preston garvey is such an og bro, and yes for all the reasons you're thinking of but also because like, he literally led a whole group of people from Quincy to Jamaica Plain!! AND THEN ACROSS THE CHARLES RIVER TO LEXINGTON AND THEEN EVEN FURTHER UP NORTH TO CONCORD.
he was watching out for this group of people who had just been run out of their homes. he stayed with these refugees throughout every disastrous place they thought they'd be safe, every death, and just all that grieving; all while struggling with his own sense of purpose ("Everything I believed in had turned out to be a lie.") and feelings of being a failure, that led him to thinking he'd be better off dead :( plus, these people from Quincy were strangers to him at first. he didn't have to do all that, yet he took it upon himself to do so. because he's just built that way. he's too good for the damn wasteland. </3
and like even after all of that, he doesn't hang the Minuteman hat up. he keeps on going, pushing the boulder up the hill in hope of making the Commonwealth a better and safer place.

Bearing the legions red and black is Brother Ariel, the squads primary marksman and former Risen.
The squads heavy gunner, Brother Garrow is an expert in heavy weapons, from laser weapons fired with pinpoint accuracy to suppressive fire from heavy bolters
Brother Harkos, wielding a bolt rifle, not the Marksman Ariel is they are an accomplished CQB and CQC specialist.
Brother Zahra wields a powerfull combi-melta, an anti-tank and demolitions specialist with special sabatoge training

Oh boy, have I got news for you…
Is anyone else a bit hesitant about seeing the balance dataslate for 40k this thursday?
I know a bunch of armies are in need of a rebalance, mostly buffs for the least powerfull factions like the drukhari, admech, grey knights, etc.. But as someone with 2 whole armies who are on the lower end of the mid tier by power right now, I'm not too sure GW won't fuck me over.
Especially since they've absolutely refused to buff the sanguinary guard in a meaningful way in 10th, presumably in fear that they'll be as broken as in 9th, or made the sororitas the glass cannons they used to be.
On one hand I whish Games workshop would put out more balance updates to 40k purely to do incremental changes every month or so, but on the one hand even with the quarterly updates it often feels like too damn many.
In any case, I feel as if Gee Dubs will unnecessarily do something stupid to both the codex marines and the sororitas because some metq-chasing assholes figured out that they can spam one too many Arco-flagelants or some guy showed up to LVO with 30 Assoult Terminators with stormshields. Or even worse, they'll skyrocket the points on a unit because everyone is using it instead of thinking about why they're using it, like they constantly do with the Infiltrators.

Shield Captain Augustin Solomon & Vexilus Preator Renatus Victorian
Custodian Wardens of the Carnifex Solaris shield host have arrived on Umb'ranox bearing a summons to a coming crusade. Forces of the Imperium are mustering a defense of the planetary system Theta-Gamma-1465 in the Pariah Nexus.
A single Custodes worth, as the saying goes, is measured in planets; to send two to merely "request" aid in a crusade is no request at all. As such the Lord of Blood gave the order for the full mobilization of the Chaliceguard, 2nd, and Cursed companies, as well as the entirety of the council. This leaves the defense of Umb'ranox to the 3rd and 4th companies; Captain Tybael now serves as the acting Regent of Umb'ranox while majority of the chapter's forces make for the rendezvous at Bahara's Hive with the rest of the Imperial forces.
Solomon and Victorian have now been imbeded as observers and council to the Lord of Blood. The Custodes attachés have also granted the chapter access to notabe armory of Terran relics to aid in the Crusade.

This sculpt is arguably better than the official IMO.
It keeps the peak in the armor, visually calling back to chapels, and it’s kept the cloak filling out the silhouette. From a distance he just looks beefier than the official model.

Skulls Sanctus Company Champion-Headsmen
Eleven there are, and eleven there shall be. Strong of arm and pure of mettle, our honor is theirs, and their honor is the chapter’s.

The Headsmen are exemplars of melee combat. Warriors of undeniable skill proven with decades of combat where they did not just survive, but thrive.
Tolvern Göttstein
(Tolvern is unique amongst the current Heasmen of the chapter in that he is the oldest. A warrior with little over 200 years experience, his skill and zeal for the duel has pushed him to the brink of death repeatedly. Yet, through timely intervention or second wind he has turned back every lash of fate. Over the course of his two centuries of service he has taken a placement as High Headsman, willingly surrendering it under the belief he had become slow in his old age.)
In the Skulls Sanctus, when a warrior of the company’s assault squads proves himself, he has two paths. Most join the first company, lending their martial prowess to the field clad in ancient relics, rending foes apart. Some, however, are better than the best. Their leadership and courage second only to their sheer dominating presence within the press of melee. Victors of countless duels against brother and foe alike, none remain who question their skill.
When such a brother’s skill is revealed the current Headsman of their company seeks out the chaplaincy. Its members assess the warrior’s chosen prospect. If found worthy they will declare “Aspirant Rising”, a ritual duel wherein the Headsman will be pitted against their chosen successor.
(Every headsman bears a book of ancestors. Within its pages are the names and remembered deeds of every champion and aspirant who has fallen in that company’s name. It is a holy relic, not one a headsman will part with willingly.)
Though the claimed intent of the duel is for the warrior to defeat the Headsman, none has ever done so. The reality is for the champion to see, with their own eyes and blade, if the aspiring warrior could be worthy of the title. Should they pass they will be granted the Red Skull honors. From that point forward they will be deployed only ever in strike forces or crusades containing the Headsman, the intention that they be kept near. In the event of the Headsman’s death, the aspirant will be given the fallen’s brain in a Soul’s Continuation ritual and rise to the rank of Headsman.
From that day forward his life will be spent between meditative communication with the lingering spirit of past champions, training, and battle. His only duty to seek out the strongest foes upon countless battlefields and destroy them.
(Tolvern is one of the remaining brothers from before the chapter’s Primaris reinforcement. Taking to his new enhancements, his bodycount of xenos and heretic grows ever higher.)

We didn’t finish the game. Cranked it to the bottom of turn three with the time we had then said we both didn’t know enough to talk out two turns.
But Anchent Edothan pulled an unimaginable amount of weight on the center objective. Man took two wounds then refused to die.
The flag flies high!
