ignoring how emotionally devastating the episode was I love how once joel accepted he was a Dad again he went from reluctant father figure to full blown dad mode. did not hold back. found ellie’s favorite food and a board game for them to play. took her to the zoo (the giraffe feeding scene). asked her if she was ok in the most gentle way possible. told her stories about sarah. compared her to sarah bc they’re both his daughters. told ellie how proud he was of her / how much he cared for her. opened up. said “we’re going home”. murdered dozens of people for her. brought her on a hike. you know. normal dad stuff

Angel and Demons 

So this is my first writing so please be patient and kind with me! I'm obvisouly watching good girls right now (like the rest of us) and my creative juices are flowing.

Summary: Y/n is the baby sister to Beth and Annie. She was away for college, and unexpectedly comes home to her sisters, claiming she's done with the semester but she has no idea what shes doing with her life. She learns soon enough her sisters and ruby are in a some deep shit with a local gangster, who he seems quite intrigue by this quieter sister.

SO this was really just a filler first chapter I know!IM SORRY. Rio will be in the next one! I’m almost finished writing it and should be posted later tonight!

“alright this is your stop” the Uber driver pulls up in front of my big sister’s house. I let out a breath before thanking the man. I grab my suitcase and backpack and open the car door letting myself out. The driver pulls off and I watch him go down the street. I should not be this nervous, she’ll be excited to see me. Right? I take in the Detroit air, looking around Beth’s neighborhood, as the sun slowly wants to go down. Man the suburbs gotta love it, nothing like the corn stalks of Ohio, god I hate Ohio. God awful state, but when you get a scholarship you take it.

I reach the door and push the doorbell, my heart picks up, I’m excited to finally see family it’s been a little over a year. The door opens revealing Beth. She’s wearing a a navy sweater making her iconic pearls around her neck pop out more. “y/n” She breaths surprised. “hey Beth” I giggle at her. “you’re here!” She cheers and pulls me in a tight hug. I laugh into her embrace and hug her tight. “come in” She moves aside and lets me step into her home.

“what are you doing here?” she asks me. “ehh well you know. Uhm schools done for the semester” I lie. I can’t tell her I actually can’t afford it, because I lost my scholarship due to a failing class. Damn stats.  My account is frozen until I start paying off this debt. She’ll just want to help and take on that weight. I know my big sister, and she has enough on her plate im sure, with a cheating husband, kids not to mention Annie.

“who’s at the door? You’re bo- y/n?!” Annie comes into the foyer of Beth’s home. “Annie!” I go and give her a tight hug. Annie is just a few years older than me, not too far we were always close. She was the fun, let lose older sister while Beth made sure to keep us in line...well mainly her. “you’re here! It’s been forever since I’ve seen you” I can hear the smile in her voice. “yeah, well you know, school” I shrug. In reality I couldn't afford not to work, I work 7 days a week trying to make some sort of income for bills and my debt. “are you home for a week or so?” she asks me. “uhm no, I’ll be home for a little while” I smile at her. “did I hear y/n?” ruby.

“hey ruby” I smile at Beth’s best friend. “how are you kid” She pulls me into a hug. “oh im good” I  laugh from all the hugs I’m getting right now. “how are you guys? What have you been up to?” I ask them walking further into the home. I notice the glance they all give each other before Beth speaks up. “oh you know just mom things, park dates, taking the kids to practice, working”  Beth says pushing me towards the couches grabbing some wine glasses.

“so, where you are staying?” Annie asks me, pouring herself a large glass of the red wine. “uhm I was hoping to crash here?” I say looking over at our big sister. “oh yeah of course” She smiles. “okay thank you! You won’t even notice I’m here, I’ll help with the kids, and cleanup” I reassure him. “it’s no problem were family. You’re my baby sister, I’m going to take care of you. Always.” She takes a big sip of her wine before looking at Annie and ruby.

Okay something definitely seems off between the trio, but I’ll throw it up to, it’s been a long day not to mention I did just drop in randomly at like 7pm.

After some hours of laughing and catching up, dean comes in with the kids. “we’re back” he calls. I speak up over the couch. “oh heyy y/n” Dean smiles surprised. “hey dean” I respond quietly. I know Beth forgave him for cheating on her but he just rubs me the wrong way still. “auntie y/n!” the kids come running tackling me on the couch. I laugh at them “aright enough of that” Beth takes her kids off me. “you’ll see her tomorrow go eat some dinner and then get ready for bed” she shoos her kids away. “well, I’ll get them going” dean eyes me one last time before heading out. “well, I should head home” ruby stands up. “same here” Annie follows her actions. “I’ll see you tomorrow I’m sure” Annie looks over at me. I nod at her and walk both of them to the door. “uhh y/n do mind going on and checking on the kids with dean” Beth tells me. There’s a smile on her face but I know my sister, she doesn’t want me to see or hear something. I look at the other two, who hold the same tight smile on their lips, with Annie looking anywhere but at me. “oh alright” I smile softly taking the que. “bye guys” I wave and turn around towards the kitchen.

I reach the kitchen but stop to listen, I am the baby sister would I be playing my role if I wasn’t going to eavesdrop. “Beth we can’t have y/n know about him” Annie tells her. What stuff? What are they hiding? “don’t you think I know that. She’s our baby sister, not to mention the nicest person I know. She couldn’t hurt a fly” Beth sighs. Aww they really think that. That’s kind of sweet. “well hopefully homeboy doesn’t do his random stop by” ruby speaks up. “well, we still need to figure out the money situation” Annie whines. “not tonight Annie. Get some sleep” Beth tells her. Money situation?

“aunt y/n ill race you upstairs” Kenny’s voice snaps me back towards the kitchen. “bet” I hurry up the stairs with Kenny a few steps in front of me. “YES! Too slow” He mocks. “mmm whatever you had a head start” I wink at the young boy. “no way! I’m so fast aunt Y/n” He lifts his head up high proud of his speed. “alright well tomorrow is Saturday morning how about we take this outside at the park. Even playing grounds” I suggest. “you’re on!” He smiles. “goodnight kiddo” I pull him into a quick hug. “night! I’m so glad you’re here” he mumbles into my chest.  My heart warms up, “me too” I whisper kissing the top of his head.

I walk into the spare bedroom closing the door behind me. Well, my sisters are totally hiding something from me. Annie mention money? Are they tight on cash? I hope I’m not a burden to Beth. I can always pay her for groceries and such. I don’t want to be dead weight. I let out a yawn, alright y/n let’s get my pajamas on and start this next little chapter back home.
