Art and stories don’t have to be tragic to be profound.

We don’t have to further delve our minds into a miserable cesspool to create something meaningful and worthwhile. We can create things that delve deep into concepts that are also happy.

Suffering for the sake of suffering isn’t inherently profound. It doesn’t in and of itself enhance a story or other form of art.

And the world is so f-ing miserable. We’re all miserable.

And tragic art is a great way to know we’re seen, to address these problems and provide a warning of what they could end in if we’re not careful.

But I think we need some more hope, more happiness.

I mean, what else is there to do?

Maybe it’s just kind of frustrating that basically all the media I use as an escape from depression and paranoia just ends up deepening it. Like if I wanted a sad story I’d just look at everything around me lmao.

Powder and Jinx aren’t different. Not at all really. In fact one could argue Jinx’s growth has been stifled by her trauma and she’s always been Powder to almost the fullest degree.

The only difference was, as a child, she was harmless. The only thing that changed was her ability to do what she does.

Never at any point did Powder have any firm morals aside from what gave her validation, whether it be from Vi or from social perception (and by extension herself given she took to that perception).

The only thing that changed was the vessel that gave her validation - it went from Vi to Silco.

Jinx is just Powder with a working gun.

Powder’s problem wasn’t that she wasn’t “good enough” at succeeding - it’s that she couldn’t accept she wasn’t.

Just about everyone in Zaun and specifically Vi who Powder looks up to the most thinks that fighting for the sake of fighting is strength cus that’s what they were taught. That’s what they’re made to tie their self worth to.

It reflects how institutional oppression makes those being oppressed implicitly blame themselves, viewing themselves at not good enough to ward of the oppression, when in actuality it’s the fault of the oppressors for, y’know, oppressing them.

Powder didn’t have to be good at combatting the oppression. None of them had to be. Of course it’s helpful and essential to be, but it didn’t make them more worthy, it just made them capable of surviving the way they already deserved to.

The problem wasn’t that Powder couldn’t not blow up her family - if she accepted she couldn’t and stayed home without beating herself up and just accepting that she can’t and that’s fine, things probably would’ve been fine. If Powder as well as those around her accepted that she wasn’t fit to do it but was nonetheless worthy as she was, things probably would’ve been fine.

I mean, Cerberus isn’t the only good boy deserving of pets

It came to my mind that Stede never snuggled with someone in bed. Never slept with someone spooning him, or him spooning someone. Never woke up to the sight of someone sleeping peacefully splayed over his chest. Never emerged from sleep by sweet kisses peppered across his face.

Thinking about season 2 and there's room for some great conflict between Oluwande and Stede, if Olu is fed up with all of this after getting separated from Jim and left to die and Stede is Ed's Number One Fan. I think it would be a really good avenue for Stede to have more personal growth and for Oluwande to blow some steam off and get to show more of his vulnerable side - after all, when he was sad and miserable about Jim, Stede barely even noticed and now, because of his and Ed's romantic drama, Oluwande's picture perfect reunion (and reunion afterglow) was ruined.

He deserves the chance to hold Ed accountable too, of course, but there's a good chance the first episode could include Oluwande comedy going off on Stede and I'm here for it.
