God of Life Vance and God of Death Bruce:
everything must be in balance, and a character more inclined to give things life should not have any jurisdiction over life while a character with a general apathy for life should.
Vance has a general apathy over life- things live, things die, it's only natural. He gives life to things that deserve it or did not get a natural ending. Obviously, he's not apathetic about everything in life, and is obviously passionate about somethings or other (Bruce).
Bruce loves with his entire self. If he takes a life, it is because there is no other choice. He's learned how to balance life and suffering and death, and he still messes up sometimes, but he's got his support system.

The Nightmare Before Christmas X TBF
(like everything else, these are based on headcanons because some of the tbp characters have less than a minute of screen time)
Bruce Yamada | Jack Skellington
Bruce is the Golden Child, he was taught to be the very best and will not accept anything less than perfection
This also means that he's very ambitious, just like Jack Skellington
Bruce wants things, just like every other kid, but unlike most kids, he will work for it until he nearly destroys himself (I.E. before baseball district/state finals he practiced so hard he dislocated his shoulder twice and had bruises and little scrapes for weeks)
His ambitions blind him until he loses himself, and he doesn't listen to anyone else (which can also hurt the others)
He still cares for everyone else, and would drop everything to help
He also apologizes a little too much, and makes sure to hang out with the boys as often as possible when he's not in one of his ambitious moods
Vance Hopper | Sally
I'm not just saying that because their love interests are parallels, but while they have many differences, they have a lot of similarities
Even though Vance appears rough and ragged on the outside, he cares deeply (his home life wasn't great, and dammit if his boys don't get a happy childhood)
While he's academically not the brightest, he's got great social observation skills (courtsey of living with his father), and he's the least oblivious of all the boys
This means that he can recognize when a situation is going to get out of hand and he takes care of it first
He drives all the boys around like a mom
Finney Blake | The Mayor
"Jack please, I'm only an elected official, I cant make decisions by myself."
Finney can make decisions by himself, but he prefers advice, and most of the time he looks to Robin before making one
("Hey Finney, wanna come over and study?" "Oh, I can't, Robin said no.")
They Mayor's two faces represent BPD I believe, and while I don't think Finney has BPD, the movie portrays two very different sides of Finney
The first side is in the beginning of the movie, and he needs protecting from middle school bullies. He's kind of meek and a pushover
The second half, he's smarter, he kills the Grabber (at the request of revenge from the Graveyard Boys) and he's the only survivor
I like to call it character growth + fight or flight extreme, but either way, the Finney in the beginning versus the Finney in the end aren't the same, and nearly opposites (except Finney somehow remains kind)
