Basically in the late 2000s/early 2010s 4chan went on its psyop shit and made MAP a thing as a sort of trollish entryism method to the LGBTQ+ community. It was summarily lashed out against by the community, but pedophiles saw it as a way to try and wedge their way into being considered an unjustly marginalized demographic and adopted the rhetoric unironically. You can actually find the threads where this happened on 4chan archives.
