Why can't X Sim wear dreads?
You may have come across someone saying, “Stop putting dreads on white sims.” and thought, “Why not.” Well, here’s why. It’s offensive, racist, and a form of cultural appropriation. That’s the short version. For an extremely long time, Black people have been belittled for their natural hair texture, going as far as to be forced to “clean it up” to achieve job interviews or to even join the army.  (Though the army is now allowing Dreadlocks after the backlash they received.)
An argument can be made about Viking wearing dreads, but in actuality those aren’t dreads. Dreads are created from the natural locking of 4A-4C hair types. Thinner hair, 1-2C types, don’t lock correctly, and instead mat. Vikings hair was covered in dirt and weren’t as clean as one would think. Matted hair has the visual similarities to Dreadlocks, but is actually the effect of forcing thin hair to lock up and get extremely tangled.
Ethically, putting dreads on non-black sims is insensitive. It shows black people that not only do you not care what they have gone through to be able to embrace their natural hair, but also that you ignorant to what other people have to go through. When you really get down to it, it’s just hair. However it means something completely different to people that actually marginalized and discriminated against.

why do people cut themselves ? it is so gross and selfish
it’s relief. so many emotions build up over time so much that you start to suffocate within yourself. when you pick up a blade the only thought you have is to relieve the pressure. when it slides against your skin all of your emotions and feelings spill away like the blood from your wound. in that moment you don’t remember what drove you to that point. you don’t remember who insulted you, or beat you up, or screwed with your feelings. but the part that really gets you is when it goes away. the blood stops spilling, the swelling has gone down, the burning sensation has stopped, and the cuts have closed. and yet everytime all of the feelings you had before the first cut always have a way of sneaking back in. now you’re back to where you started. but with each time cutting slightly deeper so those feelings don’t come back as fast. sometimes you don’t even realize you’re doing it until it happens. you may call it disgusting, selfish, or whatever you want but unless you’ve gone through this you may never get a full understanding. being ignorant doesn’t help with that either. it takes a lot to get to this point. to where dragging a razor across your own skin gives you comfort even for a little bit. take a look at yourself because comments like that are just might be what drive people to this point. • • • With that being said, if you self harm and you see this post please feel free to talk to me or call these numbers: Cutting and/or Self Injury: 1 (800)-366-8288Suicide Prevention: 1 (800)-273-8255

“Her fantasy novel Children of Blood and Bone, the first of a trilogy about a young girl’s battle with a prince over bringing magic back to West Africa,  is going to be released some time next year. But it’s already got a seven-figure publishing deal with Macmillan, and a massive deal with Fox Studios too, with the latter acquiring the movie rights pretty early on in the day for a book that hasn’t even been published yet.”
