okay but why aren’t you writing road trip aus?
it’s literally the best thing ever?? you can have two characters traveling the country?? learning more about themselves?? learning more about their friends??
you can literally apply this to any couple. otp?? no problem. ot3??  hell fuckin’ yeah. ot5?? you may need to rent a bus for that.
driving shitty rental cars and living off of gas station food and going way too fast down highways with the radio up
alternately: “hell no you cannot survive off of gas station candy I’m taking us to a real restaurant”
getting lost on the way to the restaurant and having to ask for directions at a remote little souvenir shop
going to tourist traps just to buy shitty souvenirs for each other and compete for the most tacky ones.
traveling to super crowded cities and taking a couple of days off just to enjoy the feeling of being lost.  driving down winding country roads and opening all the windows because it’s like being found.
which member of your otp wants to go to super sophisticated cities and which one wants to visit the world’s largest ball of yarn?
staying in shitty motels, okay?  the kind of creepy-not-quite-real aesthetic of neon lights and soft linen and staying awake all night listening to the other person breathe.
alternately: you literally get the chance to write the scenario where the characters trade off seats during the night and the driver keeps looking at their sleeping companion and getting distracted because of the way the moonlight bounces off of their face and ugh
taking turns deciding on the next destination and characters declaring things like “oh my god, I hate the countryside” but they wind up loving it
car karaoke.  someone probably owns the complete collection of disney cds.  they probably take it very seriously.
characters who keep making more and more detours because they want it to last forever even though it can’t.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

Overwhelmed
You guys were very enthusiastic about Remy with sick kids, so here you go! This was very fun to write and came out a lot longer than I originally planned. I hope you all like it!!
Part 2 Part 3
—————————
Warnings: Descriptions of vomit.
Remy’s head popped up as he had that weird dad sixth sense tingling in the back of his neck. As soon as his eyes adjusted to the darkness he saw Leah’s small form standing in the doorway. Her hair was sticking up and one of her pant legs was up around her knee.
“Bug? Is everything okay?” He asked groggily.
“My belly hurts.” She whined, her hands moving up to her stomach before she pitched forward and vomited on the carpet. She looked at Remy with teary eyes and her face scrunched up as she started to cry.
“Okay, Bug. You’re okay.” Remy got up quickly and walked across the room, pulling her hair out of her face and rubbing her back as she coughed and gagged, adding to the puddle at her feet. Remy learned a long time ago to pick his battles while dealing with a sick toddler. Making it to the toilet was unrealistic, he just tried to keep the mess as contained as he could.
“Do you think you’re finished?” Remy asked gently, petting the back of the little girl’s head.
She nodded miserably and turned around, burying her face into Remy’s legs.
“You’re okay, Bug.” Remy said quietly, picking her up and rubbing her back. “Does your tummy feel any better?”
She shook her head tiredly, laying her head on his shoulder. Remy carried her into the bathroom and sat her down, wetting a washcloth and cleaning up her face and hands. “How are you feeling, sweetheart?” He asked.
“I want to lay down.” Leah whined, pouting.
“We’ll get you into some clean pajamas and then you can go back to bed, okay?” Remy brushed her hair out of her face and picked her back up, taking her to her room. He saw that the light was on in the hallway bathroom, but brushed it off thinking that Julian had woken up from all the commotion.
He got Leah settled in her room, he cleaned up the mess in his bedroom before returning to Leah’s and waiting for her to fall asleep. When she had finally fallen asleep he closed the door gently behind him and turned back toward his room. The light was still coming from the under the bathroom door.
Remy tapped on the door lightly, “Jules?” He called quietly, not wanting to wake Leah up. “Are you okay in there?”
“Yeah,” Came a weak reply from the other side of the door.

A sick boy
I’m one of those Voltron fans who has WAY too many headcannon and scenario ideas. Often times I think of my Voltron babes getting sick, and how the other paladins would take care of them. Here’s mine for Keith:
First off- Keith would probably die alone if he didn’t have the others. He’d probably ignore his illness and fight through the pain. Without the rest of the team at his aid, I imagine he’d go on training and try to tough his way out of being sick. Sorry Keefy, it doesn’t work that way.
Shiro: Keith listens to Shiro, so he’d be the first to tell him he needs to take it easy. He’d help with making sure he’s comfortable and gets what he needs like extra blankets and such.
Pidge: She would be responsible for taking his temperature and pinpointing his physical needs. She’d fetch any medicine he may have to take and make sure he takes it!
Hunk: He’d be the amazing comfort food chef. Hunk would serve up the tastiest soups and other soft foods. He’d even make sure to serve every drink with a bendy straw. Liquids are important when you’re sick!
Lance: Lance would provide his best company, cheering Keith up with jokes that hopefully don’t suck, and telling him stories about when he had gotten sick in the past. He’d help with all the extra little things like fluffing pillows making sure he’s not too hot/cold.
Winter is right around the corner! Get your flu shots! Wear a coat! Wash your hands! I hope everyone has a safe and healthy winter time! ️️

For an anon and @keefhawfromtexas
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Modern AU: Klance
When it comes to date nights, Lance usually takes charge, planning everything with crisp details because he wants to show Keith just how much he loves him with a special night, but when Keith asked for the reigns for their annual Valentine’s Day date only a week before the holiday, Lance was taken aback, only nodding for his mouth couldn’t find the proper words to verbalize.
Keith doesn’t start planning until the day before, leaving Lance a muted anxious mess– one that watches with silent support despite his heart dropping to his stomach and beating uncomfortably. Though, there’s more than just the last-minute details that have him nervous, and that’s the sniffling, the sneezing, the poor attempts at swallowed coughs, the darkening flush across Keith’s cheeks– all tell-tale symptoms that Keith is sick and trying to hide it.
Lance is at a loss on what to do; Keith seems so excited to pick out the places to go– so much that Lance can only smile as Keith scours the internet for the most romantic spots around town. He only offers his input occasionally, suggesting they go to a movie instead of a walk in the park because he doesn’t want Keith out in the cold weather or mentioning that a dinner in would be cheaper than a fancy restaurant– he’s polite about it, but Keith waves him off, telling him that he’s got it covered.
So, Lance keeps quiet, up until the day of when he shows up to Keith’s apartment. He’s nervous, and not the good kind of nervous. Keith had suggested Lance go back home the night before– to make it more romantic, he said– but Lance knew it was because Keith didn’t want to get him sick. He obeyed, but he wasn’t happy about it, and now that he’s at Keith’s door and the latter isn’t answering his persistent knocking, he knows his twisting nerves are justified.
He uses his own key and slips into the apartment. He can hear the TV faintly playing, but Keith’s not on the couch, or in the kitchen, or in his bedroom. Lance’s heart beats against his chest as if hammering away at a wall to break through, and he eyes the soft light filtering through the crack at the bottom of the bathroom door.
His legs are moving toward the door before his mind catches up to speed, and before he knows it, his knuckles are rapping against the door. “Keith? You in there?”
The lack of reply has Lance turning the doorknob fast. He pushes the door open, gasping when he spots Keith on his knees, with one hand raised and weakly gripped against the edge of the sink.
“Keith!” Lance rushes toward him, dropping into a crouch and placing one hand to Keith’s trembling back. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
“Blacked out,” Keith rasps out, and Lance’s heart stutters in his chest for a single moment before he swallows back the gripping fear to slide a palm to Keith’s forehead, hissing sharply at the worrying heat.
“Okay, you are not okay,” Lance mutters as he gets to his feet, guiding Keith up with him. “Let’s get you changed back into some pajamas and to bed–”
“Our date–”
“Is not happening,” Lance interrupts as he slides an arm around Keith’s waist. “You are entirely too sick.”
Keith pulls away from Lance at this, and despite the room tilting from the lack of support, he stays grounded on his feet. “I’m not, Lance. We can still go. It’s our thing.”
There’s something in Keith’s tone, some muted sense of urgency that’s laced in the dull rasp, that has Lance closing the small distance between the two and cupping a hand to Keith’s cheek– trying hard not to let his face mirror the concern that stems from the burning heat.
“Keith, it’s just a date.”
“It’s not,” Keith tries to argue, but Lance brings his other hand to smooth against Keith’s neck, just above the shoulder.
“It’s not about the date, you know,” Lance starts, voice soft, worried. “It’s just about being with you– it’s always been just about being with you.”
“We go out for it every year, Lance. I know how excited you get–”
“To be with you,” Lance counters, voice slightly raised. “Sure, going out is fun, but being with you is what makes it special.”
Keith, to Lance’s surprise, can’t seem to find a counter-argument, and this worries Lance– that and the fact that Keith’s growing very pale very fast.
“Can we get you changed?” Lance starts, smoothing one hand down to Keith’s shoulder. “We can take the couch and watch rom-coms. I’ll make you food.”
Keith only nods, and Lance swaps into caretaker mode in an instant. He gets Keith changed and bundled up on the couch with multiple blankets, pops a movie he knows Keith secretly enjoys in, and whips up some soup and tea, even going as far as to cut a piece of toast into a shape of a heart– a lumpy heart, but a heart all the same.
When he sets the food on the coffee table and curls up on the couch beside Keith, Keith sags against him with a deep sigh that Lance knows all too well.
“You didn’t have to do all of this.”
“I wanted to.” Lance says as he pats Keith’s covered leg.
Keith’s shoulders slump as he leans away from Lance, turning to face him with a frown. “Lance, I’m sor–”
Lance moves forward, stopping Keith’s words with a pressing kiss that Keith groans slightly against. When he pulls apart, he drops his forehead to Keith’s with a soft smile.
“That was a mistake,” Keith mutters. “You’ll get sick now.”
Lance breathes out a huff of a laugh, breath dancing across Keith’s skin and leaving him shivering slightly.
“Probably, but I don’t care.”

When they walk into the bathroom all casual, close the door, lock it…
…and then proceed to throw up, shaking from violent spasms in their stomach with their face and neck absolutely drenched in sweat, clutching the sink or bowl for dear life and focusing on the one goal of staying conscious and wrapping things up quickly. They dry their face off with whatever shitty paper towels within reach, clear their throat a few times, straighten up through the quivers in their spine and stagger to the door knob
and come back out acting completely casual and normal again like nothing ever happened.

Ma heart-
Okay uhhh
Picture this. The sickie is visibly nauseous. A hand pressed to their stomach, grey/green in the face, hiccuping, swallowing, eyes unfocused, sickly belches, sweaty etc. They’re in a public place with some friends and/or s/o, and nobody but the not-so-close friend has noticed how sick the sickie actually is. They keep an eye on them, watching their swallowing become more and more forced, expression grow more pained, hiccuping becoming more frequent, etc, so they decide to take action. They quietly lead the sickie away to the bathroom after whispering an “Are you okay?” And getting a weak shake of the head. After helping them into a stall, the sickie immediately falls to their knees in front of the toilet and burp up a wave of sick. Since they aren’t very good friends with them, the caretaker is a little hesitant to do anything, but move past that awkwardness to hold their hair back if needed, or rub their back etc. Once they finish, the caretaker quietly leads them out to their car and takes them back to their apartment, where they then text/call the closer friend/s/o to tell them that they brought the sickie home because they got sick in the bathroom and were (possibly) feverish.

SickFic Prompts
I’ve been craving SickFic, so have some prompts and feel free to tag me here at @wordmage because I would love to see your takes on the prompts below. Feel free to add more, or use it for RP/art, whatever. I plan to try and fill them all out, myself.
99.9% Immunity - (character) never gets sick, right? Wrong.
Elephant in the Room - (character) is sick, but for some reason - rank, personality, etc - no one is talking about it
Heroes Don’t Take Sick Days - there’s no time to rest when you have to save the world, so (character) has to push themselves even when miserable
Insult to Injury - as if being injured wasn’t enough, (character) is getting sick too
Ill Timed - it’s the worst possible time for (character) to be sick, but their body didn’t get the memo
Irreplaceable - (character) is the leader/boss and isn’t able to take personal time off, even when they’re under the weather
It’s Nothing - (character) insists they’re fine, right up until they collapse
Medic Down - every group seems to have a primary caretaker. How do they handle it when (character) is the one sick?
Milking It - if (character) has to be sick, they’re at least going to get as much pampering out of others as they can
Not a Word - (character) said they don’t get sick, and isn’t in the mood for anyone to remind them while they recover
No Rest for the Wicked - the big bad (character) has more to worry about than the good guys
Open Secret - everyone knows (character) is sick, but they’re trying so hard no one has said anything
Persuasive Partners - (character) is sick, and refusing to stay put; their partner(s) give them a good reason to stay in bed
Stepping Up - boss/leader (character) is clearly miserable, so the others go out of their way to take as much of their workload as possible
Suffer in Silence - for whatever reason, (character) doesn’t want anyone to know they’re sick, and does everything they can to hide it
Take One Down… - (character) gets sick, and spreads it to the rest of the group
Team Mom/Dad - (character) is the one to always take care of others on the team
The Wolf Cries True - (character) has been known to exaggerate or even pretend they’re sick, only this time they’re telling the truth
This is Your Fault - (character A) was clingy while they were sick, and now (character B) has it
Why Didn’t You Say? - (character) hasn’t been feeling well, making for some uncharacteristic behavior, and their partner(s)/team/friends are much more understanding once they realize why

My favorite thing
I’m all for worst case scenarios. Sinking ship? The water soaked them and now they’ve got the flu, and a raging fever to boot. For some reason I always find caretaking the most endearing with few resources, like on a lifeboat. Spy mission? They catch a terrible cold on their first day and have to remain unnoticeable. Cue a shit ton of makeup and a scarf to hide their nose. Stranded somewhere? CATCH ALL THE SICKNESS.

More worst case scenarios because I am wEaK for that moment when character has to keep powering on even as their body is begging to just D R O P 1. Singer who is just beginning their much anticipated tour and finds themselves feeling like shit but NO they can absolutely NOT be getting sick no no no no no no no. 2. Character in a leadership position (captain, commander, dictator idk) is leading their forces into battle and it’s only the third or so day of long tedious fighting and they need to be in top shape but uh oh their enemies are in the midst of cold/flu season and that’s not working out too well for them. 3. For some reason a character is a fugitive (whether or not they are actually guilty of something who knows) and they have to constantly be on the move but what’s this? A fever? 4. Shit shit shit the character procrastinated way too much and suddenly it’s 10 pm the night before an important essay is due and they have a HORRIBLE cough and fever and their nose won’t stop itching and their throat hurts like all hell and how they wish they’d done this sooner but nope now they have no choice but to work until it’s finished, despite all misery.
Probably more to come, tbh.
