In the same way that Catherine is currently Catherine, Princess of Wales and before that was Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and before becoming Queen, Camilla was Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan’s correct title is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
She can also be referred to as the Duchess of Sussex, in the same way that you might have said the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall or the Princess of Wales, both are correct ways of referring to these titles.
Hello, can you share some of the jewelries that were wedding gifts for Queen Mary?
Tumblr media
Princess May, Duchess of York, the future Queen Mary received a lot of jewellery as wedding gifts, perfect for the original magpie Queen! Some of the jewellery has been dismantled and changed into other pieces, or no longer exists, but some of it is recognisable and still being worn.
Tumblr media
From her parents, she received a diamond and turquoise tiara. The tiara was reworked over the years before being gifted to Mary’s daughter-in-law the Duchess of Gloucester. Princess Alice wore this tiara frequently before it was passed to the current Duchess of Gloucester.
Tumblr media
Gifted from the County of Lincoln was a brooch, made up of 10 diamonds in a cluster. Mary had a tiara made to accommodate the brooch (because what else would you do with a diamond brooch?) The tiara wasn’t worn for decades until Meghan, Duchess of Sussex wore it on her wedding day.
Tumblr media
The Princess also received a diamond and cabochon emerald brooch in a Celtic knot style from Tsarevitch Nicholas, future Tsar Nicholas II. This brooch has been passed to other Queens with Queen Elizabeth II wearing the brooch and more recently Queen Camilla on a visit to Northern Ireland in 2023.
If you want to discover more of the jewellery gifted to the future Queen Mary, a full list can be found here with links at the bottom of the page for individual jewels https://www.royal-magazin.de/england/queen-mary.htm

I can’t believe I’ve had this blog for 10 years. It’s about 10 and a half/11 years since I joined the royal fandom but 10 years officially today!!

Jewel of the Year
2007
The then Duchess of Cornwall attended royal Ascot.
Tumblr media
This is the only appearance of this brooch. The provenance isn’t known, but Court Jeweller speculated that it may have belonged to the Queen Mother as around this time, she was wearing a lot of items Charles had inherited from her. Alternatively, Charles has been known to buy jewels at auction so it may have been purchased for her
Court Jeweller also speculated that it was likely a stomacher

Royal Tiara Challenge 2024
Day Twenty-Nine - Favourite convertible tiara.
I love this necklace tiara, sometimes I find that necklace tiaras can be a bit overwhelming as a necklace or a bit small as a tiara but this is so perfect! Plus that I adore that Mary bought it for herself!

Day Twenty-Eight - Favourite non-royal tiara
Elizabeth Taylor’s diamond tiara is beautiful. It is a stunning tiara and looks perfect on her.

Day Twenty-Seven - Favourite tiara no longer in a royal family
It is so disappointing that this tiara made its way out of the main royal family line and then into a museum because this is a piece that should be worn! It is so beautiful, it’s a shame it isn’t worn anymore.

Royal Tiara Challenge 2024
Day Twenty-Six - Least favourite tiara
There were a few tiaras I considered for this but I hate this tiara. There are a few different central stones for this tiara and I couldn’t decide which one I disliked the most so I’m including all of them. For me, it has zero redeeming features and should be melted down.

Day Twenty-Five - Favourite wedding look
I have always loved this look! The Swedish Modern Fringe tiara has a gap in its base which gives it the illusion that it’s floating above the wearer’s head. The idea to put little orange blossom flowers in that gap was perfect!

Day Twenty-Four - Tiara you’d most like to see Infanta Sofia wear
I’d love to see this tiara passed from one Sofia to another. The rubies are a gorgeous colour so I’d love to see her wear this.

The Rules
You can pick a decade/year, month, person or just the year and all the rest chosen by ourselves.
A jewel worn in that decade will have a post created

Day Twenty-Three - Tiara you’d most like to see Princess Josephine wear
I would love for Princess Josephine to wear this and potentially inherit it from her mother. I think it would really suit her.

anyways big fuck you to everyone who found appropriate to harass a family while they were dealing with the news that their young mother and wife was dealing with a serious disease and everyone who thought it was oh so hilarious to make jokes about a woman trying to process a cancer diagnosis and coming up with ridiculous theories about her being abused, in a coma, having a cheating husband, children who are a result of adultery and even that she was in a relationship with a member of the family who died of suicide recently.
Y’all are horrible people.

Day Twenty-Two - Tiara you’d most like to see Princess Catharina-Amalia wear
Catharina-Amalia has already worn a fair few of the Dutch tiaras but I’d love to see her in this one. Preferably with the emeralds rather than the pearl setting.

Day Twenty-One - Tiara you’d most like to see Princess Charlotte wear
Now that it’s been confirmed that this tiara does exist and can be worn, I’d love to see Princess Charlotte in it one day. It’s such a pretty tiara, I’d love to see it become her go-to tiara.
