It's absolutely beautiful how there were three very significant moments in Inuyasha's life where he was at his lowest and we could feel the sun like a presence on each of those times because Kagome was there. Starting with when they first met.
After years facing prejudice and leading a lonely existence, Inuyasha let his guard down with someone just long enough to see â what he thought was â them turning against him and sealing him away.
He was dead to the world, frozen in time and his heart was the coldest it has ever been. That's where the sun comes in, because every sunrise means a new awakening and a new chance to begin again.
Its warmth melts away the worse of winter and allows spring to finally come. Without sunlight, there's no light to guide you. There's no life at all. Kagome woke him up and brought him back to life in every possible way.
And even though Inuyasha literally never saw it coming â still oblivious to her arrival â it's clear from the get go the role she's bond to play in his life: his own personal sun, lighting up the darkness of his days.
The second time it happens, Inuyasha was consumed by grief, guilt and the heartbreaking realization that he'd have to let Kagome go, despite it being the last thing he wanted to do.
After he can no longer postpone saying goodbye, Inuyasha walks to the well, feeling miserable under the shadows of the trees, only to find Kagome already there, waiting for him and bathed in sunshine.
I love how he gets blinded by the light because that's what happens when we spend too much time in the darkness: it takes time to get used to something burning that bright. Until Kagome, he was not used to people staying or loving him unconditionally â with the obvious exception being Izayoi.
He then steps into the daylight to get to her and after they work things out, Kagome takes him by the hand and guides him forward. Inuyasha squeezes her hand back and catchs up so they're walking side by side. They're both under the light now and they're moving on.
There were many instances in the series where Kagome's voice or the mere thought of her was enough to snap him out of dark spells and certain death, leading him back to the light, to life.
At last, after three years of darkness, there's the moment when Kagome finally comes back to him, because the sun will always rise again.
In a way, this is what those three scenes are all about: Kagome returning to him again and again. Only the first time it was as the piece of his soul he didn't know was missing, finally finding the way back home.
One of the openings â or was it a closing? â even nodded to the notion of Kagome being his sun: she dissapears and takes all of the light with her, leaving Inuyasha in the dark, alone and lost.
And thinking about Kagome in this context is even more meaningful when we take into account that Inuyasha's literal darkest nights â the moonless ones â are his human nights, because when the morning comes, when the sun comes, he is free to be himself again and regains his lost strength, much like he does in battle when he thinks of her.

Inukag tropes you're gonna have to pry from my cold dead hands:
⢠KAGOME OFFERING TO TAKE THE BEADS OFF, immediately followed by:
⢠INUYASHA REFUSING TO LET KAGOME TAKE THE BEADS OFF
⢠Kagome bringing Inuyasha back to himself after he accidentaly went full demon (every damn time)
⢠Other characters mistaking them for a married couple even though NO, WE ARENâT (yet)
⢠Inuyasha wanting to âprovideâ for her in any way, shape or form.
⢠Kagome getting hurt and Inuyasha absolutely losing it.
⢠Inuyasha getting hurt and Kagome absolutely losing it.
⢠Fighting together as Kagome rides his back like they are the worldâs greatest Megazord. BONUS POINTS FOR COMBINED ATTACKS.
⢠Kagome wearing his Fire Rat Robe OF DAMN COURSE.
⢠The whole âInuyasha giving in and having sex with Kagome for the first time only to wake up in the morning feeling guilty as hell because now she would be the talk of the town and he is to blame + Kagome not giving a single fuck and reassuring him that she loves him and regrets nothingâ combo.
⢠Kagome constantly jumping off / throwing herself from great heights blindly trusting Inuyasha is gonna catch her.
⢠Inuyasha always catching her.
Feel free to add more.

Gotta love how Kagome recruited a kitsune, a man with a black hole in the palm of his hand and an actual demon slayer to their mission on top of having the wolf prince at her constant beck and call like she was catching feudal pokĂŠmon.

I love unflinchingly good characters. Characters so resolute and unbending in their convictions. Who put the weight of the world on their shoulders and refuse to let it slip. Who wake up every morning and choose to be good, to do good. I love it when their morals get tested but refuse to compromise. I love characters who try to be good and keep trying no matter how many times they stumble. Who see their failings and grow from them. Who make mistakes and learn. I love characters who see the error of their ways and devote their life to fixing them. Who seek atonement knowing it may never come.
I love characters who choose kindness.

Kagome: Inuyasha kissed me.
Sango: no! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!
Kagome: Itâs unbelievable!
Sango: oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Ok, alright, I wanna hear everything. Get the wine and unplug the phone. Does this end well or do we need tissues?
Kagome: oooh, it ended very well.
Sango: alright, letâs hear about the kiss. Was it like⌠was it like, a soft brush against your lips or was it like a, y'know, âI gotta have you nowâ kinda thing?
Kagome: well, at first it was really intense, y'know, and then⌠oh God, and then we just sorta sunk into itâŚ
Sango: oooh, so, ok, was he like holding you or were his hands like, on your back?
Kagome: no, actually first they were⌠they started out on my waist⌠and then they slid up, and then they were in my hairâŚ
___________________________________________________________
Inuyasha: and then I⌠and then I kissed her.
Miroku: tongue?
Inuyasha: yeah.
Miroku: cool.

A little headcanon that Iâve always had for InuYasha is that Kagome brings disposable cameras with her to the Feudal Era. Some are filled with photos of nature and random villagers she meets along her journey. But most are of her friends. A shaky group photo taken by Kaede, a candid shot of Sango playing with Kirara, Miroku getting slapped by yet another lady, InuYasha and Shippo arguing, and calm moments while theyâre resting. Thereâs a photo of Rin wearing a flower crown (Sesshomaru is in the background wearing a matching one because he would do anything for his daughter). Another photo shows Koga posing heroically. Thereâs even a photo of Kagura watching flower petals dance in the wind.
And when the well closes up, Kagome gets all the photos developed. She explains her friends away as cosplayers when the worker at the photoshop asks. She puts them all in a big album, all in chronological order. Kagome looks at them every day until she goes back and can see her friends in the flesh once more.

Inukag Week Day #2 : Care
Inuyasha and Kagome are always ready to sacrifice everything to protect each other in battle. And when one of them gets hurt, they find comfort and reassurance by being together. They truly value each otherâs well-being and I think thatâs one of the most beautiful aspect of their relationship.Â

Inuyasha: â You and i may be nothing alike, but we are both half demons. That means in both of us there is a human heart and a demon heart, Naraku.
But you have betrayed that!!
We were both given the freedom to choose. To follow our human heart, or our demon heart and you chose to live as a demon ignoring all that was human in you. You chose to hurt others, and curse them with misery and suffering.â âŁ

Height differences and the grumpy/sunshine dynamic are literally two of my favourite ship tropes, so everytime I see Inukag I just go đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°!!! Do you have some favourite ship tropes?
Your taste is immaculate, anon. I'm a sucker for height differences and grumpy versus sunshine dynamic. I'd also add the sun and moon, yin and yang, water and fire aspect to it. Just opposites attract in general. Other tropes I enjoy:
ENEMIES TO FRIENDS TO LOVERS: Iâm not very fond of âlove at first sightâ trope because I hate the concept that love can come that easily. Iâd rather think of love as something that is build, little by little, even if unintentionally, providing a solid foundation for a more believable, strong and substancial relationship.
Love being handed on a silver plate just doesnât do it for me. I need the characters to work for it. I like to feel a part of their journey as their relationship slowly shifts and grows. It is precisely because of the hardships they face that the endgame becomes so satisfying.
And thereâs something fundamentally heartwarming and reassuring about showing each other their ugly side first and then gradually warming up to one another and discovering similarities, common ground and a new, different beautiful aspects on them that they refused to see before. The idea of the very things they despised in one another becoming the very reason they fell in love speaks to me in a spiritual level because it leaves no room for idealization.
Plus, the rivalry, the teasing, the irony and the complications of it all makes the dynamic way more compelling and the story way more complex, because there is a history there. A lot to unpack and explore and forgive and work with, even if they didnât stand on opposite sides for long.
BATTLE COUPLE: two people taking on the world together, having each otherâs backs, working in perfect sync, literally trusting each other with their lives, fighting side be side as a well oiled war machine? Impeccable. Give me more.
RIDE OR DIE:Â when two characters are willing to go to extreme lengths for one another, thatâs my jam. Itâs about the devotion, the unconditional love. Itâs about knowing you are not alone. That if something happens to you, someone would gladly set the world on fire to get you back.
EVERYONE CAN SEE IT:Â I live for the validation of hearing other characters voicing in the show what Iâve been screaming to the television this whole time. When the pairing got so bad for each other that itâs painfully obvious even to complete outsiders. Bonus points if itâs followed by veement denial or the classic âweâre just friends.â Extra bonus points if they wonât admit it, but wonât correct people either.
INTERSPECIES/INTERCULTURAL/INTERRACIAL COUPLE:Â respecting each otherâs heritage, unconditional, pure acceptance, learning with and from each other, not only overcoming but also celebrating their differences... itâs such a rich exchange.
OLD MARRIED COUPLE: their chemistry is so strong, the characters fall into the roles of husband and wife with astonishing naturality even if they couldnât be far from it. They fight, they communicate, they get to a solution together. Some days are hard, some days are harder, but they canât quit each other. And most importantly: the intimacy, the trust, the honesty, the commitiment are already there, no ceremony needed.
CHARACTERISTIC/CONTRASTING/COMPLIMENTARY COLOR SCHEEMES: this is more about the visual aesthetic than anything, but I love pairings that look goddamn great together.
UNRESOLVED SEXUAL TENSION: this one speaks for itself.
WILL THEY, WONâT THEY? I'm crazy about almost kisses and interrupted moments and confessions of undying love that never had the chance to happen. Iâm crazy about the mutual pining, the right person at the wrong time, the yearning, the frustration, the uncertainty, the ânot like thisâ and the âwhat ifs.â
STAR CROSSED LOVERS: everything conspires to keep them apart, but they refuse to let destiny or the universe or anyone tell them they canât be together. Theyâd rather rewrite the stars instead.
LOVE TRANSCENDS: when love conquers it all, when all the obstacles and missunderstandings and sacrifice pay off. When after everything, against all odds, true love manages to prevail. I love this song.
SOULMATES: destined to meet, yes, but the rest of their story is dictated by their love rather than by fate. And they are soulmates not because their encounter was inevitable, but because they complement and understand each other like no one else. They know one another in the deepest level, the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the flaws, the virtues, the nightmares, the dreams, the insecurities, the strength. And no one in the world can even begin to measure up to this connection.
