*this is not the finished product
Omari Sr. pops over as he usually does, using his key to let himself into Stacey’s apartment. He finds Stacey upstairs, sitting at her kitchen table.
“Hey sweetie.” He casually greets his daughter. Her face lights up unexpectedly.
“I’ve got something to show you!” She says excitedly, her dad is just the person she wanted to see. Omari chuckles a bit, puzzled by what this could be. Nothing could surprise him more than Atlas moving in after only a few months of knowing one another. He kept his opinions to himself on that matter, letting his daughter make her own decisions. She’s an adult after all. “Close your eyes.” She says. Omari doesn’t though.
“Just tell me.” At his last word, Stacey pulls out a sonogram. The grainy image shows… “a baby?” Stacey’s smile makes it clear that she’s over the moon about this but Omari is skeptical. He thinks she and Atlas are moving a bit too fast. “Wow! A new grandbaby!” Omari pretends. He pulls Stacey into a tight hug. “Wow.” He says again, contemplative.
They sit at the table in silence for a beat. “Are you two talking marriage?”
“Dadddd…” Stacey whines. “We’ve talked about marriage to ensure that’s what each of us wants eventually but we’re not in a rush to get there. That’s not everyone’s end goal.”
“What’s yours, then?” He asks. Stacey feels her dad’s seriousness. She sits with this a moment, she’s never really given it much thought. Omari continues, “I hope it’s not to have a bunch of kids with different men. I want better for you. I don’t want your life bogged down with a bunch of trash men.”
“Atlas isn’t trash. Raphael is… he’s decent.”
“And how long did it take for him to become decent?” Omari uses air quotes around the word decent. “This isn’t an attack. I just want you to understand what you’re getting yourself into. You know I love you Stace.”
