"Mash has an extreme flat affect, his tone of voice barely changes no matter what happens and his facial expression never changes. That's not to say he doesn't feel emotions, he's just hard to read, but he does very much feel emotions. When he breaks a door because he doesn't know whether it's push or pull, he feels bad about it and offers to fix it. When he messes up, he plays cool until he realizes the consequences, and then panics. When he needs to fight someone, it's go time, and when he's fighting for a friend, he gets mad. He's dumb, but has a good heart, and his core motivation is to live in peace and happiness with his adoptive grandpa. Mash is a himbo: dumb, kind, and buff.

Mash has two Special Interests, and he's equally obsessed and knowledgeable about both: working out and cream puffs. He's so obsessed with working out that he sticks to a strict schedule of specific exercises throughout the day, even exercising in the middle of a conversation. He also drinks regular protein shakes and gave his individual muscles names, and he talks to his muscles and pretends they talk back to give himself a pep talk when he's feeling down.

As for cream puffs, they are his all-time favorite food and he is excellent at baking them (though terrible at making anything else). He always carries a cream puff around in his pocket (unsanitary!), and is constantly eating them, even in tense scenes. His cream puff being damaged is one of the few ways he'll express shock on his otherwise deadpan face. He loves cream puffs so much that taking one from him triggers an unconscious nerve reaction to take it back.

Listening to 'Vampire Empire' and having A thoughts aaaaaaaaaaa

I wanted to show you my #1 A that I think about!! I’m sending this to you in an ask instead of making a post and tagging you because I worry about bothering my other mutuals even though logically I don’t think they care. Her name is Akilina Yunevich and the thing I’ve centered her character around is the premise that she came from a deeply catholic family (before arriving at Whammy’s /obv). She rejects God and also will often act in ways the purposefully the defy many of the things she was taught concerning religion. This kinda leads to her lashing out (not necessarily in a direct way if that makes sense) against any authority figures like Roger. At the same time, she has a sense of imposter syndrome about being L’s primary successor, especially since she’s the only girl.

Her and Beyond just do a lot of normal teenager shit together which helps them both feel more like themselves and less like they’re just successors. They go on fun little dates (that occasionally culminate in Roger suffering) and just generally give each other a safe space. Also there was a brief period in time where both Akilina and L were in Whammy’s together and L kinda had puppy love for her? He doesn’t really think about it anymore, especially given the circumstances.

Another big plot point ig for her was that after she died, she was revived in the Shinigami realm because they needed her brain. I’m not going to do a breakdown of it right now, but if you really read over the rules and think about the way Shinigami society is set up, it’s pretty oppressive?? My thought is that there are certain Shinigami who aren’t entirely apathetic and want to return to the times when their realm thrived (I made a post like 2 years ago I think about how it’s suggested that the Shinigami realm was once much better before it decayed), so they need Akilina’s help to overthrow the Shinigami king. That’s as much as I have right now, but I might think of more if I reread the Wikipedia.

What do Avery and Beyond do as adults?

Hi this took me forever to answer because it's sort of weird to answer?? Like, I'm not actually fully 100% sure what you mean or how to answer but I'm doing my best because i love these questions???

They spend a lot of their time traveling. Mostly because Avery needs sunlight to thrive and the minute it goes into winter seasonal depression kicks in. Usually, they go to nice, sunny places. They went to LA together a few times, spent most of their time generally unsettling the residents with their weird behavior. It was a good time for them (not for the people who lived there permentantly tho lol)

Avery likes music, she can play 3 different instruments semi decently. So, sometimes they will play sort of mediocre covers of the anime openings that Beyond likes. Beyond gets super into both sewing and decorating things. This does lead to A making jokes about him being her househusband. It's okay though, he doesn't mind

Sometimes they do casework together, because old habits do in fact die hard, but usually it's just whenever they see something interesting that L probably hasn't noticed yet because he's busy with something else and they want to beat him to it (they have succeeded at this maybe 3 times but it's okay they're doing their best)

A goes to therapy!! Sort of!! They kind of have to lie a bit to their therapist because of the whole "hide your identity" thing, but they do get help for their copious amounts of mental illness. Beyond also eventually ends up doing therapy, still with some lying but hey, at least he's trying

Avery writes Beyond songs without lyrics on her piano. Beyond helps Avery clean their depression nest whenever winter rolls around or they've just been having a hard time. Avery finds Beyond nice trinket stores no matter what country they're staying in so he can add shiny things to his ever-growing collection. Beyond paints Avery's nails every week and helps them dye their hair. They both get overestimated from walking barefoot on the beach in LA. They draw on each other's skin with his makeup when they get bored. They get up ridiculously early to watch Akazukin Chacha reruns on the international cable. They fill their time with other things.
