considering pockets for Isolde's evening gown, i think they'll probably be too visible in the skirt but i could get one in the stays

Redesign of Isolde's beach outfit, april 2024
The overall design is based on 1930s beach pyjamas (it's not a dress), I wanted it to be more flowy and transparent than beach pyjamas typically were and the fabric quality is inspired by Alphonse Mucha's artwork, the colours are inspired by medieval parti-coloured clothing. I think it would have some sort of matching loose robe with long sleeves.

i think i've decided to make it out of taffeta, because all the satins were kind of bleh and i'm wondering about using a colour for the lining (flashbacks to my original Isolde cosplay and the lining debacle), but i feel like unless i can find a black-iridescent lining fabric it's going to look weird so just going for black is probably the best option. The back is going to be spiral laced and there might be less fringing.
Isolde dress ep 75–76
i'm sorry for all the messy pencil sketches
Skintight black silk dress that has a bunch of different fringes in these iridescent fabrics that trail along on the floor behind her. It's one of those dresses that force you into that hourglass shape.—75.Fate

As with all of Isolde's outfits I started designing this with the intention to cosplay (this was 2nd on the list after her pins of fate robes).
My version in detail:
close fitting black shot silk dress
floor length skirt with train (you can see in the sketch below right that it used to have a tighter fitting skirt and less train but I love having to wrangle miles of fabric)
a thigh high split in the skirt (because you can't stop me)
laced at the back, ribbons fall to ankle at least
little drapes over the shoulder in silk, chiffon or organza (cold shoulder style)
iridescent fringing along the back of the corset (or from the point where the shoulder drapes meet the corset) cut in a sharp upward diagonal inwards
A drapey sash around the waist (maybe)

Recently, unconvinced by this design, I played a little with the shape, instead of being corset/hourglass shape, I tried 18th C. strapless stays. This is partly because I think I'm more comfortable with how my body looks in stays vs a corset. I'm questioning the upper shoulder drapes, and I've added a drape across the top of the bodice.

I'm now at the stage where I feel I have the skills to make this well, but I'm still struggling to find the right supplies. The horrible little accuracy goblin in my brain has also started making noises because 1) I'm straying from the hourglass shape and 2) it's not convinced by the amount of fringing.
If you want to know anything else about this or any of my other cosplay designs please ask!

Fashion of the Planes
Caer Leona because I think it would be fun to design, and to general inspiration I'd like to mention Frieda Lepold, Heaven Gaia, and House of Worth
Caer Leona
• Healing convent • The Mother • (Romanticised?) Medieval nuns • Wimple and veil (the more important someone is the fancier the veil) • Simple clothes, multiple visible layers • Decoration that links to the Mother
Cities
Empire non-cities and independent lands

Tsarina Sariel II, April 2024
Let's just all pretend that her eyes are blue and eldrin-y because i don't have those photo editing skills or the patience to try right now.
the crown is the only thing I made for this cosplay
My first time curling a wig!
I finally colour corrected my prosthetic ears
the dress is from a Galadriel cosplay and it's the first thing I ever made (you can tell)
I really wanted to play with the halo effect and it worked so much better than I anticipated
any questions about the design, set up, anything please ask!

Fashion of the Planes
Independent lands, and non-city empire territories edition. Cities edition. I probably won't cover the Kronos Desert, or the Wildes. Caer Leona.
Jade Isles
• Ex-pirates, sailors, researchers • Balmy, prone to tropical storms • Typical pirate attire (late 1600s, early 1700s) • Basic adventuring nerd and hired protection outfits • Practical and casual
Shifting Planes
• Centaur, orc, goblinoid nomadic clans • Hot, long grass • unfuckwithable • Grassy plains fashion (post 1, post 2) • Clothes to keep the sun off • Practical, suitable for riding and long grass
Bastard's Breach
• Performers, guilds, anti-imperial etc • Salt flat tundra • Guild colours?? • Practical and hard-wearing but gaudy • Eclectic, very personal
The Valley of Yalanthanil
• Cold, rain, hot summers • Elven, environment central to culture • maybe some south-east asian influence (cos of initial ideas first time I listened) • Draping and pleating

Fashion of the Planes
I thought I'd make a (long) post with everything I've managed to get down on paper so far regarding my thoughts about fashion in the Planes, mostly focusing on the cities within the Empire at the moment. I've definitely gone way too in depth, also I'm not a fashion historian, historical fashion is just an interest.
Eldrin Fashion
Faelyn: couture fey Chasiana: renaissance Ashtar: open and airy for hot humid climate (Eldrin don't have much influence)
Other influences
Art Nouveau, Aesthetic Movement, Classical Greek, Medieval European, Pre-Raphaelites, Louis XIV -> 1700s court high fashion
Things to consider
•Fashion is set by the royal court and the Tsarina specifically •Court fashion would be handmade and very high quality •How foundation garments inform the silhouette •How religion influences fashion •How fashion is adapted for different races (tails, long ears etc) •Put masc people in beautiful clothes too •Relationship between gender and fashion •Mix, match, and reuse •Import, trade, and supporting the country's textiles industry •Sumptuary laws •Colour symbolism and dyes •Political views through clothing •Fashion can be changable for the Court, slower for lower classes (no fast changing trends) •Seasons/climate •Decoration and embellishment •Makeup •Accessories •Cultural ideals/morals expressed through clothing •Titties out for all genders i will take no criticism •What's feasible in a historically inspired world + magic •Clothes for different times of day, occasions, company •How lifestyle influences fashion (fashion and class)
Ideas
•Faelyn structured clothing vs. Chasiana flowing clothing •Ashtar bells are a common accessory/decoration •Lingerie inspired evening wear and sheer fabrics (deconstructed structure) •Fashion armour •Ancient Crete style gowns •Headdresses, veils, hennins etc •Lace, embroidery, other embellishments •Sun/moon iconography •Romantisised medieval aesthetic

I've been wearing it for 2 hours and it's pretty comfortable but i feel like it could be better, i'm not sure how though
if you saw me say the corset was done on main last night, that was a lie. I'm redoing the straps cos the chafing was Bad. I got like 2 photos out of the shoot though and i might share one
