(1) Sherlock is a powerful empath and can read the history of anyone he touches. All of his clothes must be tailor-made so that they've never been worn before, he never touches anyone if he can help it, and he only borrows objects belonging to other people when he can't deduce the answers he needs with his other senses. John discovers his talents by accident when they brush past each other in the kitchen on day, but instead of running, he goes out of his way to protect Sherlock and his abilities
(2) After a particularly grueling case where Sherlock has to hold the diary of the deceased, they head home. John gently guides Sherlock to the shower to wash off the feeling from the crime scene, then wraps him in soft blankets made by Mrs. Hudson and they settle in front of the fire. Sherlock can’t quite rid himself of the feelings from the case, so he slowly reaches one hand out and touches John’s wrist. He feels safety and warmth and…love. Maybe, just maybe, a relationship could work.
