Top Five Mistakes People Make When Buying a Sword
Buying a sword is an important decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. You are investing in either a beautifully crafted weapon, a stunning display piece or a head-turning cosplay accessory. Those are some of the reasons people purchase swords. However, some first-time sword buyers make mistakes when they purchase.
Here are five common mistakes that are made and how to avoid them before you purchase that sword of your dreams.
Functional or Decorative
People don’t know the difference between functional and ornamental which is that the very first thing that you got to know when you’re purchasing a sword. If you’re trying to find a sword which will slice into grass mats and other objects, then the blade must be razor-sharp and made of high steel . If you’re trying to find an accessory for your cosplay costume, then you would like a sword that features a false-edged blade for safety purposes. Bleeding or causing someone else to bleed is not an excellent thanks to end your cosplay event appearance. another option for cosplay, if you’ll actually be doing battle, are foam swords that look incredibly real but are harmless when used.
Display
People will buy a sword for his or her home but never consider how they’re getting to display it once they catch on . If you’re buying a sword to display, you would like to make a decision where and the way you’re getting to display it. the more severe thing in the world would be to possess it damaged because it wasn’t out of harm’s way or displayed during a but adequate way. In other words, two nails driven into you wall to hold it from or rest it on is certainly not the solution . So, once you have picked out the sword that you simply want, confirm that you also choose a display stand or display unit to travel with it. And if you buy a unit which will display quite one sword, you’ll always still increase your sword collection, knowing that they will be safe and securely displayed. There’s nothing more striking then a beautifully displayed sword collection.
Expectations
People will buy a sword then expect it to perform tasks it wasn’t designed to perform. Okay, if I’ve said this once, I’ve said it 100 times, don’t use a sword to hack at a tree or attempt to chop a tree katana to withstand that kind of abuse, then don’t buy a sword. that’s what an axe or machete is for. If you’re expecting a. High steel and Damascus steel blades that are razor-sharp are incredible to watch in action. they will slice into a spread of objects like butter but don’t expect them to perform ridiculous tasks like cutting through a concrete wall or tree. Never, ever expect a display sword, which is crafted of a lower steel , to perform sort of a high steel functional sword. It’s called a display sword for a reason.
Settling
People will accept a sword because it’s cheaper and that they don’t want to spend the cash for the sword that they actually need . you’ll never be proud of your purchase if you are doing this and you’ll be ultimately short-changing yourself.

What is the significance of Sikh Kara?
Sikh religion is the world’s fifth-largest religion, with more than 25 million adherents worldwide. This religion is known for its sacrifices and rich cultural traditions. You can easily recognize a Sikh standing in the crowd. Their turban, attire and five kakkars perfectly represent the rich culture of Sikhs. They wear all these things with utmost pride and happiness.
Punjabi Kara or Sikh Kara is one of the five kakkars. If we look back in history, the Kara was instituted by the tenth guru of sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the Baishakhi Amrit Sanchar in 1699.
The Kara symbolizes an unbreakable attachment with God and commitment towards the religion.
The steel bracelet is a constant reminder of the Sikh’s mission on this earth. It reminds them to carry righteous and faithful deeds and actions, keeping with the advice given by the Guru.
Design of a Kara
Sikh Kara is in the shape of a circle with no beginning and no end. This shape epitomizes the eternal nature of God. The basic Kara is a simple, unadorned steel bracelet usually worn on the hands or wrist of men and women.
At Shree Amritsar Swords, we offer you some of the best designer karas handcrafted with perfection. These designs are handcrafted at par with the preferences of our customers.
The symbolic importance of Sikh Kara
Punjabis have their rituals and beliefs to lead life. Punjabi Kara or Sikh Kara is one of the five kakkars. Sikhism is a religion known for its history. Our Sikh Gurus had sacrificed their lives for their people and religion. Kara is a steel bracelet which was introduced by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
This bracelet depicts the selfless nature of Sikh people. Moreover, it also depicts the permanent bonding of Sikhs with their community. While wearing a Kara, Sikhs promise to help people in the hour of need.
Additionally, if we dig into Sikh history, we will come to know about its origin. The Kara, initially, originated as a protective ring to guard the sword arm of the Khalsa warriors during battle. Moreover, in earlier times it was used as a knuckle-duster for hand-to-hand combat.
People wear Kara with a belief to get connected with God. However, people of other religions also wear Kara due to its beauty and as a style statement. It is believed that Punjabi kara protects from danger. Moreover, this kara symbolizes concealment and courtesy. Symbolically, it is also associated with the Sikh concept of being linked with the supreme power. It reminds people of living and working under the super divine power
Kara holds a special place in people’s hearts even in this modern world. This steel bracelet is a Sikh symbol that is linked to the Guru. The Kara acts as a reminder that a Sikh should not do anything which the Guru would not approve. He should work for the good and welfare of people.
Kara — Symbolism of giving Reverence to your Religion
Wearing a Kara symbolizes that you are devoted to your god and religion. When Sikhs wear this kara they feel a close connection with god.
Moreover, the design of Kara is a symbol of God having no beginning and no end. You can feel a close attachment with your god when you wear it.
Acts as a Protector
Kara is similar to the evil eye protector bracelets. People wear it for protection. Kara guides you from the outside or inside. In addition to protecting you from negative karma, it reminds you not to use your hands for evil deeds.

Gold Koftgari Art Sword - Shree Amritsar Sword
Recently I hade many queries regarding koftgari art. There are many questions like is that real gold or silver used, is it a form of electroplating or something? How is it done ? So in this post, I’m explaining what actually is Koftgari art/ work and the way is it done. In past swords were considered as a symbol of power, wealth and keep one’s self-esteem high. They were decorated with gold, silver, and other precious stones. Decorating the sword hilt, blades, and scabbard with pure gold and silver is thought as Koftgari Art.
Tumblr media
In Koftgari very fine 24 kt pure gold or silver wire is damascened on steel with different tools in various floral or geometric patterns, giving an upscale and royal look to the sword.
First, we make the scratches with a really sharp knife type tool on the bottom then a really fine wire ( with a thickness of hair) of gold or silver is damascened with a pen-style tool making the specified image or pattern on the bottom .
Final touches of polishing are done by rubbing the pure agate (Hakik) stone on gold or silver giving a lustrous finish to the work. Various hunting scenes and other attractive scenes were created with the gold and silver wires. there have been different names for various scenes during this art. Like hunting scenes were mentioned as “Shikargah”. If a floral pattern was done on borders only, then it had been referred to as “Korbandi”. the mixture of silver and gold work is understood as “Ganga- Jamni” named after the 2 famous rivers of India.
On different occasions, kings and nobles to carry swords with different work patterns. While attending the royal court gold koftgari sword was carried and on marriages, silver koftgari swords were worn by the attendants and therefore the groom wont to carry the sword with gold koftgari work. There are many samples of religious inscriptions and therefore the name of the sword owner written on the blade or the hilt of the sword written in gold or silver with this art.
