While I'm not particularly a fan of the 5,000 different sites springing up every day trying to be the next big thing, Pillowfort seemed to be the simplest to get into, so we're working on setting up over there as FungalNetwork!

Since Tumblr is apparently moving most of its staff to other projects and will run this site on a skeleton crew, we should better be prepared. (note ahead of time: 'little' feels patronizing/condescending when used for [begin italics] ourselves [/end italics] so we will be avoiding that term in this reblog. use whatever term you'd like for your own system members, just clarifying why a different term is used in this particular reblog)

Someone in the tags brought up varying ages, so I'm going to join in on this too; a lot of the time, our syskids don't really.. have a defined age. They don't have a specific number. However, no matter what the age, they tend to lean more mature and able to handle themselves! Infact, I'm quite sure if not for the fact that we state an alter is 'slightly younger' in their Pluralkit description for boundaries' sake, nobody would be able to tell they're syskids without overanalyzing to a creepy extent. We also consider a 'syskid' anyone who seems vaguely under 18, so.. often, someone who would be considered old enough anyways, if not for the terminology.

We ALSO can't control who fronts. At all. The brain pulls out who it decides will help best, or someone who hasn't been here in a long while, or someone entirely new! We go through cycles of who's actually able to show up. So nearly 100% of the time, we just.. can't really control who's there anyways.

Our syskids can handle themselves near-perfectly fine, and when they cant, they know how to step away from a situation they aren't ready for. They're also pretty frequent fronters - hell, the Songwheel Subsystem would be considered a syskid in our book, and those guys front all the time! and since we can't really control who fronts.. the rule here is just "be smart, stay out of trouble, don't go on A03 without using all the filters we listed, and you're good." This has worked fine. It will continue to work fine, because we trust, respect, and communicate with eachother. We know how to work together; we've been doing this for at least 5 years, by now!

But despite all this.. servers will add rules that try to control where you allow your own system members to go. I know it's well meaning; many systems have less mature syskids (or littles), who could genuinely get hurt, or just don't understand the rules yet. I understand the logic behind it. But.. rules like these force systems with higher barriers, or less control over who fronts, or even systems who normally have GREAT control but just have someone frontstuck, to just.. not participate in the server whatsoever. Even though their participation wouldn't break any other rule, they are pre-emptively locked away from what could potentially be their only community they feel comfortable discussing themselves& in, because.. what, the moderators decided they know how your system works better than you? (I know this isn't the actual thought process there, but that's what it can feel like.)

Even without what the previous reblogger added, it's just.. odd. I'm not particularly a fan. So adding that.. yikes. REALLY not a fan.

🦴⛓️; One thing I don’t understand is how in some plural spaces there’s a rule like “littles must be accompanied by a big/caretaker!” As if we have control over that?

Usually our littles front alone. They can handle themselves, though (as long as Scout stays quiet, because pups voice is SO different and high-pitched and pup can’t mask pupself). Idk just fronting isn’t something especially disordered systems can control, sometimes non-disordered systems can’t either.

Offline we have our partner system who is great at calming us down when we’re triggered, and their own caretaker will front for our littles. I’m sure most other systems (especially those around our body-age) have their coping skills?

Idk it’s just a weird rule! Weirdly controlling over other systems! I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this and it’s really strange.

the bad news is that my mom was sad that her eggplants haven’t been growing; however, it turns out that the reason her eggplants haven’t been growing is because her eggplants were actually spinach. The good news is that her spinach is growing very well. She was also sad that her peppers haven’t been growing either, but it turns out that the peppers were actually eggplant. And I’m happy to report that the eggplant is also growing very well.
