Ninjago Spirit!AU

This Is like, not unique at all but boy is it cute,,,

A few quick notes would be: The realms don’t really exist in this AU, theres semblance from them, becoming one with ninjago, but apart from a version of the first realm, they don’t exist. Dw about any characters you like from them though.

Spirit Overview

Ninjago Spirit AU, Each of the ninja and elemental masters embody both an element, a virtue and a vice. For all intent and purposes, since I am not creative, they will be called Spirits, though they are much more then the word implies.

Spirits in this AU, are rebirthed once every 500 years or so, and their former form is lost too time. Spirits are born with an element, a vice and a virtue. There element is mostly self explanatory, using Kai for an example, his embodiment is Fire, at his best he is Kindness, at his worst, he is Spite. Each spirit will reside within their own temple, within their own relic. (Using Kai again, his is, predictably, a sword.)

With in the AU, each temple had a guardian (For Kai, it is Flame.), guardians are parts of the Spirits souls, that defend and protect them, when no longer needed, the guardians once again fuse with the Spirit, but can be summoned by them again at any time. While some temples are closer together then others, most of them are in vastly different areas. (Such as Kai and Nya’s temples being very close to one another but Kai and Zane’s being on opposite sides of ninjago.)

Spirits can die, though only though being killed. This can only be done by both killing their guardian and then destroying there relic. This is often hard to do, since the guardian will fight to it’s death if needed. Though the Spirits can not defend themselves before someone passes their trial, if one manages to kill the guardian it’s often a much easier task to destroy the spirits relic.

Humans/Spirits

There a little more about them, but I can get to that in a second, Humans, are more simple, why can’t use magic, they can’t do much of anything special, they’re completely normal. However, spirits and humans, can have children. Which is exactly what happened when the Spirit of Destruction had a child with a human warrior. Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon was soon born, an oddity but also very much prophesied, because come on, is it really Ninjago if we dont leave the weight of the world on this poor boy’s shoulders?

Very few Spirt/Human children have been born in the past, and none too a spirit as strong as Garmadon, being one of the first spirit created by the FSM (First Spirit Master). Garmadon and Wu, were in fact, half human, but along the way, when their father was splitting his power, gained from the Goddess of Creation and God of Destruction themselves, he passed a large sum of those powers on to his sons, turning them into Spirits, though unbound by relics or temples. Needless to say, normally, Spirt/Human children would have few links to there spirit parents. (In technicalities, Spirit is not the correct term for Wu or Garmadon, as they far exceed them in terms of power, Essences is a more fitting word.)

What they could do however, was harness a Spirits Relic. The power of the Relics more often then not, would kill a human, and other spirits are unable to harness others, with the exception of the Spirit of Amber, whos’ purpose is just that. Spirt/Human children have the special ability to use the elements and briefly embody the spirits relic, because of this, they are often assigned with the protection of Ninjago.

Protectors Of Ninjago

As I stated before, Human/Spirit off spring are rare, thus, Ninjago often goes large amount of times without someone who can harness the spirits. This commonly puts people of edge, but apart from petty crimes, nothing earth shattering has ever attacked when Ninjago was without a protector. Leading to many believing that a protector is only ever born when Ninjago needs them.

Protectors, as stated above are able to weild Spirits power and relic, but while they can do this and survive, they must also pass the Spirits tests, which can be a simple as a maze to as hard as fighting off their guardian. This is a test of sorts to see if the Protector is really worthy of their power and is really able to protect Ninjago. One thing to note is that there has never been more then one protector at a time before.

That being said, the only Spirt/Human child currently, is Lloyd Garmadon. Not the he or anyone around him knows it. At the age of 5, Lloyds mother ran away with him, leaving his father and uncle, who resided far from most civilisation. Misako Garmadon did this both out of fear and selfishness. However, that’s for another time.

For the first time in history, Lloyd is not the only protector to be “born” into Ninjago.

Lloyd, is obviously one of the first, however he is very much the youngest of the group that would soon find themselves drawn together. He was a sheltered child until the age of 4 when his mother ran away with him, leaving his father desperately searching for them, before abruptly stopping his search for unknown reasons. Lloyds was raised at a boring school that was known to be pretty bad from then on out, with only a crumpled picture of his mother and father to have with him. It was only when he was 14 and his uncle found him that he was thrust into his destiny, told of a prophecy and being dragged into Kai’s trial first, then Nya’s.

Pixal was a virtual android created by Mr Borg when the man began picking up strange readings from a small island far out on ninjagos coast that even his equipment could sense. Through experimentation Mr Borg managed to create P.I.X.A.L, made to be compatible with the Ice Spirit and it’s Relic, though independent, she was very reliant on her creator at first, and he was protective, until he had to send her off to far into the birch forest of Ninjago, to fulfil her purpose and pass the Ice Spirits trial. After completing it, she ran into Lloyd and Master Wu, who had come to completely it themselves, after a short confrontation that ended in Kai and Zane meeting again, they agreed to ally for the sake of ninjago, and chose to start head to Coles temple.

In this world, Formlings are a small tribe located in the bottom of ninjago known to have the special ability to transform into an animal. Akita, herself, is unable to channel the Spirits powers, but has a stronger form then most formlings, being able to transform into a two tailed wolf. She had run into Lloyd while he had been searching for Jay’s temple near the tribe and she had decided to join him, against her brothers wishes, despite not being able to use the power of the elemental spirits, Akita is extremely strong in her own right. It wasn’t long after that they met up with Vania, who was traveling with her companion away from the now completed Earth Temple.

Vania, was an unexpected hero in this, her mother had been half spirit, being the daughter of the new wind spirit herself, reborn after the last one met an unknown fate. However, this was something that was kept quiet and when Vanias mother passed away in child birth, before Ninjago had a need for it’s Protectors, Vania gained her mothers abilities, as well as a gift from the new Wind Spirit in morning for her daughter, this came as her own Guardian, a Dragon named Chompy. Though the Sky Folk are cut off, once Vania learnt of who she was, she couldn’t sit by as she heard of a looming threat In the rest of Ninjago, with Hailbar and Mr Sparkles she snuck out and went to face the element of Earths Trial, meeting Lloyds group once she had completed it.

Echo Zane was the last ‘member’ to join Lloyd ragtag group of questionably aligned folks. While being forced to pass though the Birch forest near Zane’s temple to reach the Lightning Spirits temple, they came across an abandoned building, in which, was the deactivated body of an android, just like Pixal. Pixal herself took it upon herself to do her best to get the android that looked eerily similar to the Ice Spirit active again as they were forced to stay the night, while doing so, they found out through a man called Dr Julians notes, that the androids name was meant to be Echo Zane, who was based off the Ice Spirit. Zane himself knew the mans name from someone who used to often visit him, and put two and two together quickly. With Pixal and Zane’s teamwork, they managed to activate Echo Zane, who decided to go by Echo then. Zane had shared a small part of his power with him, allowing the android to stay together. This also granted him minor abilities to temporarily use the powers of ice, and thus, he joined their little group as they head to Jay’s temple.

The Spirits

Kai’s pure spirit form is that of a man made from pure fire, just as most spirits pure forms are. His human form you would be familiar with. He is the Elemental Spirit of fire and resides within a golden sword as his relic. While not often visible at first, Kai embodies Kindness when ‘pure’ and at his best, but Spite when he is ‘corrupted’ and at his worst. This can often make him volatile, but a strong ally to any protector that passes his trial. His guardian is a fire dragon named Flame, and his temple is within a active volcano set out at sea, with a small island around it. Kai’s trials often contain battles but will often end when either the trial goer is too cruel or when they realise that mercy or saving one they value if often the key.

Nya, like her spiritual brother and all other spirits, has a pure spirit from made of her element, water. Predictably, her temple is below Kai’s, deep within the depths of the sea. Her relic is that of a golden trident. Nya’s virtue is her willpower, she is known to not give up and stand for what she believes in at her ‘pure’ best. At her worst however she is stubborn to a fault. At her worst she will not give up on anything, even if it means loosing a friend or sacrificing her morals. The guardian of Nya’s temple is a leviathan called Flow. Her trials will often be based on endurance, and will end when they have proven to have strong will power, or if they have pushed ahead without something they love.

Zane’s pure form of Ice is very breath taking with how it reflects light most of the time. His weapons is a pair of golden Shrunken, the only of the spirits to have two relics. Zane’s temple is buried deep into the birch forest wilderness, among foliage and trees it is also one of the most peaceful. The temple is guarded by the Ice Dragon Shard and is rarely approached due to the dangerous terrain that needs crossing to get to it. His virtue is Hope, and at his ‘pure’ best he is a guiding light that will protect those around him, his ‘corrupted’ worse is self destruction, destroying both himself and those around him for a goal. His trials will often entail harsh puzzles and events that have a high chance of needing someone to be left behind if taken by more then one person, but will often force someone who is alone to think about those they left behind and if it was worth it.

Cole’s pure form is made of earth and rocks, though he also has a few crystals within his body that often shine out if he is hurt. His relic is an intrecate golden scythe. Coles virtue is Leadership, at his ‘pure’ best, he is kind, compassionate and understanding yet able to push people into action. At his ‘corrupted’ worst he is ‘controlling’, unable to allow anything out of his hands. His temple is located in the core of one of Ninjago many mountains, guarded by the Dragon Rocky. His trials often require one to show leadership skills, even if by themselves, such as compassion and the ability to take command of a situation, they often end if someone is unable to do so and falls back in a situation they could easily push through.

Jay’s guardian is a lightning dragon called Wisp and his relic is a pair of golden nunchucks. It seems like many temples are located near or on mountains as Jay’s temple is the same, located at the very top of a mountain in an area prone to stones just inward from the coast. Jay’s virtue is Courage though It may not always seem like it. At his ‘pure’ best he will stand beside those he loves and do what is right. At his ‘corrupted’ worst, he is Fear, abandoning those he loves to save himself and no one else. Because of this, his trials often insure a test of bravery, backing down being the easiest way to fail it. Unlike the others these often pose no real danger, and will only be an effect of the mind.

Wu’s element is creation and thus he does not have a temple, and is not trapped inside his relic, instead, he wields it, his relic is a long bow staff made of wood which is much stronger then it looks. His virtue is guidance, at his ‘pure’ best he is able to guide anyone down the correct path and help them see their true selves. His ‘corrupted’ worst is secrecy. He will keep everything too himself, even if it will hurt those around him, often for selfish reasons. His element is unique in that the more he fights with it the weaker it gets.

Garmadon’s element is destruction, the most feared, and thus he does not have a temple, and is not trapped inside his relic, instead, he wields it, his relic is a sharp curved dragger he keeps close to himself at all times. His virtue is Love, at his ‘pure’ best he will care and love deeply for those around him, doing anything and everything to care for them and show them what he thinks of them. At his corrupted worst he is Rage, the love held would be gone, replaced by anger and blood lust, not caring if friend or foe gets in his way. This can often make him volatile and dangerous. His element is unique in that the more he fights the stronger it gets.

(I’ll only be doing the main ones for now, however I might do the other EMs at some point! Theres way too much to this AU for one post, oops)
