that transcended our roles as celebrities.
"Let me get this straight, he locked you guys out of the room for two hours just to have some alone time? Wow, you guys must be really loud," she said to Han with a nod towards me. I nodded my head at the memory.
Han chuckled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, we... uh, got a little carried away." he admitted, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of crimson.
With a light laugh, she changed the subject and directed her question to our group. "So, is this y'all's first time visiting Texas?" Her bright eyes sparkled with curiosity as she waited for a response. I nodded eager to share my thoughts.
"Yup, it's our first time," I replied, excitement lacing my words. "And let me tell you, I now understand why everyone says everything is bigger in Texas. The energy of the audience at the concert tonight was off the charts. It was truly a memorable experience." I couldn't hide the grin spreading across my face as I recalled the night.
"This was actually our last stop on the tour, so we decided to stay in town for an extra week and explore. We've heard so many great things about Texas and we don't want to miss a thing." I stated with enthusiasm.
Her bright hazel eyes sparked with excitement as my words registered in her mind, and it was clear that a new idea had just dawned on her. "Well, why didn't you say something sooner? I could be your tour guide for the week, as a thank you for letting me tag along with y'all today. Luckily, my job allows for a flexible schedule, so it shouldn't be an issue. I'll just have to inform my dad beforehand. Although, I must say that Sunday is the only day I won't be available to show y'all around - I volunteer at my church all day." Her dimpled smile shone like a beacon, radiating warmth and charm as she eagerly rushed out her offer.
We exchanged excited looks within the group, knowing that this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. The thought of exploring San Antonio with Zena as our guide filled me with anticipation and a sense of adventure.
"That sounds amazing!" Felix exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with enthusiasm. "We've been on tour for so long, and it would be incredible to experience San Antonio through a local's perspective."
Zena's smile widened, and she nodded eagerly. "I promise, you won't be disappointed. San Antonio has so much to offer, from the lively River walk to the breathtaking architecture at La Canterra. I'll make sure to show you everything."
As the evening wound down, we exchanged contact information and made plans to meet the next day to kick off our week-long adventure. The excitement lingered in the air as we said our goodbyes, eager for what laid ahead.

Chapter 3: Music, Smiles, And Conversation
_______________________________________________
Zena’s POV ————————————————————
As we waited for the band to take the stage, the air crackled with anticipation. The faint scent of sweat mixed with the sweet aroma of cotton candy from the concession stand, creating an intoxicating blend that heightened my senses. Every inch of my body thrummed with excitement, and it took all of my willpower to keep from jumping up and down in sheer joy. This was it - a moment that every STAY dreamed of, and I was living it.
As the final seconds counted down, the anticipation became almost palpable. The heavy velvet curtain ascended slowly, revealing the grandeur of the Stray Kids concert unfolding before my wide-eyed gaze. The deafening screams of fans around me blended with the exhilarating sound of the rising curtain, creating a sensory overload that was almost too much to bear. Yet, here I was, front row at the concert of a lifetime - a moment that would forever be etched in my memory as pure magic.
As the lights dimmed and Stray Kids took the stage, my heart skipped a beat. The members were adorned in striking black and red outfits that were vaguely familiar to my own. Felix, with his playful demeanor, pointed from the stage at his outfit and then mine, as if to say "hey, we're matching!" A wave of excitement washed over me as I giggled to myself at his antics. The lights on stage reflected off their slick leather jackets and boots, adding a cool edge to their already charismatic presence. The beat of the music pulsed through the venue, vibrating in my bones and stirring up excitement within me.
It was as if a wave of electric energy enveloped the concert hall. The audience was enchanted by the group's raw talent and eager to be spellbound by their music. The lights dimmed, signaling the start of the show, and the crowd erupted into a symphony of cheers, their anticipation palpable in the air. I couldn't help but smile as the opening notes of "God's Menu" filled the room, a song that just hours ago had me dancing in the grocery store aisles.
The performance unfolded like a mesmerizing tapestry of sound and movement, each member weaving their unique talents into the intricate design. As they sang and danced in perfect harmony, I was swept away by the effortless charisma and skill on display. The stage pulsed with energy as the group moved together in dynamic choreography, their voices filling every corner of the venue.
Amidst the dazzling spectacle, my eyes were drawn to Bang Chan like a magnet. His gaze seemed to seek out mine from the stage, his subtle smiles forming an unspoken connection that resonated deep within me. It was as if the music itself had created an invisible thread between us, drawing us closer despite the physical distance. And in that moment, I felt completely lost in the magic of the performance and connected to something bigger than myself.
The bustling energy of the concert swept me up as I surrendered to its collective pull. Suddenly, Han took center stage with his charismatic presence and flirty antics. With each teasing remark and mischievous grin, he effortlessly engaged the audience, earning waves of laughter and thunderous applause. I couldn't help but get caught up in the lighthearted moments that Han seamlessly wove into the performance. My giggles joined in harmony with the music as he playfully blew a kiss my way, sending a surge of excitement through my body.
As the music swelled and pulsed through the concert hall, I was completely lost in the moment, unaware of the tension between Chan and Han as they playfully wrestled with each other on stage . The setlist unfolded with a series of electrifying hits: "Back Door," "LALALALA," and "Case 143." Each song carried its own unique energy, captivating the audience and leaving them hungry for more. And as the crowd's collective voices joined in, the air was filled with a harmonious symphony that reverberated throughout the entire venue. It was a musical experience like no other, one that I would never forget.
Suddenly, the beat for Red Lights began to pulsate through the air. My breath caught in my throat as Chan's smooth, melodic voice filled the space around us. He turned to me, locking eyes with me as if he were singing to me and me alone. In that moment, it felt like time had stopped and there was no one else in the world except for him and I. He would occasionally glance at the rest of the audience, but his gaze always found its way back to me. As the song came to an end, I could have sworn I saw a mischievous smirk on his face before he turned back to the cheering crowd. They launched into their next song, "MIROH", but my mind was too consumed with thoughts of whether or not his intense gaze and brief smile meant something more than just a performance. Was it all in my head or did he truly see me in that moment?
As the last sweet strains of "MIROH" hung in the air, Stray Kids gracefully took their final bows, showering their fans with genuine appreciation and affection. The energy in the room was electric, pulsing with excitement and emotion, leaving my heart pounding in my chest. Little did I know that my journey with Stray Kids was about to transcend the confines of the stage and lead me on an unforgettable adventure. A rush of adrenaline flooded through me as I joined in the thunderous applause, caught up in the magic of the moment.
As the concert came to an end, I joined the throngs of people packing up their belongings and preparing to head back home. But just as I was about to leave, the same security guard who had scanned my ticket earlier that evening stopped me in my tracks. With an urgent expression, he informed me that the boys wanted me to meet them in their dressing rooms. My heart raced with excitement and nerves as I nodded eagerly and followed him through the winding backstage corridors. The echo of chatter and laughter from other fans mingled with the faint sound of music still playing in the distance. Anticipation bubbled inside me like a fizzy drink as we approached the closed door marked "Dressing Rooms".
The security guard gave me a nod before we parted ways, leaving me to knock on the door of the dressing room. Almost immediately, the door swung open with Han, now clad in jeans and a sweatshirt, standing there, grinning from ear to ear. He eagerly pulled me inside, his hand firmly clasping mine as he led me to the couch in the middle of the bustling room. The air was electric, filled with an adrenaline buzz as each member of the group relaxed and decompressed after their high-energy performance. Some were wiping away their stage makeup, while others fanned themselves or chugged water to cool off. The energy and excitement in the room was thick, almost overwhelming in its intensity.
Han stands before me, his feet planted firmly apart and his hands confidently resting on his hips. He exudes a sense of pride and accomplishment, as if he has just saved the day like a true superhero. On either side of me, Felix and Hyungin sit, their gazes fixed on me with eager anticipation.
Felix's wide grin illuminates his face as he looks at me with a curious look. "So how did you enjoy the concert?" he inquires.
My eyes sparkle with excitement, reflecting the colorful lights and pulsing energy of the concert. Memories from the night flood through my mind, filling me with joy and adrenaline. But before I can even express my thoughts, Han interrupts.
"Oh please, it's clearly the best concert she's ever been to because we were there," he quips with a confident smirk on his face, as if it should be obvious to anyone who attended.
Hyunjin shoots Han a fierce glare and lightly taps his calf with his shoe, scolding him, "Yah! Can you give her a chance to talk?"
Han playfully rubs his leg in feigned pain and frowns, "You know I'm right."
Turning around in his chair to join the conversation, Chan asks, "But for real, how did you like the concert, Zena?"
"It was so much fun! Honestly, Han is right! That is the best concert I have ever been to. The energy was hype, the dance moves were on point, and the vocals were almost hypnotizing with how in sync they were. It reminded me why I like y'all's music so much!" I rushed together in excitement.
Han's head whipped around, his arms gesturing wildly towards Hyunjin and me. "SEE! I TOLD YOU!" His voice echoed across the room, filled with excitement and triumph. Hyunjin simply rolled his eyes at Han's outburst, used to his friend's dramatic nature. I couldn't help but giggle at the commotion.
Amidst the laughter, Chan's smooth Australian accent cut through the air. "What was your favorite song?" I paused for a moment, considering my answer before responding. "I don't think I have an overall favorite, but LALALA's choreography was incredible, and Muddy Water's vocal harmonies were so impressive. Although, I must say, I really enjoyed that one part you did in 3RACHA."
With a smile and a quizzical brow, Chan asked, "Which part?" I cleared my throat and attempted my best Australian accent as I repeated the lyrics. "My boyz spittin facts we're locked and loaded pa, pa, pa." This caused everyone in the room to break out into fits of giggles.
Sheepishly scratching the back of my neck, I added, "I probably butchered that." But Chan just shook his head with a fond smile and reassured me, "No, you didn't. Either way, I'm glad you liked the song." I shyly responded with, "I mostly just like that part because your accent is so thick and sounds nice."
With slight shock at the compliment, a mischievous smirk followed with him asking, "Oh, really?". Slightly embarrassed at my unfiltered moment of honesty, I nod my head and reply with a curt, "Yeah."
He smirks at me and reply's with, "Well thank you for the compliment." Bang Chan said, his eyes reflecting sincerity. I was completely taken aback by the warmth in his words.
With a shift in the atmosphere, Felix stands up with a light slap to my knee, drawing my attention. "Well, we should probably finish taking off the makeup and changing. Would you like to join us for dinner Zena? We were planning on going to a nearby restaurant after this."
I look at him with surprise, not expecting the invitation. All of the boys in the room hold their breath, waiting for my answer. I smile and nod at Felix, "I would love to join y'all for dinner!" With curiosity I asked, "Where were y'all planning on going?"
Seungmin chimes in, "We wanted to try some authentic Mexican food while we're here, so we were thinking about going to a place called Mi Terra, I believe." Panic rises in my chest as I respond quickly, "Actually, why don't we try La Cabana instead? The food is much better, and I can guarantee you won't be swarmed by fans there."
They all exchange looks before shrugging and agreeing. "Ok, I guess we should trust your judgement since you live here," Chan says on behalf of everyone. Relief washes over me knowing that we've avoided a potential food and stomach crisis for the evening. "Awesome!"
As everyone continues with getting ready to leave, I delve into my phone, scrolling aimlessly to pass the time while I wait. As I sit there, I can't help but imagine all the possible conversations and experiences that await us at our next destination. The thought fills me with a sense of excitement and gratitude; for once, it feels like the night will never end. The soft glow from my phone casts a warm light on my face, contrasting against the dimness of the room. Outside, the city lights twinkle in the distance, creating a mesmerizing backdrop. I take a deep breath and let myself fully immerse in the moment, savoring every second of this never-ending night.

Chapter 2: Outfit Dilemmas And Stage Meets
______________________________________________
Zena's POV ------------------------------
I found myself standing in front of my closet, surrounded by a tumultuous sea of clothing that left me feeling both overwhelmed and frustrated. The pressing need for the perfect outfit to wear to the much-anticipated concert fueled my desperation. With a heavy sigh, I decided to seek guidance from Zara.
"Zara!" I called out from my room, hoping for a lifeline in my fashion dilemma. A muffled response came from the adjacent space, prompting me to repeat myself, "Can you come here for a moment?" With curiosity, her head peered around the corner, discovering me amidst the chaos of clothes. Dusty sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the fabric piles and casting shadows that added to the chaos.
Zara's cheerful voice resonated through the room as she greeted me. "Hey, Z. What's up?"
"I need your opinion. I'm stressing about what to wear to the concert tonight. I want to look cool but not come across as trying too hard. Something that showcases my unique personality and fashion sense, yet also aligns with the band's vibe. Any ideas?" I explained with a sense of urgency
Zara sifted through the array of clothes, her eyes landing on a pair of perfectly worn black cargo pants. "These are perfect for you," she declared, holding them up for me to see. "They have that edgy vibe but are also super comfortable." Next, a bright red sleeveless bodysuit with a mock neck caught her attention. "This will really accentuate your curves and add a pop of color." Black combat boots, a chunky chain necklace, grunge-inspired drop earrings, and bold red sunglasses completed the ensemble. "With these accessories, you'll definitely give off that cool rocker chick vibe," she grinned.
I beamed as I slipped into the outfit, admiring my reflection in the full-length mirror. The vibrant colors and sleek lines of the clothing accentuated my figure, making me feel bold and powerful. "You are the absolute best sister," I exclaimed with gratitude. "I know I am.", she said as she flipped her hair behind her shoulder. We both looked at each other and started laughing.
Zara embraced me tightly, a warm and reassuring hug that radiated love and excitement. "You're going to have the most incredible time tonight." Her voice overflowed with genuine enthusiasm and encouragement. "Just remember to enjoy every moment. And don't forget to take lots of pictures and tell me all about it."
With a grateful nod, I thanked her once more before swiftly grabbing my keys and wallet and making my way to the car. The sun was already starting to dip below the horizon as I drove towards the building where the highly anticipated concert was being held. As I navigated through the bustling city streets and crazy drivers, my mind buzzed with excitement and nerves, envisioning the possibilities that lay ahead. I couldn't wait to experience the band live, wondering how they would sound in person and how they would react to my presence. My thoughts raced with anticipation, contemplating the topics they might discuss and the insights I could gain from them during their interaction.
My chest buzzed with excitement as I pulled up and parked my car, arriving at the venue. I gripped my phone tightly as I approached the front where an intimidating security guard stood. He scanned my passes, giving me a curt nod before gesturing for me to continue down the hallway. A combination of excitement and nerves caused my hands to shake as I walked down the hallway. I followed the directions given by the security guard, searching for the door Felix had messaged me about earlier. With each step, the faint sound of music grew louder, urging me forward. Finally, I arrived at a door labeled "Side Entrance," just as Felix had instructed in his text. Anticipation fluttered in my stomach as I pushed open the door, revealing the massive stage where the band practiced. Their voices harmonized in perfect unison, filling the room with the energetic beats of "LALALALA." I couldn't believe I was actually here, watching them up close. I recognized each member from their music videos and albums but seeing them in person was a whole new level of awe and admiration.
I lingered at the rear of the room, hoping to disappear into the darkness as I observed their every action. I didn't want to interrupt their rehearsal with my presence. Every step, every note they sang was filled with talent and charisma.
As the last chords of the song faded away, the band erupted into cheers on stage. Their faces glistened with sweat under the bright stage lights as they took a much-needed break. While the rest of the members retreated backstage, Han, Changbin, and Bang Chan seem to remain in place to get ready to practice another song.
Felix, Seungmin, Hyunjin, Lee Know, and I.N strutted confidently to the front row of the stage and settled down in their chairs for a much-needed rest. As they took a break and observed the other three members rehearsing, their contagious grins and playful banter filled the room with joy. They laughed about their previous mistakes during practice, releasing any stress and savoring each other's company. A fond smile spread across my face as I observed them unwinding and goofing off.
Filled with a burst of bravery, I took determined steps towards the front, my heart racing in my chest with anticipation. I prayed that the group would be warm and inviting, accepting me into their circle just as Felix had earlier in the day. A small smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I approached, my eyes scanning for the oh-so-familiar face that I had just met hours before. Felix caught sight of me instantly, and his face lit up, waving enthusiastically before rising to meet me.
"Zena!" he exclaimed joyfully, pulling me into a side hug. "I'm so happy you made it. And look at you, so fashionable and edgy." His words were accompanied by a warm hug, solidifying the welcoming atmosphere of the man before me.
With a wide smile, I threw my arms around Felix's waist and squeezed tightly. "It's so good to see you, Felix," I joyfully exclaimed, grateful for the invitation to this event. The warmth of the atmosphere enveloped the both of us as we basked in each other's company. My voice was full of genuine joy and gratitude as I added, "I couldn't be more thrilled to be here." My excitement was sincere and heartfelt.
A mischievous glint danced in Felix's eyes as he eagerly grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the front row of the stage. The bright lights illuminated his playful grin, making it impossible for me to resist following him. "Come on," he urged, "let me introduce you to the rest of the crew."
Felix waved eagerly to his bandmates as we walked towards them. He had a proud smile on his face, like he was showing off a precious trophy he had won. "Hey guys, I want you to meet my new friend, Zena. We bumped into each other at the grocery store earlier today, and I just had to invite her. She's a huge fan of our music." The other members of Stray Kids turned to face us, their faces lighting up with curiosity and interest. "Zena," Felix continued, "meet Seungmin, Hyunjin, Lee Minho, and Jeongin."
A massive grin took over my face as I stood and excitedly waved at the members of one of my all-time favorite bands, still convinced that I must be dreaming.
A flurry of questions suddenly bombarded me, catching me off guard. Each one came at me like a speeding bullet, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and disoriented. "Where are you from?" they asked, their voices eager and curious. "What do you do for a living?" followed by "Was it hard to get your hair like that?." And then the inevitable question, "Are you single?" The onslaught of inquiries left me reeling and struggling to keep up. My mind raced as I tried to find answers that would satisfy their curiosity. It was like being caught in a tornado of conversation, with no escape in sight.
I let out a sigh, giving in to their curiosity. "Okay, okay, I'll answer your questions. I'm from the busy city of San Antonio." I motioned towards our surroundings. "During the week, I work as the head graphic and website designer for my dad's I.T. company. But on the side, I also have my own t-shirt brand. And although I don't get paid for it, I help with social media and graphics for the student ministry at my church. As for my hairstyle, yes, it was a difficult to get it to look like this. I'm just surprised I didn't fry my hair." I chuckled before answering their last question. "And yes, I am single." A smile crept onto my face as I finished, hoping that my explanation satisfied their curiosity.
Seungmin's eyes widened. "Wow, that is truly impressive. You sound like a very busy person."
I couldn't help but smile wider at the compliment. "Thank you. I normally am. I'm hardly ever home. But out of everything, though, my favorite thing is creating the t-shirts. It allows me to have free creative reign."
Intrigued by my words, Hyunjin leaned in closer and asked, "That's incredible. What kind of designs do you create?"
My eyes sparkled with pride and satisfaction as I responded, my voice filled with passion. "I was a pastor's kid growing up, and it always bothered me that there was no merchandise featuring the stories from the Old Testament. So I took it upon myself to create unique designs with messages inspired by lesser-known Bible stories." She gestured towards her phone, where a t-shirt displayed the words 'There Was Four' in bold letters, with four silhouettes in a fire. "This one is inspired by Daniel 3:25," I explained eagerly. As I scrolled through my phone, I held up another picture of a shirt adorned with the phrase 'Gideon and the Torches'. "And this one," I continued, "was inspired by Judges 7." With excitement bubbling over, I showed them pictures of my creations, passionately narrating the stories behind each design.
Lee Know leaned over my shoulder to look. His eyes grew wide as he took in the elaborate designs before him. "These are amazing," he exclaimed in his heavy Korean accent, grappling with his English pronunciation. "I like how everything comes together."
Hyungin joined in, "Yeah, these don't look like your typical religious shirt. They remind me a lot of band tees. I would where these in a heartbeat". The other boys nodding their heads in agreement.
I smiled with pride, my hard work and creativity finally being recognized. "Thank you. I put a lot of effort and care into them."
Jeongin joined the conversation, his attention shifting from the designs to me. "You have a great sense of design," he commented. "Are you a fan of art in general?"
Hyunjin turned his head quickly to face me, his eyes gleaming with hope and excitement, giving an almost puppy like display.
A spark of excitement lit up my eyes and I enthusiastically nodded in agreement. "Absolutely!" I exclaimed with a wide grin. "Drawing, painting - though I'm not the most skilled at painting- and photography all bring me great joy."
Hyungin abruptly reached over in excitement and grabbed my hands, looking me in the eyes with joy and exclaimed, "If you're interested, I could teach you some tips to improve your painting skills!" I let out a giggle at his excitement and responded with equal eagerness, "I would be thrilled to learn from you, Hyungin!" After sharing a laugh about our shared enthusiasm, I turned back to Seungmin and added, "Besides art, music is another love of mine. Singing and dancing bring me endless joy."
Felix turned to me with an eager look in his eyes, asking, "Really? What kind of music do you like?" His admiration was evident as he added, "Killer moves by the way. You were absolutely amazing at the grocery store. You made me want to join you," he stated with a teasing grin.
A sense of embarrassment washed over me, coloring my cheeks with a warm flush as I playfully shoved Felix, who chuckled at my reaction.
"Thank you," I replied with a shy smile. "You're too kind. I listen to mainly rock music, but I have a soft spot for Disney tunes. And I absolutely love K-pop." my eyes lighting up as I spoke. "And you guys are one of my absolute favorite bands. Your songs, your raps, your dances, your personalities - everything about you is just so incredibly talented and inspiring." My voice filled with genuine sincerity as I continued, "You make me happy and motivated every time I listen to your music."
"Aw thank you! We're happy to have you as a fan," Felix said with a grateful smile. The rest of the band nodded in unison.
Third Person POV -------------------------
Meanwhile, Han, Changbin, and Bang Chan finished practicing their last song. The sound of their rap and beats echoed through the practice room, leaving them feeling confident in their performance. As they exited the stage, they noticed all the other members huddled in a tight circle, their voices murmuring excitedly. Curiosity peaked; the three boys made their way over to see what was causing such commotion.
Their eyes landed on Zena, who seemed to radiate a certain charm that immediately captured their attention. Her dual-toned hair cascaded down her shoulders, and her smile lit up her entire face. Her voice was sweet and melodic as she spoke to Felix, who stood beside her with an arm wrapped around her shoulders. Bang Chan couldn't help but pause for a moment, struck by Zena's beauty and infectious energy. He was drawn to her like a moth to a flame, wanting to know more about this captivating girl and her relationship with Felix. They approached the group with Han's boisterous voice ringing out, "Ey! Felix! Who is this stunning woman you've been keeping from us?". Felix let out a hearty laugh and proceeded to introduce them to Zena, and Zena to them. Her radiant smile lit up her face as she greeted each person in turn, her sparkling eyes filled with warmth and charm. With eager anticipation, Chan took a step forward to introduce himself. But before he could utter a single word, Han burst onto the scene with his booming voice and larger-than-life personality, stealing the opportunity away from Chan. The vibrancy of Han's energy filled the room, leaving no space for anyone else to make a mark.
"Greetings, Zena. I am Han," he announced with exuberance and a charmingly posh British accent. He took her hand with a flourish and pressed a gentle kiss to the back of it, as if she were royalty and he was her devoted suitor.
She giggled at his playful gesture, and she responded by giving a mock curtsey. "Well greetings, Han. I am Zena," she replied, playing along with the banter. "I must say, your rap skills and vocal talents are truly remarkable. You're quite talented, kind sir."
"Thank you, my dear," Han replied with a comical bow. His infectious grin widened as they exchanged smiles and burst into hearty laughter together. It was clear that they were going to get along famously.
With a small, amused shake of his head, Chan watched as Han bounced around with restless energy. He had just opened his mouth to introduce himself when Changbin suddenly cut in, eager to make a connection. Chan could feel the universe telling him to slow down and practice patience, but he couldn't help but be a little frustrated that he keeps getting stopped.
Changbin's voice was warm and friendly as he introduced himself to Zena, his hand gently clasping hers in a slight moment of shyness. His jet-black hair fell into his face, framing it in an almost mysterious way as he offered her the sweetest smile.
Zena returned his smile fondly, charmed by his presence. "Hello, Changbin. It's so nice to finally meet you." she replied, feeling a sense of genuine connection with him already. "I must say, I'm a huge fan of your rap skills and your undeniable charisma. You truly are awesome."
Changbin's cheeks flushed with a tinge of pink at her words. "Thank you so much," he states sincerely with his Korean accent. "You're incredibly kind."
The usually calm and composed Chan's patience quickly dissipates as he eagerly wanted to greet her, feeling like everyone is moving at a snail's pace. His excitement swells inside him, causing him to suddenly extend his hand in introduction and abruptly ending Zena and Changbin's conversation.
"Hi, I'm Bang Chan," his deep Australian accent rolls off his tongue effortlessly. "But you can call me Chris." His eyes sparkle with enthusiasm and admiration for the person in front of him.
Zena's heart flutters as she takes his hand and shakes it, her cheeks turning a rosy shade of pink. She can't believe she's meeting one of her favorite band members, the one she has a secret crush on since she became a STAY. "H-hi, Chris," she stammers nervously. "I'm Zena. I admire your strong leadership skills and your incredible versatility as a producer, singer, and dancer. You truly are a multi-talented artist."
Chan can't help but be slightly taken aback by her kind words. He's not used to such direct praise, especially from someone who exudes such genuine warmth and humility. A warm smile spreads across his face as he replies, "Thank you, Zena. That means a lot to me."
With her heart pounding in her chest, Zena couldn't help but feel a sense of electricity in the air as Bang Chan held her gaze. There was an unspoken connection between them, an invisible thread pulling them closer together. She found herself captivated by his warm smile and the genuine kindness in his eyes.
As Chan noticed the dazed look on Zena's face, he cleared his throat to say something to her. But before he could, their manager called them backstage, signaling it was time for their concert. Frustrated with the bad timing, Chan bids Zena a quick farewell and hustled off to join his bandmates. Felix passed by Zena and paused to turn towards her. "Your seat is the middle one right in the front," he stated, pointing to the designated spot. "If you need anything, just shoot me a text." His words were lost in the bustle of backstage preparations as he disappeared behind the heavy stage curtains with the rest of the band.
Zena nodded gratefully, feeling a rush of nerves and excitement at the thought of being in the front row for their performance. She mentally thanked Felix for his kindness before turning her attention back to the pulsing energy of the crowd waiting outside.
Zena took a deep breath as she settled into her seat before scanning the arena excitedly. The atmosphere was starting to bustle with energy as fans trickled in chatting and laughing while waiting for the show to start.
As she settled into her seat, Zena's mind raced with thoughts of the past few hours. Her heart fluttered with anticipation, a smile spreading across her lips as she whispered to herself, "Nothing will ever be normal after tonight." The theater hummed with excitement, the chatter of fellow audience members blending together in a symphony of voices. The velvet curtains on stage shimmered under the dim lights, creating an aura of mystery and enchantment. Zena couldn't wait for the show to start, eager to see what surprises and adventures awaited her in this new uncharted territory.

Chapter 1: Grocery Store Encounters
Third Person POV —————————————————
With a heavy sigh, Felix pushed the squeaky shopping cart through the bustling aisles of the supermarket. His bandmates were waiting for him at the hotel, exhausted from their long flight to Texas for the end of their world tour. Despite his own fatigue and longing to relax and watch some Netflix, Felix had lost a game of straws and was now stuck doing this mundane chore. The bright lights and colorful displays of the market seemed to mock him as he begrudgingly tossed various snacks into the cart, each one representing another lost round in the game. A mix of scents wafted through the air - fresh fruits and vegetables mingled with the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked goods. But all Felix could think about was getting this errand over with so he could finally join his bandmates and rest after their journey.
His eyes scanned the neatly organized shelves, searching for any signs of chips, cookies, and candy. The bright packaging and tempting aromas called out to him, promising a satisfying snack for his hungry band mates. He quickly tossed them into the cart, hoping it would be enough to satisfy their voracious appetites. Not wanting to forget about hydration, he also grabbed some water bottles and soda cans, knowing how important it was to stay refreshed. Glancing at his phone, he saw that he had a few precious minutes left before he had to head back home. With a sense of curiosity, he decided to take a leisurely stroll through the store, his eyes scanning for any interesting finds along the way.
As he rounded the corner, a familiar tune filled his ears from the store's speakers. It was one of their own songs, "God's Menu". A smile spread across his face as he hummed along, feeling a surge of pride and joy. Creating music with his friends brought him so much happiness and sharing it with others was even more rewarding. The upbeat melody filled the air, making Felix feel like he could conquer anything.
He walked past the frozen food section and saw two girls standing in front of the ice cream freezer. One of them was dancing and singing along to the song, her body moving fluidly to the beat with unbridled energy. Her outfit was a reflection of her unique spirit, with ripped jeans hugging her curves, a white tee accentuating her hourglass figure, a black zip up hoodie providing some warmth, a denim jacket adding edge, and black combat boots giving her an added sense of power. Her head was adorned with a baseball cap, its tan color complementing the two-toned hair that shone brightly under the artificial glow of the fluorescent lights. One half of her hair was black while the other was white, mirroring the duality of her unique style. Her hazel eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as she belted out the lyrics.
The other girl stood next to her, shaking her head in amusement while rolling her eyes at the other girl's antics. She had a small smile on her face, unable to hold back her laughter as she watched her companion dance without a care in the world. Unlike her companion's bold fashion choices, this girl opted for simple comfort in a tan shirt and jeans, but she still managed to look effortlessly beautiful. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail that swayed gently as she moved. Blue eyes looked bemused and slightly annoyed at having been dragged along on this unwanted grocery trip.
Felix couldn't help but stare at them both, amused by their contrasting reactions to the music. It was moments like these that reminded him why he loved creating music with his friends. It brought joy and happiness to others, even in the most unexpected places. He wondered if these girls just recognized the song or knew who Stray Kids were, but it didn't matter. In that moment, all that mattered was the shared love for music and the connection it brought between strangers.
Felix couldn't resist the urge to join in on the fun dance party happening right in front of him. The girl moving gracefully to the beat caught his eye, her shoulder length hair bouncing with each step. She radiated a vibrant energy that drew him in. Felix found himself smiling at her enthusiasm, admiring her endearing and lively spirit. With determination, he parked his cart nearby and walked over to them, his friendly smile reaching his eyes.
"Hey there," he greeted, his deep Australian voice contrasting with his youthful appearance. "I love your moves! Mind if I join in?"
The dancing girl came to an abrupt stop, her feet faltering as her brain processed the sight in front of her. Her eyes scanned the person standing before her, widening in disbelief as she took in the tall, slender Korean man with a bleach blond mullet. His face was freckled, his warm brown eyes radiating with a smile that could brighten up anyone's day. It was none other than Felix from Stray Kids, someone she had long admired. And he was talking to her. Heat rushed to her cheeks, turning them a bright shade of red, and her heart thrummed wildly in her chest. As a die-hard fan of the group, Felix was one of her favorite members and seeing him in person was like a dream come true. She had posters of him plastered all over her walls and had watched every single one of his videos and interviews multiple times. Meeting him was something she had always dreamed of, but she never imagined it would happen like this.
"O-oh my gosh," she exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement and nerves. "You're Felix! From Stray Kids!" Her high-pitched voice contrasted with his deep one, but she couldn't help it. "I-I love you so much!" Her words spilled out in a rush, overflowing with adoration for the talented artist standing before her.
A flush of embarrassment rose to her cheeks and she quickly covered her mouth with a trembling hand. Her outburst had been unexpected, and she couldn't help but feel a hint of panic at the thought of being judged as crazy or creepy. She shifted her gaze to her sister, whose expression was a mix of confusion and amusement. Oh, how she wished she could shrink herself and disappear into the cool depths of the freezer, away from the embarrassment.
Felix couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, finding it both flattering and amusing. He thought she was adorable and enjoyed her candidness. Extending his hand for a handshake, he introduced himself as if she didn't already know who he was. "Nice to meet you, I'm Felix," he said with a smile. "May I ask what your name is?"
With her heart racing, she stammered out her name as his warm hand enveloped hers. She could feel the strength in his grip as he gently held onto her. "Zena," she repeated, the sound of her name coming out in a breathless whisper. It was almost as if her name had taken on new meaning in that moment, tingling with electricity. "Zena Allen," she finished, the words sounding foreign and yet comforting at the same time.
Her name rolled off his tongue smoothly and made her cheeks flush with warmth. "You have both a lovely name and a stunning smile," he praised, causing her to blush even more. "And you have great taste in music, might I add."
A playful twinkle danced in his eyes, causing her to giggle nervously in response. Suddenly, his face lit up with an infectious grin that made it clear he had an idea brewing. He leaned in closer, his voice low and excited.
"Hey, I have a proposition for you. How would you like to join us at our concert tonight? I can pull a couple of strings and get you and your friend VIP tickets and backstage passes. You'll get to meet the entire band and spend the evening having some fun with us. What do you say?" His offer hung in the air, laced with excitement and anticipation.
A surge of excitement and disbelief coursed through Zena's body. She couldn't believe her ears - was he really inviting her to his concert? And not just any tickets, but VIP ones. It felt like a dream, and she was afraid to wake up from it. With wide eyes shining with gratitude, she nodded eagerly.
"Oh my gosh, yes! I would be honored to go!" Her voice rose in pitch with each "yes" until she was practically squealing. "Thank you so much, Felix! You truly are the best!" A sense of gratefulness and happiness washed over Zena as she thanked her newfound friend.
He couldn't resist being captivated by her authentic kindness and warmth. He was eager to discover more about her.
As he looked at Zena's companion, he noticed she had been observing them with a curious yet questioning look on her face.
He greeted her with a friendly wave and introduced himself. "Hi there, I'm Felix. And you are?" he asked politely.
"Zara," she replied coolly, acknowledging his introduction with a nod. "Zena's sister."
Unlike many others he had met, Zara didn't seem impressed by his fame or charming demeanor. She held no interest in KPOP or Stray Kids, finding them overrated and annoying. Her loyalty lay with Zena, whom she loved deeply and was fiercely protective of. KPOP was simply not her cup of tea, despite being close to someone who adored it wholeheartedly.
"Well, Zara, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said with a cheerful smile. "Will you be joining us at the concert?"
Zara shook her head firmly, her long blonde ponytail swaying as she did so. Her blue eyes held a hint of defiance.
"No, thank you. I'm not particularly fond of KPOP. I have other plans for the evening," she replied with a slight untruth. She didn't have any concrete plans, but the thought of spending her night surrounded by rowdy boys and frenzied fans was unappealing to say the least.
Although she was a music lover, this specific genre was not up her ally.
Felix felt a pang of hurt wash over him as he furrowed his brow. His mind raced with questions and doubts as he tried to get her to change her mind.
"Are you absolutely certain? It's bound to be an unforgettable experience. Our songs are catchy and our dances are lively, and we all have unique personalities that shine on stage. I truly believe you might enjoy us if you just give us a chance," he pleaded, his tone tinged with hopefulness and desperation.
Zara shook her head for the second time. "No, I'm positive. I have other tasks to attend to. Zena would appreciate it much more anyways," she stated, not giving it a second thought.
She spun gracefully on her heels and sauntered over to the next aisle to retrieve an item from their shopping list, giving them a moment alone. She returned in a matter of seconds.
A twinge of guilt and sadness tugged at Zena's heart as she thought of her sister. She longed for her to be by her side, sharing in this incredible experience. She considered declining Felix's offer and staying with her sister because it wasn't as fun to go by yourself, but then she looked at him with his concerned and hopeful expression. A small smile played on his lips.
Felix turned to Zena, his tone gentle and sincere. "You're not changing your mind on me, are you?" he asked. "It'll be a blast, and I really want to hang out with you and get to know you better. And I'd love for you to meet the rest of the band. What do you say?" His words enveloped her like a warm hug, tempting her to forget her concerns and have a fun evening with this truly kind man.
Her heart was in turmoil, torn between two opposing desires. On one hand, she craved to join Felix at his concert – to witness his performance, meet his bandmates, and have a carefree time. Yet, on the other hand, she couldn't bear the thought of going without her sister. She grappled with the burden of conflicting wants and her sense of duty towards both Felix and her sister.
He stood by, waiting for her answer without any sign of impatience. The thought of spending time with him, making him happy and enjoying his company, sent her heart racing. However, when she glanced over at her sister, a twinge of nervousness passed through her.
With one last deep breath, she made a decision.
Her lips parted, her breath catching in anticipation as she spoke. "Thank you, Felix," she said warmly, her heart overflowing with gratitude for his invitation. She could feel the weight of his kindness and generosity in every word.
"I would be happy to go." Her words were filled with excitement and curiosity, and as she gazed at Felix, she saw his face light up like a starry night sky. His smile widened, revealing a set of perfect white teeth, and his eyes sparkled with joy and relief. It was clear that he was just as excited about their plans as she was.
His face lit up with hopeful disbelief. "Really? You would? That's incredible!" His voice rose in excitement, causing the words to tumble out in a rush. "I'm so glad you said yes. You won't regret it. Trust me."
She turned to her sister, afraid to see her reaction. But Zara's eyes were filled with pure joy and excitement for her. A wide smile spread across her face, expressing her approval and shared enthusiasm for her beloved older sister.
A mischievous glint sparkled in her eyes as she playfully rolled them at Zena. She gestured towards Felix, a kind and patient man who stood by with a warm smile on his face. "Come on, Zena," she chided gently, "let's not be rude. Say thank you." Her voice was filled with warmth and affection for her sister. Zena returned the smile and nodded gratefully, her demeanor softening under the gentle reminder.
Zena's gaze met Felix's once again, his eyes still brimming with hope and eagerness. She couldn't help but smile at his expression, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug, surprising both him and herself. "Thank you, Felix," she whispered into his ear. "Thank you for being so kind and generous. And thank you for inviting me to your concert." Her voice was filled with genuine appreciation and excitement. As he hugged her back, she could feel the strength of his embrace and the warmth of his body against hers, causing a flutter in her stomach. "I have no doubt it will be an amazing night," she added with a grin. "And thank you for that mini concert," Felix replied with a chuckle, bringing a blush to Zena's cheeks.
With a twinkle in his eyes and a playful grin, he broke away from their embrace and locked his gaze onto hers. "Hold on," he said, reaching into his pocket, "let me give you the tickets and VIP pass."
"Why don't you give me your phone number? That way I can text you all the details." With a fluttering heart, she recited her number to him. He quickly typed it into his phone and sent her the ticket and pass links along with a sweet message: "Hi, it's Felix. I'm thrilled that you're coming to our concert. Can't wait to see you. xoxo". The warm feeling in her chest intensified as she watched him put his phone away, knowing that they would soon be reunited at the concert.
He said with a gentle smile, "There, that's taken care of. Now, I must go. I have to check out and get back to the hotel before the rest of the band wonders where I am. But I'll see you later, okay? Don't forget about me."
His brown eyes sparkled mischievously as he winked at her. He turned on his heels and strides towards the cashier, leaving her breathless and in disbelief.
As she watched him go, she couldn't help but feel a whirlwind of emotions swirling within her. A sense of joy bubbled up in her chest, mixed with excitement, giddiness, wonder, and curiosity. She pulled out her phone and began looking at the text he sent her moments before.
Zena's sister gazed at her with a mixture of bemusement and admiration, a smile dancing on her lips.
"Oh my gosh, Zena," she exclaimed with exaggerated enthusiasm, "you're going to a Stray Kids concert with Felix! How do you feel? Are you bursting with excitement? Are you a bundle of nerves? How did you manage to score the tickets? Give us all the juicy details!" She playfully held an imaginary microphone up to Zena's face, as if conducting an interview for a popular talk show.
She shook Zena's arm in an attempt to elicit a response. "Come on, sis," she prodded teasingly, "don't be silent. Say something. Anything. You must be over the moon right now. Tell me." Zara's playful whining continued as she eagerly awaited her sister's reaction.
Zena's laughter tinkled through the air as she playfully shoved her sister.
Her heart was racing with excitement and nerves, still in disbelief that she had just met a member of Stray Kids. She couldn't stop looking at the tickets and VIP pass on her phone, trying to imprint them into her memory forever.
As Felix disappeared through the door, Zena couldn't help but exclaim, "Dreams really do come true."
She turned to walk away, her sister trailing behind her, their conversation already turning to what Zena should wear for the concert tonight. Every step felt light and buoyant, as if she were floating on a cloud of pure joy and anticipation.
