Well,actually Ferrus liked Guilliman.Although Ferrus acted as a tsundere in his Primarch novel, in many of the Iron Hands stories in the HH series, Ferrus clearly got along well with Guilliman later on. The only brothers he saw in his visions that he had a good relationship with were Fulgrim,Vulkan, and Guilliman.He also discussed his own characteristics with Guilliman,and had his sons learn Guilliman's defensive strategies.Moreover, their friendship also reflected in the Legion relations. Before the Heresy, the Iron Hands only had two brother legions, the Emperor's Children and the Ultramarines. I think this is very telling.
It feels like there are several different layers going on here and none of them reflect well on Spreadsheet Bob.
He forms a little Mean Girls clique of his super best friends.
He names this clique the dweebiest thing possible.
He does all of this in private.
You might not ever even know you were one of the Dauntless Few.
Did Ferrus? Seriously. When he died at the hands of his soulmate close personal friend lover bro did he take comfort in the knowledge that at least he had been one of the Dauntless Few?
Having gained this knowledge through the act of killing Ferrus, was it in fact the shattering realisation that he wasn't allowed in the Dauntless Few treehouse that pushed Fulgrim over the final boundary of madness and daemonhood?
The clear anti-bald bias of the Dauntless Few also means that it could have been this stinging rejection which sowed the first seeds of betrayal in Horus, Lorgar, and sometimes Perturabo depending on the artist.
In conclusion, the true cause of the Horus Heresy was Roboute Guilliman's formation of the Heathers at Westerburg High School in 1988.

A Lion/Roboute fanfic idea by my friend 徵羽:
The Lion was teleported back to 30k to stop the Horus Heresy, but in doing so, he would lost forever the future Guilliman whom he loved. The young Lord of Ultramar was not his Roboute after all.
I love this story, even though it was very sad.
Also it was Guilliman who sent the Lion back in time, and he lied and didn't tell the Lion that it was a one-way ticket. He just gave half of his ribbon of laurel to Lion as Lion's hair tie, hoping it would make his brother remember him. It was probably the most willful act Guilliman could ever think of.
So when the lion succeeded in changing the future, his hair tie disappeared. He knew that he had successfully prevented the most terrifying future, and also that his Roboute was no more.

When Guilliman was five years old, he smashed the door to his study( which was crafted from bronze and weighing at least three tons) in a fit of rage. It was the only time Tarasha Euten pulled his ear and made him stand facing the wall.
