Gene Okerlund’s Mean Gene’s Burgers [Established Late 1990’s]
Sal (@palsetersen) sent me some photos over on Twitter from a quick stop he made at Mean Gene’s Burgers years ago in northern California. Gene Okerlund had several of these across the country, apparently mostly near college campuses, but all of them were seemingly shut down around 2007.
When I asked Sal about the quality of his burger, he responded with:
“[I] remember it being nothing special.”
“I seemed to be the only one who was completely juiced to be there. I hoped to see some wrestling memorabilia or something, but sadly it was just your average fast food burger place inside.”
Regardless of how standard the food was, Mean Gene’s Burgers did have this pretty nifty commercial that’s amazingly online with great quality:
“The Burger That Says BITE ME”
Seriously — who’s gonna be the guy that submits this Mean Gene’s Burger shirt design to the guys over at Barber Shop Window?
