Hello everyone, although I wouldn't have expected to post stuff like this, this is a time of dire need.
At around 4 AM GMT+3, an earthquake hit the southern provinces of Türkiye: Kahramanmaraş and Hatay with the power of 7.8
The largest earthquake ever recorded in the region since 1939.
People were't able to escape as they were sleeping, there is over 5k injured right now and the estimated death count surpasses 16k.
The entire army and the special forces have been directed to the area to aid the rescue effort with many nations directing aid to Türkiye.
There is literal people, sharing their and their family's locations on Twitter, under the tons of rubble for the authorities to find them. over 140 THOUSAND building are reduced to dust and foreign report that the damage costs are estimated around 3 billion USD.
As a Turkish citizen myself, although thankfully not affected by it due to living far more west, I am devastated and exhausted by this. That my nation who is already struggling from many angles, stuck by such a natural disaster that affects so many people. It's just so exasperating.
For the ones who are eligible, I really really urge that you donate to the Turkish Red Cresent and AFAD (The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Office) to help the thousands and thousands of people struggling for their lives. I will be personally donating also and they accept donations in USD and Euros. For the ones not available to donate, plase share this post around more communities so we can spread the awareness of the situation to more people. I am linking the necessary websites below. !! TW EARTHQUAKE !!
As you may have heard, there has been a major earthquake (7.7 magnitude) in southeastern Turkey. The earthquake lasted for 40-45 seconds and there are 1710 buildings that demolished.
If you're at the age of 18 or older and want to help, you can help by donating from AFAD's website (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey) Here is how to do it with pictures

I couldn't find how to donate in the English page, so I turned it into Turkish like this. I translated what each thing says but you could use Google translate just to make sure.
This page will appear. Then we click "Gündem (Order of the day)" (It's on the up right)
After we click "Gündem" we click "Yardım Kampanyaları" which means "Aid campaigns"
When we click, we see the list of aid campaigns. The one for the earthquake is on top of the list (As you can see the date is today)
(Dates are written as day/month/year in Turkish)
"Deprem Bağışları" aka "Earthquake Donations"
You can write the number you would like to donate and change the currency (and even 1 euro would be so much help since it's equal to 20 Turkish liras)
Then in this page you write:
Your name Your Last Name (not necessary)
Your phone number (not necessary)
Your E-mail (not necessary)
The amount you want to donate (and the money currency is next to it)
in the exact order (again, if it's confusing, you could use translation)
This part down below is sort of the "I read and I accept" part so I translated what it was about and what it says in this page:
What does KVKK approval mean? Explicit consent within the framework of the law means that the person gives his/her consent to the processing of his/her data, voluntarily or upon request from the other party.
Information and Approval Text About the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) The information shared by the donors for donation purposes can only be recorded, stored, preserved, rearranged by system administrators assigned by AFAD and who have the right to access and view the system, and they are legally willing to request these personal data. It can be shared with authorized institutions and, under the conditions stipulated by KVKK, it can be transferred to third parties, transferred, classified and deleted. Information shared by individuals while making a donation cannot be shared with any third party, institution and organization for any reason, and this information cannot be disclosed with any other exception, unless a situation develops that requires disclosure of this information by judicial decision and/or legal regulations, without the consent of the individuals.
If you're okay with what you read here, you click "evet (yes)" and then "onayla (confirm)"

Alright this is rly sad but here goes. I started doing my once-in-awhile bot purge from my followers list. And. I used to be able to just quickly scan and see the bots. They were the ones with default icons and generator-sounding names like "noun-girl-827". And if you weren't sure, you could click on the blog and it would be immediately obvious it was a bot because there's either just bad porn click bait, or nothing there.
Well. This time I had to give up immediately because I got like ten followers down the list and was having immense trouble figuring out who's a bot and who's real. Never ever used to see this but like 5/10 of the first few followers I checked on had just totally empty blogs. It wasn't until I'd already blocked 2 - assuming bots bc empty blogs - that I thought to check if they had any likes. And bam! There it was. All of their user activity.
We have people on this website now who have never reblogged a single post.
Y'all, I'm sure you're sick of seeing "you have to reblog thing" but you literally have to reblog things. That is how this website works. You understand that, right? How do you think the post you hit "like" on got in front of you? It wasn't because you liked enough things and Tumblrs algorithm figured out what you like enough to hand it to you. It's because you followed someone, a human person, who reblogged that post. And it came from another person who also reblogged it.
You are killing this website by refusing to interact with it in the way that makes it better than the other websites you ran from to come here.
Anyway, I'm sure you're all nice people, but I'm not going to play the "bot or not" game if you have an empty blog I'm going to block you.
