Teen Wolf

(this is another one i know of but don't know a whole lot about but! wolves! and verna is a shapeshifter after all, so this is going to be fun!)

i don't know any character specifically, but from looking at the general wiki at the info on werewolves, verna and the main cast would be absolutely bewildered by each other.

because verna is a shapeshifter, not a werewolf. she's not bound by the cycles of the moon, her eyes don't glow red like other alphas' eyes, she can't turn others by biting or scratching them, she doesn't have the same weaknesses as the werewolves, she's fully immortal, and she has more than one form. alphas and betas for her are an indicator of rank as opposed to an indication of strength and power, and omegas aren't a thing in her universe.

(in verna's universe, only alphas can turn humans into shifters, but it's a very ritualistic thing)

so right off the bat it would be an extremely weird time. the only thing that might remotely make everyone feel better is the fact that verna has a full wolf form, which isn't unheard of in the teen wolf universe. but she would definitely be weirded out by the sort of half-human form the vast majority of the werewolves have going on. to her, that's not really a wolf that's just...what even is that?

and verna would actively fight anyone who called her a werewolf, because she is not a werewolf and she finds it insulting. but when she's going around baring her teeth at anyone who looks at her funny, she can't really be surprised when someone assumes that's what she is.

also i'm not sure how much of an effect the alpha roar would have on her, but if it does affect her, i don't think she'd be very happy about it lol. she very much doesn't like people having any kind of control over her.

Scholomance (A Deadly Education)

definitely had to research this one (and put it on my tbr. this sounds so freaking cool????)

so i have two thoughts about this:

1- that this would make a really cool au for verna's canon universe, where instead of packs each of the alphas run an enclave (the packs already refer to themselves and each other by their location names, "London," "DC," "Paris" (and sometimes just by their country names), so that would work out really well). i think verna would have one hell of a body count on graduation day, she's full of rage and damn it, she's going to Use It. and she'd be a lot like el, where she wants to keep her classmates safe, and isn't willing to let anything happen to any of them. absolute mama bear. or wolf. mama wolf. anyway.

2 - book canon-wise, this was a little harder for me to figure out, bc of the nature of the setting, the way the kids are whisked away to this school for like four years, but i think if verna were to interact with the main cast, it'd be something like: she runs her own enclave (probably DC), or maybe she'd be part of the new york one? (also i'd have to really read the books for more specifics), but i feel like she def be rooting for el, and also she'd still have a body count. she's probably known for ripping mals to shreds with her teeth and not being afraid of anything, really, even if she should be. also probably makes puns about maw-mouths. (should she? maybe not. does she anyway? yes.)
