A big pet peeve of mine, that I hear on YouTube all the time...
"That being said" does not mean "the introduction to this video is over."
It means "I have made a point, and will now be saying something that may seem to contradict the point I just made."
Examples:
"It is usually cold in Wisconsin in January. That being said, the day of my dad's retirement party was especially frigid, even for the Badger State."
"The average person would go out of their way to avoid a scary looking bug. That being said, there are also many people who find bugs fascinating and would stop to take a closer look."
"Hundreds of people have climbed Mount Everest and returned alive. That being said, you couldn't pay me enough to set foot up here."
"There are some YouTube narrators who use this phrase correctly. That being said, there are several I watch regularly who use it incorrectly, and it drives me nuts."
