"Ei..." You mumble softly, letting the back of your fingers graze her cheek. "Ei, I'm sorry. Please cheer up now. Haven't you been upset for long enough already?"
Meanwhile your girlfriend huffs and turns her head, swatting away your hand pettily.
"Ei," You chuckle, "It was an accident, I swear."
Ei whips her head around with a pout on her face. "How can it be an accident? I wrote my name on the box!"
You give her an apologetic smile. The Fontainian treats she had been looking forward to enjoying, it was true that you finished them off, but... "I'm truly sorry Ei, you know I am, but the box only had three sweets left. I didn't think you'd mind this much."
Ei bit the insides of her cheek. Saying it aloud like that really did make her seem quite childish. But still! Those were limited edition, and she was planning on savouring each and every bite.
Nonetheless, she thought as she stole a glance at you, perhaps you had been apologetic enough.
"I will forgive you." Ei begun, but raised a finger up just as your face was about to blossom into a bright smile. "On one condition."
You looked at her curiously, "What condition is that?"
"You have to bake me your brownies again." She spoke resolutely and you blinked. "That's it?"
Ei nods, "I have judged your crimes to be of little consequence in the grand scheme and have as such, decided to let you off with a light sentence." She says grandly and you smile.
"My god truly is merciful." You kiss her hand.
---------
The next time Ei finds you, you're hard at work in the kitchen and she feels a bubble of guilt surface inside of her. Her demand for your hand baked treats seemed fair while she was giving it out, but now that she thinks about it, don't you have to work super hard to make things like that?
Having no experience when it comes to these matters, the efforts behind these common, menial tasks were rarely on the forefront of her mind. So when she saw your focused expression, the impulsivity of her foolish display caused her cheeks to flush deeply.
She approached you from behind and wrapped her arms around your waist, hooking her chin on your shoulder.
"Dear..." She gently grabs your hand and your attention altogether, "I apologise for my...less than appropriate behaviour earlier. You don't have to actually go through with this. I was being ridiculous."
Your eyes widen before a sweet expression dawns your face and you shake your head helplessly, resuming your prior actions. "I'm making these for you because I want to, not because you 'ordered' me to or something. Seriously, you have such ridiculous worries at times Ei." You chuckle and lightly flick her nose, causing her to scrunch her face. "Even still, I should at least help out right?"
You pause.
"Ei...the last time you helped out you burned the kitchen halfway through. And that was when I asked you to boil water for me."
Ei straightens her back as her pride prickles, "I have no idea what happened there. I looked away for barely a second and then..."
You laugh and press a kiss to the bridge of her nose. "It's alright, the incident was hilarious enough to make up for itself in any case." You sigh, relaxing against her hold as your movements slow down.
Ei had always been someone quite self conscious of her actions. It was difficult to nurture her pride and inexperience alongside one another, especially since her skill was really only deeply rooted in the battlefield. Even despite that fact she still tried to handle you with love unfamiliar to her, spoiling you to no end with gifts and affection galore. Her efforts always made your heart skip a beat, yet as her lover you were not immune to the urge of spoiling her as well.
"Ei." You suddenly cupped her face, catching her momentarily off guard as you kissed her, "Don't worry about me so much. This is a small thing, and I want to do it for you." You speak firmly in such close quarters that Ei feels a sense of warmth blooming from inside her, causing her legs to go light.
Suddenly you remove Ei's arms from yourself and walk her out of the kitchen.
"Now shoo." You tease, "I have work to do. Come back to me in say...half an hour more. I'll be done by then I'm sure."
Ei turns around, "But-"
"No buts." You finish off with a laugh, cupping your face with her hand. "I want to treat you. I ate your sweets so it's only fair that I pay you back with something sweet in return. Unless..." you trail off ominously, "You're saying that you actually just don't want them."
"No!" Ei's eyes widen and you laugh at how quickly she changes her tune. "I'll let you get to work." She straightens up and dusts off her clothes, quickly walking off.
Archons you loved that woman.

Memories Of a Distant Time
A/N: Jean before she became the acting grandmaster should get written about more. That’s actually true for most characters and their pre-game appearance lives.
Hearty laughter fills the air and the entire tavern seems enthralled by Varka’s story, his natural charisma pulling everyone in.
You bring your drink to your lips as you listen in, occasionally interrupting to correct him on a few details. Spicing up the story regarding the expedition was a good way to hold in the crowd’s attention, you had to agree, but that being said you didn’t want it to be just plain incorrect either, and Varka’s tendency to do exactly that was increasing with every drink he had.
You shake your head. “That’s not what happened at all. Marianne sprained her ankle well before the abyss order attack. That’s why she wasn’t even there actually.” You corrected him again with a pointed look.
“No, no. I’m quite sure she was, that’s why we went back after all. To go get her?” Varka waved you off. You rolled your eyes “You do realise that makes you sound like a horrible boss for leaving her there in the first place, right? Whatever, at least it’s better than letting them know that the ACTUAL reason we went back was just because you left your mission report behind and didn’t want to rewrite it.” you smirked at him.
The crowd laughed as the both of you bickered over the details.
“Come on now Captain, don’t be such a bore. You’re making it sound like any other expedition.”
“It WAS just like any other expedition.” You pointed out, “At least it was supposed to be until the Abyss decided to pop in and say hi. Archons above that was a headache. You know what? At this point just let me tell the story why don’t you? I’m sure I could put a better spin on it, and on your incompetence, than you could.”
Varka put his hand over his heart and sighed over-dramatically “You truly wound me, Captain but you should cut me some slack. I mean, you said it yourself didn’t you? The abyss order attack was incredibly unexpected. I thought I handled it pretty well for how little experience we have in dealing with them.” Varka took another sip from his glass, “And besides Captain, your own feats of strength were quite flattering in my story. So that does beg the question I suppose… Are you only saying this because of a false sense of modesty, a heroic desire for a genuine re-telling—or just the need to ruin my story?”
“Well...if you actually have to wonder that then maybe you’re not as bright as you make yourself out to be.” You laughed along with the tavern as Varka prepared to bite back with a jab of his own. It was clear to anyone with two working eyes that the two of you got along really well.
Painfully so, Jean thought.
She sighed sulking off to some desolate corner of the tavern, feeling her stomach twist into ugly knots as familiar feelings of jealousy and defeat crept up inside her. Wolvendom was supposed to be her chance. She was supposed to walk up to you and start a conversation—You know, like any normal person would—Unfortunately for Jean, she found it very difficult to operate as normal where you were involved resulting in her barely even getting a sentence in let alone an actual conversation. She felt like an idiot, especially since you did try. You talked to her, and all Jean could give you was either a stiff nod or an awkward attempt at an answer. Neither of which made for good conversation starters as it turned out.
She buried her face into her hands and groaned. She probably looked like an idiot to you too. “Way to make a first impression Jean.” She grumbled to herself as she looked back up to see you and Varka still joking along with each other. Maybe it was the alcohol still in her system but she felt pathetic. Years of pining after you to no avail and every fault of her own, she felt like the love stories of her novels, no, the love stories anyone her age got to enjoy, were simply not meant for her. Like her mother was right.
“My my, doesn’t somebody look like poster child of loneliness. Let me guess, you couldn’t talk to your crush the entire expedition and now you’re feeling depressed. Am I correct?” She heard a suave voice snicker behind her and she didn’t need to look back to see who it was.
“Go away Kaeya,” she grumbled, “let me be depressed in peace.”
“As much as I’d love to do that as your friend, and the only person between us that actually knows how to communicate, I thought I should act on my duty to help you, say….basically get laid.” Kaeya gave her a mischievous grin and Jean looked at him cautiously. “Kaeya. What did you do?” She asked him, extremely concerned for her safety.
“Don’t even worry about it. Hey, here’s an idea, why don’t you go out and take a walk, hm? I’m sure some fresh air would make for the perfect backdrop to your miseries.” Kaeya dismissively said as he dragged Jean by her hand towards the balcony, not even giving her a chance to reply.
“H-hey wait a minute, what did you-!”
Slam
Kaeya shut the balcony door, locking it. “Kaeya? Kaeya!” She struggled futilely with the door handle “Open the damn door Kaeya or I swear to Barbatoes I’m telling Master Crepus about this.” Her threats were met with laughter. Not laughter from behind the door, no, but from-
She turned around with a flushed face to see you giggling into your hand. “C-captain?”
“Sorry sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt your little…tangent?” You tease and if it was possible, Jean turned a shade redder.
“W-well. That was” Damn it Kaeya really?
“Miss Jean. Please, calm down. Kaeya told me you wanted to talk?”
DAMN IT KAEYA REALLY?
Jean gnawed at her lips. She was going to have to kill Kaeya later but first she needed to diffuse the situation at hand. There was no way she was anywhere NEAR prepared for a situation like this. "That.." She subtly gulped, "Well...you know how he can be like, I'm sure he just thought it was an amusing prank. Or something." She mumbled looking down at her feet as if they were the most interesting things in the world.
"Is that so?"
She nodded, "I have nothing I wish to say to you Captain. I assure you."
For some reason, a quiet descended on you two and Jean became nervous. Did you not believe her? Or maybe you did and are just annoyed that you’re locked out here with her for no reason now. Or-
"Jean?” You spoke out, sounding strangely downcast.
Jean looked up. You were leaning against the railing now, looking…dejected?
“Yes Captain?”
You open your mouth, close it again awkwardly, then try again. “Do you hate me?”
Jean's eyes widen. “I’m sorry?”
You look back at her. "Every time I try to talk to you, you avoid me. If try to make conversation, you’ll give me standoffish looks or ‘assure me’ that you have 'nothing you wish to say to me'.”
You frown and Jean winces. Did she really sound like that? Wait-HAS SHE BEEN SAYING THINGS LIKE THAT THE ENTIRE TIME?
“Yes.” You deadpan.
“Ah, did I-?”
“Yes you did say that out loud.” You give a slight smile and some humour returns to your voice. Something Jean is very thankful for.
“Jean.” You say, “I’m going to be honest, I really admire you. You’re such a hardworking person, more so than anyone I’ve ever met before. You’re honest too, and kind. You care so much for the people around you that you forget to care for yourself alongside. When I see you, it gives me the motivation to work hard too.” You pump your fist, seeming uncharacteristically shy. “I guess you could say that I’m where I am now because of you.”
Jean’s mouth gapes and you laugh. “Too much? It’s true though, I’m not sure you remember but we met once when we were kids? I was training—nothing formal, just by myself—you saw me and came over, said I was holding my stance incorrectly. You taught me that day, for no other reason but the fact that I looked like I needed help. I thought it was absurd, but I’ve admired you since then.” You smile.
"I-" She tries to open her mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. How was she even supposed to reply to that!? She was sure her face was on fire with how hot it felt. Still, she had to try. She messed things up before, but that didn’t mean she could set things right. You were trying. She’d try too.
“I…admire you a lot too.” You looked at her with a mix of surprise and curiosity on your face. Jean gulped. “You’re someone I look up to a lot, and respect. You became a captain at such a young age, without any noble family backing you up, but it also made me think that perhaps you wouldn’t like me because I was already given an advantage at birth when you had to work so hard for it, if that makes sense?”
You frown. “Why would I hate you for something you couldn’t control? And you make it sound like you didn’t more than earn your place amongst the Knights. In fact, I honestly think you should be ranked higher, like a Captain, or maybe even a Grandmaster?”
“You’re flattering me.” Jean blushed, “There’s no way I deserve a title of such high esteem.”
“You do.” You say simply. “You’re just being humble.”
“I’m not.” Jean finds herself laughing. “I mean, I can barely even hold a conversation on your level.”
You raise your brow. “On my level?”
“Yes! Whenever you talk, the whole room becomes captivated. They laugh along with your jokes and hang on to every word you say.”
“You’re exaggerating.” It was your turn to blush.
“I’m not.” Jean smiles. “You’re just being humble.”
You snort. “Touché. But I’m being serious, I’m better a Knight than a conversationalist. I don’t think my personality is quite as suited for that.”
“What do you mean?”
You shrug. “I just bounce off Varka, he brings most of the charm.”
“I think you’re charming.”
You blink. “What?”
“You are.” Jean says firmly. “At least for me. Everything you say manages to bring a smile to my face. I like hearing you talk. So I think you’re quite charming.” She states simply.
You give her a strange look, and she grows nervous under your stare. Had she said something wrong again?
You smile. “You’re an interesting one Jean.” You kiss her on the cheek and Jean practically short-circuits, caught completely off guard. “I should go make sure Varka didn’t do anything too stupid while I was gone. See you later?.” You ask, Jean, who had completely short-circuited by the point, could only nod in response. “Good. I’ll be looking forward to it.” You chuckle and walk away, managing to open the door with no apparent difficulty.
Oh right. She was going to have to thank Kaeya later…

To my dearest friend,
From the moment I saw you, I knew love would be inevitable. Sappy, I know, but I have nothing against the romantics, when we parted that first night, I gained a subtle appreciation for the more romantic parts of life anyhow. And every day since then I spent pining after you. Growing to care for you more and more each day. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, you know that? I've barely ever cared about myself let alone anyone else. But I cared about you, and that was exciting.
I don't like dragging things on so I'll cut to chase. I'm leaving tomorrow. It's abrupt I know, but an opportunity came knocking on my door that I just couldn't deny. I'm going to touch the stars darling, and finally have the luxury to become human like you. Or at least that's what he promised.
This letter must seem confusing to you, one moment I announce my love then the next, my departure. The truth is, I know I don't deserve you. You once told me that love and fear goes hand in hand, but I've never felt fear before. Where I come from no one has. I could never love you in a way that makes sense to you, nor in the way I know you deserve.
So, I'm leaving. I'll return one day, of course. You can yell at me then and call me an idiot for leaving (or slap me and never talk to me again, you decide). When I do come back, though, I promise I'll be the kind of person that deserves someone as wonderful as you. When I come back, I promise I'll love you. Well and proper.
Yours wholly,
Kafka.

The sunrise at the break of dawn looks calming.
“How are you feeling now?” You press the wet cloth against Marius’s wounds.
“Better.” He tries to smile, but winces in pain and your eyes flicker to his, seeking reassurance that he was alright. Reassurance you got when he held your gaze showing no further signs of distress when you continued to disinfect his wound.
You let out a huff and shake your head, looking back down, “Better huh?” You ask, some humour finding its way in your voice.
“In all fairness,” his eyes crinkle as he smiles, “it was low bar to cross.”
You nod sagely, “I should have aimed higher.”
You move to wrap bandages around his wound making sure they were tied securely around his waist and he relaxes under your touch.
“I’m sorry.”
You look up, “About what?” You ask, pulling away when finished.
“I didn’t know who else to call.”
You sigh, “It’s fine Marius, I’m glad you called me.”
You don’t ask him what happened or why he was hurt this badly. It was a fruitless endeavour to prod a man this stubborn, and you could tell from the phone call alone that this was one of those things he just wouldn’t talk about.
You were worried—god you were worried—and you were oh so scared, but you pushed down your fears and gave him a smile. “Want me to drive you back?” You reach into your pocket to dangle your car keys in front of him.
His eyes pooled with subtle guilt, but his smile was lined with pristine amusement and he laughed, “Alright my knight in shining armour, take me away on your noble steed.”
You roll your eyes, “Any time princess.”
You take Marius’s hand and help him up, eyes flickering to the horizon as the morning sun now comfortably illuminated the sky. Time had passed you by and you didn’t even realise it. It was scary how often that happened when you were with Marius. You shake off that feeling and let go of his hand. Somethings were better not to be acknowledged, especially when there was no hope that things between you two would ever change.

Hello can I request Caelus,Jing Yuan, Blade reacting to cozy!sweetheart!reader with a tiny black dog as a companion having the title of "God Slayer"? It is due to them going against pantheons of gods and winning with nothing but their wit and their blade. Normally reader hates fighting and will downplay their fighting prowess, but when push comes to shove, reader will reveal their true powers as their tiny dog transforms into a massive church grim ready to attack those deemed as threats.
Turns out their tiny dog, became their companion after reader and them worked together to save the dogs home planet from annihilation. (A warriors bond if you will)
(If it makes you uncomfy, feel free to decline, but if you decide to do it, thank you soo much!)
A/n:- GOD THIS TOOK A HOT SECOND. Sorry about the delay, Mid-terms have hit me like a bus. In any case, I hope you enjoy.
Blade:-
“You’re an interesting one, aren’t you?… 'God Slayer',” Blade’s voice hung low across the bloodied battlefield, and you refuse to meet his eyes.
“I’m sorry, it was an impulsive decision I know, but I got the Stellaron in the end and–”
Blade scoffs and you look up at him, startled.
“The Stellaron? Is that the part you think I’m hung up on?”
“Huh?” You blink.
“When were you planning on telling me?”
“What do you mean? Telling you about what?” You tilt your head.
“About this,” He pointed towards you, the blade by your side, and the still massive Church Grim resting behind you.
The world around you had been caught up in a Stellaron crises, and with your hand forced, you decided to take matters into your own hands and secure the Stellaron for the Stellaron Hunters to seal. Something they absolutely did NOT expect, nor told you to do (though you had a feeling Elio knew anyway). You thought Blade would be more upset with your risky decision, which he probably was, but given the fact that this was the way you decided to bring up the fact that you were the God Slayer? His reaction was warranted, yet you still remained oblivious to the sense behind it. So you said simply,
“Oh…I didn’t want to bring it up, I didn’t think it’d be that important.” You smiled.
Blade blinked, and there was a momentary silence that made the foolishness of your statement known even to you, though you could not tell why.
Blade took a deep breathe, “You didn’t think I’d want to know that my partner is capable of taking down entire armies of men by themselves? Or that the dog that they keep around is in reality a Church Grim, something that honestly shouldn’t be capable of following you around like this, by the way. Or that they are the rumoured ‘God Slayer’, a person the Stellaron Hunters had been trying to recruit for ages no—hold on, is that why Elio led us to that planet you were on…?”
You give an apprehensive shrug, half glad that he’d found a new revelation to contemplate over. You didn’t WANT to throw Elio under the bus but he could handle himself better than you in the face of such confrontation. Who knew your little exploits would get Blade so worked up.
Blade huffed, “No matter, I’ll deal with him later,” he glares at you, “Don’t think you’re off the hook though.”
“Blade, I apologise if I’ve upset you but… I seriously didn’t think It'd be this important to you,” you frown, “I didn’t even WANT to earn the title of God Slayer. I didn’t know the title caught on that widely, or that you were looking for me. Seriously, I would have told you otherwise.”
Blade’s eyes search something in yours before he sighs. “I know. I know you would have. I just don’t understand anything about this. Why play the part of a pacifist when you’re capable of so much destruction? Your abilities must have come from experience, I recognise at least that. If you had spent this much time harnessing these skills then why waste them away like this? What point is there?”
His voice never raised in its volume, but it seemed to grow some sort of frustration in it. At what, you didn’t know. It wasn’t directed at you, he almost seemed to speaking to himself.
It hurt nonetheless, though.
“I’m not as strong as you, Blade. I was talented enough to learn those skills, but they were harnessed fighting a battle I never wanted to have to fight in the first place.” You leaned back against your sleeping hound and sighed, frustrated. “His world was going to be destroyed, you know. It was going to be annihilated, all because of a single God’s callousness. How cruel is that? I don’t enjoy fighting, but dealt with circumstances like that and the ability to help, did you honestly expect me to stand back and just—watch it happen?” You gave a shaky exhale and the conversation turned to silence once more.
Blade didn’t reply and for a while, neither of you spoke. The bloodied battlefield around you spoke as a chilling reminder of what you had done, and though Blade had always struggled to see the world through your sweet, empathetic lens, at that moment your feats were not impressive or worthy of praise, like they were to him, but a bitter means to a hopefully better end, and a future memory full of pain.
He reached out his hand and waited for you to take it, hoisting you up before pulling you into a stiff, awkward, and horribly well-meaning hug, pressing you close against him as you regained your bearings. He had not thought of the pain you must have gone through until that moment, and he regretted never having comforted you before, but he was here now, he could do it today. So he tried, “I’m sorry, for the way I spoke to you, it won’t happen again. And…thank you, for being there for me. You mean everything to me.”
You buried your face deeper into his chest and stayed in that moment for Aeons know how long, because neither of you could feel the passing time. Then, you pulled away.
“Thank you for that. I- needed it for a long time now.” You smiled wearily, but you clearly felt better. You turned over to call your dog, who jolted awake when you whistled, turning back to normal and merrily rushing by your side. He seemed to sense that something had conspired between you and Blade, and he tilted his head curiously.
“It seems I owe you an explanation too,” You laughed as you ruffled his head. “You’re not the only one.”
Blade’s head perked up. “Do you mean?”
“Yes. I’ll tell you about my past, Blade. But…”
“There’s a but?”
“You have to tell me about your mysterious past too. Since I ACTUALLY asked you about it, y’know. A long time ago.”
Blade sighed and you smiled, knowing that you had won. “Alright. Deal.”
He chuckled as you and your hound celebrated together—and he really began to wonder just how smart the dog was—before jogging ahead as you started to think of a good place to start.
“Alright so, I think I should begin way back when I was a teen…”
Jing Yuan:-
Jing Yuan knew. Of course, he did. As a responsible General, he made sure that the Luofu ran a thorough background check on each and every person entering, and with the name ‘God Slayer’ being so well known across the galaxies—it wasn’t difficult to pin it back to you.
He was curious, to say the least, as to why such a controversial figure such as you would be interested in the Luofu. So, he did as any reasonable person would have done if a dangerous foreign entity was caught aboard their home and called you over for tea.
One could, of course, describe the meeting as awkward, but the word could not do justice to the scene that had presented itself. Jing Yuan was taking it all in stride as casual as if you were both old friends, but you could not spare a moment to relax, for though his attitude was friendly, his questions were pointed, prying and—well, all around hostile in their nature. To put it plainly, you felt like a criminal being interrogated.
“This meeting has been such an honour and delight. Won’t you join me again for lunch next week?”
This meeting has satisfied me for now, but know that I’ll be keeping an eye on you.
You gulp.
“The honour was all mine, General. I’d love to join you again.”
WHY AM I STILL UNDER SUSPICION!?
Weeks went by like this. As awkward as they started out at first, but then slowly, the ice began to melt. Tensions eased as Jing Yuan was reassured of your standing, and you were reassured that he was not going to throw you in jail for your supposed “crimes”. You could talk as proper acquaintances, finally feeling safe enough to treat your meetings as non-hostile gatherings, then as friends, finally feeling safe enough to talk about your life and loved ones.
You introduced him to your dog, and laughed when he was actually caught off guard by how small it was. You reassured him that no, you were not making a little pup fight besides you in battle and that the dog was in fact, as the rumours suggested, a Church Grim. You told him tales of your adventures together. Of life on your home planet, and of the planets you had been to. The friends you made, the friends you had to leave behind. Of the battles braced beside your closest companion, and of the pain they had caused you. The complicated colours that painted your story entrenched Jing Yuan with a feeling of familiarity, for he too knew of the path of the warrior, and you both grew close.
Jing Yuan introduced you to his apprentice, Yanqing, and smiled as you began to dote on him, much to Yanqing’s embarrassment. You teased him about how fatherly his relationship with his apprentice was, and he told you stories of how he raised the boy, the embarrassing moments (for Yanqing not for him) as well as the difficult ones. You listened intently, and soon the sound of shared laughter turned into held breaths and silence as he moved on to his own childhood and what had become of it. His comrades and his master. The decisions he had made as he got older, and how unsure he felt of them. The wars he fought for far too long and the companion he had outlived because of one. His grief and deep-rooted regret. He asked you if he had done right, and you told him he had done all anyone could. The night air felt cold as you let him rest his head against your shoulder; you both grew close and closer still.
His days felt comfortable by your side. You were witty, but also sweet. You felt like his oldest friend and his closest confidant. He could not imagine a life where he did not meet you, and could not imagine how he had fared without you. He even grew closer with your hound, who made him think of Mimu as he once was. A simple stroll around the Xianxhou Luofu would make clear to anyone how much the majestic white lion meant to him, and for once Jing Yuan hesitated. The fragility of short-lived species was laid out clearly before his eyes, and Jing Yuan doubted if it was worth it to keep you chained down next to him. You were brilliant. You had done so much for this world and could do so much more.
He looked up and saw you bathing in the sunlight, instructing Yanqing on his training, reassuring him when he had done wrong and praising him when he had done right. Jing Yuan shook his head and sighed. How ridiculous of him, he thought, to assume that anyone, especially he, could ever hope to hold you down. He should, perhaps, let the years he had lived through be more beneficial to him, and let himself gain some wisdom from them. He had taken far too many precious moments and times of peace for granted, and now, he will at least not waste the time he spent with you.
He called you over with a smile and both you and Yanqing trotted in besides him for tea and a break, smiling and joking all the while. Jing Yuan let his hands lace through your hound’s coat and smiled as well, feeling as if he could not be more lucky.
Caelus:-
Caelus had no past, no point of reference for “cool” but he knew that you were possibly one of the coolest people he would ever get the opportunity of meeting. You were smart, nice, and so well versed in so many aspects of the universe that he could almost label you as a walking dictionary, like Dan Heng. Not to mention your adorable black hound. Caelus found companionship in the dog that he couldn’t compare to anyone else in the Astral Express Crew. You were there too, of course, and some might even say you were cherished as much as the dog was.
That’s why he always felt so inclined to respect your privacy on matters you didn’t want to disclose. Especially anything relating to the title you held. “God Slayer”.
Caelus had no idea how he kept himself from asking any questions about it, since it was clear that you would grow a bit uncomfortable with the topic, but he had already gotten so much practice from the rest of the Astral Express Crew’s secret lives that he just about managed. No matter how curious he got he had to remember, the friendship he had with you was worth more than your past, no matter how cool it seemed, and he just had to live with what he had.
Unfortunately, he was not too sure he was going live any longer.
“WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF THEM” Caelus let out a cry of frustration. This battle against the Mara Struck had drawn out far too long and though he hated to admit it, he knew he was getting tired, and losing badly.
With a deep breath, he tried to brace himself to launch another attack against the horde when he felt a familiar someone whirl ahead of him at an impossible speed clearing out an incoming bunch of Mara Struck with the swing of a blade.
“?!”
“Sorry I’m late! I believe you called for back up?” You shot him a grin, though your eye inspected him for any sign of injury, showing your genuine worry.
“When did I get time to send an SOS?”
“Since you were gone for so long I got worried. I decided to check on you and…well, you know the rest.”
“See and that’s on why you’re the best,” Caelus smiled as he caught his breathe and got up. “But I’d be more worried about how many of them we have to face. 2 V— Aeons…how many are there? Never mind. What I mean is, this really isn’t the most fair fight, and I’m not in the most ideal condition right now either.”
You smirk “Who says there are only two of us?”
Reaching into your pocket you whip out a dog whistle and call upon the cute little hound dog often found by your side. Except the dog that came was neither cute, nor little and Caelus let his jaw drop. The monstrous howl that announced its entrance felt like it shook the grounds you were standing on, an exciting entrance to be sure, but one that also served to distract your opponents. Taking the opportunity to strike, you leap back into battle, taking on the opponents with tact while Caelus and your Church Grim followed suit and you fought until the impossible battle was finally won, sheathing your blade as your dog turned back to normal.
You were felt a bit weary but all in all, good for the long run, and judging from your dog’s disposition, it was clear that she felt the same way.
“Good girl” you praise her—before being tackled by a panting, yet still somehow energetic Caelus.
“What. Was. That?!” He smiled at you, shaking you by the shoulders, “You were practically an action hero back there why didn’t you tell me you could do that?”
“Caelus, calm down!”
“Oops sorry,” He gives an apologetic smile, “It’s just that I’ve never seen you like that before, and you didn’t tell me your dog could turn into a giant monster.”
You chuckle as Caelus reaches over to pet your hound, both mirroring each other’s excitement. “Thank you Caelus, I’m flattered but it’s really not that big of a deal.”
Caelus deadpans, “Not that big of a deal? Are you kidding me? Even I was struggling with a fight like that.”
“W-well, you did take out a bunch of the Mara Struck on your own before I arrived and-“
The words dried in your mouth as both Caelus and your hound gave you identical stares of judgement.
“Never mind then…” you sighed as Caelus continued to play around with your dog. Looking back on everything now, it was strange to think how far you had come. The battle you fought should have carried a bitter taste in your mouth, and yet, sitting there with the two companions closest to your heart, you still felt capable of laughing and enjoying life right alongside them. Your days had never felt this fun in a long while and your past carried a lighter weight on your shoulders.
“Hey Caelus?”
“What?”
“Want to hear a story?”

Digging your feet in the sand you watch as the waves crash against your ankles before retreating back into the sea.
“It’s beautiful…isn’t it?”
You raise your gaze to the sunset overhead. Hues of red, orange and yellow melting into the horizon creating the scenic view that captivated your companion. It was a truly beautiful sight penned to perfection by countless poets and romantics, and it will continue to serve as a muse to the countless yet to come. Shifting your view, you look over at them. At their weary eyes and gentle smile illuminated under the soft glows of the setting sun. It was penned sure, but never truly to perfection, by a single longing soul that deemed it impossible to do so.
“It is.” You let your gaze fall again, resuming your walk as they move to join you.
Getting breaks was rare for them. Work, a daunting beast never appeased. Today was something to be cherished then. A light stroll across the shoreside, a picnic on the beach, a welcome escape at the end of a hectic week. You wished you could do more for them, but it was not your place.
You both traced the coastline with your footsteps, easy conversation filling the silence of the coming dusk. The comfort you found in these moments warded off the complications of everyday life until the world you both created was the only one left to stand in and everything else faded away into the background.
Tomorrow, reality will crash into your lives again with the coming dawn. Tomorrow, you’ll both be forced to carry on again with those motions. Today, you’ll enjoy each other’s company, cherishing the dear present with no heed nor mind to the future. If nothing else, it’ll at least become a cherished memory.

Hello! Thank you so much for doing my request!!! (Also I'm oki without Screwilium, the rule must have slipped my mind when I wrote the request, sorry about thattt 😅) The writing encapulated that winter vibe I feel when I go skating!!!! It was such a lovely read!!! Thank youuuu!!! I hope you have a good day/evening! :))
❄️
A/N: Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I actually had to go look up figure skating videos to do the request and I was blown away by how amazing the skaters were, so I kind of integrated a bit of my newbie amazement into Welt and Jingyuan. I might be hooked on figure skating now…

Hello!, I saw that your requests were open. Can I request Jing Yuan, Welt and Screwllium with a shy!reader who loves to figure skate? Reader is very private about it, yet also very pasionate about it. Reader will plan to go skating at places at times where there's no one present so they can preform figure skating tricks freely. If there isn't any music, reader will just sing it themselves. They'll skate for as long as they can, and won't stop untill either (a) someone finds them, (b) they're too tired to keep going,or (c) they're too cold continue.
thank youu
❄️
A/N: Dear snowflake, thank you so much for the request however I will unfortunately have to exclude Screwllium because I only write for playable characters. I had a lot of fun with this request so I hope you enjoy.
Welt:-
Ever since the Express had landed in Jarilo-VI, you had acquired the strange habit of disappearing into the world’s frost-covered plains, only coming back much later; freezing cold and completely drained. It worried Welt half to death, but since you never revealed what you were up to, he just had to get used to the feeling. It helped that, ever since you started these so-called expeditions, you carried yourself with more satisfaction and confidence, or at least the closest thing to those he had ever seen you carry yourself with. It was nice seeing you like that.
Today, though, was different. You were late. Late enough to warrant concern from Himeko and Pom Pom as well. It confirmed that he wasn't just exaggerating the issue in his head, which was the only thing he needed to know before heading out to find you–
And find you he did.
You were out skating across an ice lake, humming a melody that matched the grace of your movements. You were so focused on these motions that you didn’t even notice him standing there, enchanted.
He was awestruck as he watched you make great leaps across the ice, pirouetting along to a routine even he could recognize as extraordinarily difficult. So this was what you were up to then?
When you finally skidded to a stop, he instinctively raised his hands to clap for you. A move that proved itself to be poorly thought out when you swerved around to look at him with wide eyes, nearly tripping along the way.
“M-Mr. Yang? What are you doing here?” You tried to steady yourself, the shock, confusion, and embarrassment evident in your face
Welt chuckled, “Perhaps it would be better if you got off the ice first?” he said playfully, and you quickly slid over with a beet red face, moving to retrieve the boots you hid inside a bush to replace the skates you were currently wearing.
“So um… Mr. Yang…” you trailed off, unsure how to ask him.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about this. I myself am sorry that I didn’t tell you I was watching earlier. I’m afraid I might have encroached upon your privacy.” Welt gave you an apologetic look, and you flailed around with your hands.
“No, no, it’s fine, it’s actually probably for the best that you didn’t or else I would have fallen face first in the ice.” you awkwardly chuckled, causing Welt to laugh.
“If I may ask, you were figure skating, right?”
You nod and mumble, “It’s just a hobby I picked up from my home world, nothing special.”
“Liar.” Welt smiled, “If it really was nothing special to you, you wouldn’t be able to skate that way. I’ve seen figure skaters before, and if I had to say, you’d be amongst the best.”
You blush, “You’re flattering me”
“I’m being serious. Even if you didn’t want to share your talents with the world, you still ended up with a fan in me.”
You looked up at the earnest look on his face and smiled.
To be honest, figure skating was supposed to be a private hobby you could enjoy while nobody was watching. You loved it, yes, and you enjoyed the subtle comfort it gave you, but you honestly never believed anyone could enjoy it the same way you did. Yet somehow, when Mr. Yang saw your ‘performance’, as embarrassing as it was, you had to admit… it felt nice.
“Thank you, Mr. Yang. I appreciate it, really.”
A comfortable silence fell on the snowy plains. You hesitated, then asked, “If it’s not too rude to ask, what were you doing out here anyway?”
Welt’s eyes widened, “Shoot. I was supposed to come look for you because you hadn’t returned to the Express yet, and it completely slipped my mind just how late it was getting.”
……
You tried to hold back your laughter, but failed. This time, it was Welt’s turn to be embarrassed. “If you’re done laughing, we should probably head back now”
“Right.” you cleared your throat, clearly still amused by his misstep. Getting up, you begin to trail behind him with a smile on your face you couldn’t hold back. Maybe sharing this little hobby of yours wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Not when it was Welt, anyway.
Jingyuan:-
You took a deep breathe, then began.
Steadily pushing yourself forward, you carefully fell into the skating routine you had recently started practicing. Increasing your intensity with the rise and fall of the music playing in the background, the thin grinding of your skates against the ice being the only other sound that could be heard alongside. It felt like you were creating magic in the moment, something you easily got lost in until you couldn’t go on anymore.
Panting on the edge of the ring you reached out to grab your bottle of water only to find nothing there.
“Looking for something?” A suave voice called out from besides you.
You whipped your head around to find your boss, Jingyuan, teasingly waving your bottle in front of you with a sly smile. “I had no idea you could skate like that, why didn’t you tell me?”
You flush red. It was difficult not to be embarrassed when your literal boss caught you in one of your most private moments.
“I- I’m sorry General. Do you need me for anything? I’ll get right back to work-“
You try to stand up but Jingyuan quickly cuts you off “No no, not to worry. There’s no work to be done. I was hoping to invite you to a cup of coffee since you seemed so tired all the time but instead…I seemed to have come across the reason why, no?”
You gulp, “Um well, that’s-“ You try to think of something to say and Jingyuan chuckles.
“No need to be so tense, I only jest. I was actually very impressed with your performance here today and couldn’t help but ask, how come you haven’t told anyone about your hobby? You’re very good at it, I don’t doubt that you could even take it to an intergalactic stage-“
“General.” You cut him off this time. “Please. It’s nothing special. Besides, it’s meant to a more…private hobby. I feel uncomfortable figure skating when there are other people around”
“You were fine when I was watching”
“I didn’t know you were there!”
“Hmm, really?” He seemed to ponder this for a while though you find it quite impossible to believe he didn’t already know that. “Alright, new question. Is it possible for you to pretend that I’m not here once more? I want to watch again. If that’s okay with you of course. I wasn’t lying when I said I liked seeing you skate”
“You-!”
You had no idea what to say. How could he even say things like that with a straight face? Did he really want to see skate again that bad?
You gulp and reach out to grab the water bottle from his hands. Taking a sip, you mull it over, occasionally glancing back over to Jingyuan. How you weren’t as opposed to this as you initially thought, you had no idea either, but you wanted to give it a try.
“Fine” You mumble underneath your breath and try not to let your heart flutter too much at the sight of an honest to god genuine smile on your boss’s face. You slide back on to the middle of the ice rink, getting into position again.
As the music takes off, so do you. Twirling to the music you try to balance yourself on your skates but with the newfound nervousness that come with having an audience, even if there was only one member, you quickly found yourself slipping up. Very literally. As in, falling gracelessly on your ass.
“Are you hurt?” Jingyuan gave you a worried look.
You bit the inside of your cheek. How embarrassing. “No. It’s fine”
You get up, and try again, continuing on where the music currently was. This time, you didn’t trip immediately, feeling comfortable in adding that previous flourish you had when figure skating alone, but when you caught sight of the pride in Jingyuan’s face, your breathe hitched and you got distracted. Consequently you tripped.
You sigh in frustration, trying to get up again before promptly letting out a hiss of pain. Ah, your ankle. You must have injured it in the tumble…
Jingyuan immediately rushed to your side, hesitantly inspecting your ankle, carefully setting it back down when you grimaced.
“Not to worry. It appears you’ve only sprained it” He tries to reassure you but you have a feeling he’s telling that to himself as well. “It’ll be fine after some icing and rest, but I still want to take you to a doctor just to be sure.”
Before you could insist that you really were fine, you felt yourself be scooped up by the general as he began carrying you out, effectively turning you to mush. Your heartbeat went haywire and none of your thoughts felt comprehensive.
“G-general?”
“I am sorry for making you perform in such an unfamiliar environment.” He said, sounding incredibly guilty. “This is my fault. At least let me make it up to you”
You gazed at him silently then sighed, gulping down the lump in your throat. “A-alright. Perhaps it would be best to have to go through a proper check up”. You mumble, barely audible.
Jingyuan smiles before continuing on. How silly, you thought. You felt your heart skipped a beat once more.

You held her face in your hands tracing the weary dark circles underneath her eyes with your thumb. She always did this to herself but you couldn’t help the way your heart would break every time it happened.
“Jean…” You mumbled and the girl opened her eyes to shoot you a curious look, as if oblivious to your concerns. Even now she looked so tired as she gazed at you. Both of you knew what this was about. Neither of you said anything. In a way you were tired too. Of her false promises and meaningless excuses. She’d claim that that she’d learn to manage her time, that things would get better, and then nothing would change. That was exhausting.
“…Let’s go home Jean.” You finally say. Something mumbled almost absentmindedly that for once, she doesn’t fight you on. That came as a relief as much as a surprise and almost made you realise just how far your relationship had fallen. Almost, but you had long since settled for the dying embers of your love, committed to warmth that just wasn’t there.
Nothing would change, deep down you knew that. You were just too tired to care.

Lisa Minci is a lot of things.
A lot of brilliant, amazing things. Most importantly though, she's yours. A fact that never fails to bring a smile to your face every time you think about it. How incredibly lucky you must have been, you think, to have gotten to become hers as well. Especially now, in this precious moment with her asleep on your lap.
The midnight oil continued to burn as you gaze lovingly at her face, gently tracing her features with your hands. On the bedside table next to you, is the book she insisted you read to her. You didn’t understand why though, in your opinion her voice was so much nicer than yours, but it seems you underestimated yourself because it wasn’t long until she fell asleep to it.
Not paying much attention to your actions, you reached out to slowly slide off her hair tie, letting her hair spray gracefully across your lap. Taking great care not to wake her up or hurt her, you thread your fingers through her hair even untangling the few knots present. She had always been so well kept, it was no surprise that her hair was so soft and pleasant to the touch. You easily got lost combing through it, scratching at her scalp every now and then as well. It felt so peaceful, being with her like this. Like heaven on earth.
An airy chuckle breaks you out of your romantic stupor. “Enjoying yourself love?” Lisa smiles, voice a bit husky from sleepiness but it was clear she had been awake the whole time.
"You..!” A light blush forms on your cheeks, only growing a shade darker at the sound of her laughter. You huff and look away from her, pretending to be hurt by this apparent ‘betrayal’. Lisa giggles "I'm sorry beloved but I couldn't help myself, you looked way too cute for me to interrupt you" she reaches out to grab your hand placing a soft kiss on it, "besides” she mumbled into your palm “it felt nice you know? I almost actually fell asleep"
You blush "No no it's fine. It just caught me off guard that's all. Want me to continue?" You asked
She nodded, letting go of your hand to let you thread it through her hair once more. You watched as she slowly relaxed under your touch again. Her breathing falling into a steady rhythm as she slowly falls asleep. You smile as you press a kiss to her forehead, staying there a moment longer before mumbling a quiet "goodnight dear"
Blowing out the candle light, you slowly settle in beside her, drifting off to sleep as well.
Yup, just like heaven on earth.
A/N: See? I CAN write soft things.

“A long long time ago,
Inazuma was the land of Youkai. Seldom would any human beings be seen there. Those who would either leave or remain as the exception until their respective and timely demises.
However, as the ages went by and the times changed, so too did the nature of the inhabitants of this land. Slowly but surely, human beings began to populate the lands of Inazuma, paving way for the era that we live in now, where they live alongside the Youkai as but another species subject to the Electro Archon. Of course not all was easy, and there many many Youkai that opposed this change but humanity liv…-”
“Hey”
You poked the cheek of your fellow disciple under Kitsune Saiguu, grabbing her attention.
“Hey Miko”
“Hm? What is it?” She asked you, sounding almost bored. Well, extremely bored.
“Kitsune Saiguu might quiz us on this.”
“And?”
“And you should listen to her”
“What is she going to do if I don’t? Tell the Shogun?”
You frowned “She might. You could get in trouble.”
“I don’t really care if I do,” Miko shrugged “It’s not like it’s going to make me any less of the Shogun’s familiar. Besides…what does it matter to you anyway? If I get in trouble I mean. It hardly concerns you”
You kept quiet. It didn’t. Or at least it shouldn’t have.
You fell into a deep silence as the lecture drawled on and eventually, you went back to paying attention to it instead of Miko. You supposed that regardless of whether it did matter or not that Miko got in trouble but you for one didn’t want to disappoint the Head Priestess. You were lucky she didn’t already hear you talking, and it’d be best if you didn’t push that luck too much.
——————————————
The afternoon light fell on Narukami shrine, tunnelling through the various clouds lazily shifting in the sky.
You felt weird shirking your duties to cloud gaze like this but for some reason you had no motivation to work. You were…too preoccupied with your thoughts you supposed. Closing your eyes, you attempted to relax, letting your maddening worries be carried away in the wind. It almost felt peaceful.
“Hey.” You felt someone poke your forehead.
You crack open your eyes, annoyed at the impromptu intrusion. It was Miko. “Are you awake?” She asked.
You sat up and looked at her “No I’m obviously fast asleep, why?” You deadpanned
Miko rolled her eyes “It was just a question. Look, if you’re upset about how I talked to you before, rejoice because I came here to apologise”
“Really?” You raise your brow
“No. I’m kidding.” She went and sat down beside you, “I was just wondering what kind of idiot lies down to daydream during the middle of work. Was the lecture really so boring that you can’t keep your eyes open now?”
“No. The lecture was actually kind of interesting”
Miko shot you a look. “Seriously. What are you what those mortal’s like to call a nerd-”
You elbow her lightly as she laughs “I was just wondering about it okay? I thought it was pretty interesting to think about I guess…”
“Why? Humans are everywhere. If you wanted to find out more about them you could’ve just went down to their villages and asked. Or stopped one on their trip to the shrine”
You stay quiet for a bit. “They didn’t used to be this common though. It made me wonder a bit if there would ever come a day where humans would just run Inazuma instead of Youkai, because of how many of them there’d be. And it also made me wonder if, that day ever were to come, where the Youkai of Inazuma would go. If there would be any of us left, if only barely”
Moment of silence passes between you two. Then another. Then one more.
Then Miko bursts out laughing and your face flushes red in response.
“Are you- are you serious?” She manages to say in between her laughter. “They’re mortals. An Oni could wipe out half a village of them if it wanted to, I think the Youkai are going to be fine”
“It was just a thought” you look away, red in the face, “I was being serious…”
“Oh dear me” Miko clears her throat and tries to calm herself, “Okay, okay. I’ll try to humour you then. If there ever does come a time where none of us Youkai exist anymore-”
“If most of us Youkai didn’t exist anymore” you correct her.
“Right. If most of us didn’t exist anymore. Then…well firstly I’d imagine Inazuma would look a lot different” She says as she gazes out into the horizon, seemingly trying to imagine this hypothetical place “It would be filled with human villages. Dozens of them. There would probably be a capital too, filled to the brim with humans. Kind of like Liyue right? The Electro Archon would still be around I’d imagine but most of her soldiers and servants would be humans instead of Youkai. There would many human festivals and I guess they might even celebrate some of our festivals as well” She went off listing things as her gaze focused on this imaginary city in the horizons. You were listening in whole heartedly, enthralled with her little vision of the “future”. With the way her voice sounded when she said it. With the way her face looked under the golden hues of the afternoon sun.
“That sounds like the stuff of books. You’d be good at writing them. Stories I mean”
Miko looked over at you. “You really think so? Well I can’t say I’ve thought about that before but I suppose I could. Maybe when I’m a bit older though, I could share tales at the next Hyakkiyakou to practice”
You smile but it’s quickly overshadowed by your overwhelming thoughts from before. “What do you think of an Inazuma like that? One that, you know, belongs to humans”
Miko seems to think about it for a while. “I’m not sure if I’d entirely mind it”
“But none of our friends would be here anymore”
“I know, and I’m sure I’d be sad for a while but…eventually I would move on, like anyone does from grief. When that happens, no matter how long it takes, I would love to explore the various corners of this new Inazuma and check it out for myself. I think It’d be nice”
You shift your gaze towards the horizon, trying to imagine the Inazuma she so easily saw. “You know…I might not even be here either”
A silence falls upon both of you with Miko looking at you with an unreadable expression.
“Fine.” She sighs, getting up. She grabs your hand and begins pulling you somewhere.
“W-where are we going?” You ask her, confused and caught off guard. You however are not given the pleasure of an answer until you stop at the fortune slip shrine.
“Take one.” She says simply, pulling out a fortune slip of her own.
“Why?”
“Just do it.”
You sigh as you pull out a fortune slip. Before you could open it and see what It says however, it’s swiftly plucked out of your hands by none other than Miko. “Hey! What was that for?” You grumble only for her to hand you her fortune instead.
“Tell you what? Since you were so worried about what fate had in store for the Youkai of Inazuma- and by extension me and yourself- You take my fortune slip and I’ll take yours.”
You look at her, even more confused then before. “How is that supposed to help or even comfort me?”
Miko sighs, “Let me explain. If, in a hundred years or so from now, one of us does actually end up dying, your fate would still live on in my hands, and my fate would still live on in yours. Even if it’s carried away like dust in the wind, a piece of us would still live on in the other.” She finishes, looking over at you to judge your expression. “So? What do you think? Happy now?”
You stare at Miko for a bit, then you burst out laughing. Miko turns red, “Well, if you’re going to make fun of my idea like that then you could just give me back my slip” she says trying to grab the fortune slip from your hands only for you to move it out of reach.
“No no. It’s not that, it’s just…uncharacteristically sweet of you” You smile at her, “I like this part of you. Thank you. I do feel better now”
Miko pauses for a second looking at you. Long enough for you worry if you said anything wrong. Before you could ask though, Miko breaks you out of your thoughts once again,
‘Your welcome” Miko smiles in return, attempting to look nonchalant despite the happiness from your compliment radiating off her. “Now…didn’t you have work to do? I mean, I don’t care if I get in trouble but you…? That could spell bad things for you”
Your eyes widen in panic “Right! Shoot I totally forgot” You turn around and run to go complete your chores around the shrine, stopping only to wave goodbye to Miko.
“I’ll catch you later!” You call out to her
Miko chuckles to herself, waving at you “Sure. Catch you later”
——————————————
That was a tale from a long long time ago. So long ago, in fact, that you didn’t need to use the phrase “a long long time ago” to preface tales about the Youkai.
It was a curious thing for Miko to have been pondering anything so deeply under the light of the afternoon sun, but she found herself consumed by grief. So many things had happened all too soon, and time had not given her the opportunity to digest it all.
Thoughts of it all circled back to you, that day, and the fortune slip in her hands.
She mindlessly moved to open it. It was so old now that she could barely make out the words.
Great Fortune…
———————————
“The moon hangs in the night sky as beautiful and serene as the object of your affections. To whoever draws this slip, you have great fortune ahead of you.
Love will blossom in the most unexpected of places filling your heart with excitement you had not felt before, giving you the motivation to strive forward and achieve that which you want to achieve.
If you wished to get ahead in the romance department— now is your chance.
Your lucky object for the day: Sakura Bloom
Love is as beautiful and fleeting as the petals of the Sakura blossom
As such, it is important seize the moment and enjoy it while it lasts”
———————————
Miko could only stare at the slip in silence. She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, she wanted to throw the slip off the mountain side, but she didn’t.
Was this another one of the universe’s cruel jokes? To give her this slip, a snippet of time from the day you had met. To give her hope that perhaps, you had returned her affections even after you had permanently left this world. She could only scoff, dropping the slip and crushing the old wood carving underneath her feet.
How annoying…she really should stop believing in these things.

From Eden
The God of Freedom. The God of Contracts. The Goddess of Eternity. The Goddess of Wisdom. The Goddess of Justice. The Goddess of War. The Goddess of Love.
Each of the seven had a divine principle they had to maintain. An ideal they had to watch over. And when Celestia bestowed upon them gifts of power beyond what most could ever even begin to imagine, when they had been given lands to rule over and people to bathe in the worship of, who were they to ask for more? Would it not be selfish of them to continue with their demands of more?
Venti
Thankfully Venti did not mind being a little selfish. Not when it came to you anyway.
He’d spend his days glued to your side, singing ballads and epics about the heroes of yore, the legendary friends he had the humble honour of meeting. He’d smile as you listened with starstruck eyes and laugh when you’d try to pester him for more, asking him where he even heard the ballads, and he’d let his pride swell at how impressed you’d look when he told you he composed them himself.
And then at night, when his heart was heavy with thoughts of you, he’d write sonnets. Melodies he’d play in his mind over and over until the songs he slaved over sounded just right.
Odes to your smile and your bubbling laughter. To the tilt of your head and the shape of your nose. To the books you read and the food you ate. To every irrelevant thing that weaved together in the beautiful melody of you.
(His heart swelled twice it’s size and he hid his smile behind the piece of paper he was writing on. Like he was 12. Like anyone was even watching)
Your poem beguiled him in a way few had been able to. Your comforting tale that was filled with mortal bliss, ignorance, and of course, inevitable sorrow. A sorrow that reminded him of he had been years ago. That made him think about how little he had truly changed.
When the poem cut off, he was left unsatisfied with just the peak he got.
He wanted more of your teasing and your sarcastic little quips. He wanted more of your warmth. He wanted to hold you. For you to hold him. For you to be closer. He wanted so much, and then he wanted more. But that part of you was not for him. Of course it wasn’t.
He knew better than this. Better than the songs he sung and the poems he wrote, he knew of cruelty. Both at the hands of Celestia, and at the hands of him. You deserved better than the idealistic version of himself he showed you. The guilty heart hath no place for the love it festered, and so he cut it off.
He didn’t mind being a little selfish. But not when it came to you.
All the gods have their domains. That of the rock hard promise. Of the flash of eternity. Of the cultivated wisdom. Of the hypocritical justice. Of the flames of war. Of the frozen over love. They all have their domains. And his?
Well, as he sat outside your doorstep listening to the sound of the laughter you shared with your beloved one last time, he was starting to think his was loneliness.
Ei
Ei should have laughed at the very notion.
What had Celestia ever done that should make her feel indebted to them? What had they truly ever done for her? For her sister? For Inazuma? What had they ever done except impart cruel rules she didn’t know how to follow. She drove herself crazy figuring out what was too much, what was too little. What pleased them, what didn’t. What transience was, and what was eternity.
When it all got too much, the least she could have was you.
It was rare to see proper snow in inazuma, but the peaks of Mt. Yougou usually froze over during the winter months. When she was still Makoto’s shadow, it was usually during this time that she’d hide out a bit more, with Makoto handing state affairs it was best for her not to be seen at all by the general public. It was also during this time that she met you.
She was only on Mt. Yougou to deliver a letter to Kitsune Saiguu but the one that greeted her was not her friend, it was a stranger, and the most beautiful one she had ever met at that. She was smitten from day one, and you only really grew to be a familiar sight.
She had felt like a wretched and unworthy thing compared to you. From all the storms you and her had weathered together she could tell she only really meant to be a friend. At least at first anyway.
You had devoted your life to the goddess Makoto, then to the Narukami Shrine, then to Kitsune Saiguu. She knew she had no place on your list and yet she couldn’t help but hope that maybe, just maybe, she could find her way on there?
She knew it was hopeless. Sometimes she’d find herself cursing her sister’s existence, wishing that she was gone, that it was Ei you were so hung up on. She’d curse herself for thinking in such a way she’d catch herself, but the thoughts never really stopped.
Wretched and unworthy. That’s exactly how she felt in those moments. Wretched, unworthy and oh so impassioned over what should have been a long forgotten crush. And yet you had slowly become her most precious person.
Looking back at it now, perhaps she should have been grateful for your friendship. Or maybe she could made a move sooner. Whatever it she could have done was in the past now. All that was left now were regrets. That and the hatred in your eyes as you stood side by side with the traveller
Selfish. She should have laughed but she couldn’t. Not when she felt there was no better word that could describe her anymore, because her heart still skipped a beat when she saw you.

A thousand summers slip by year in and year out, and yet, every minute she spends with you feels like cloud 9.
Your sweet laughter and pretty little smile still made her heart skip a beat. She thinks it’s foolish really, being so hopelessly in love with a human.
Letting her heart skip a beat over the warmth of your hand on hers. Letting her stomach tie up in knots at the sight of the setting sun caught up in your hair. Letting herself bathe in your comfort, in your joys, and in your sorrows. Letting herself enjoy the quiet murmur of your voice as you both drift off tangled up in each other’s arms.
It’s foolish really,
Because she’s still holding you even now. After all that’s happened she’s still letting her heart skip a beat at the sight of your bloodied corpse. She’s still letting her stomach tie up into knots at the despair she felt when she thought of a tomorrow without you in it. She’s still letting herself bathe in the silence you used to fill with your chirps and quips. She’s still letting herself enjoy the sound of your voice in her memories as they cause her heart to ache all over again.
A thousand more summers will slip by year in and year out, and yet, she’ll still be here, pining after a memory long forgotten. Pining after you, foolishly, helplessly, and endlessly.
