Final outcome ideas
One of the ideas that I have had is to do character design for this I would draw and create characters inspired by the dystopian worlds that I have researched I would look at experimenting digitally for this where I can as well to make this I would draw the characters and then write next to them what their attributes are I would be able to make this fit my theme by taking inspiration from games and making the characters darker and more fitting of a dystopian theme as well as including technology in their designs as thatā€™s one of the focuses of my theme
Another thing I could potentially do for my final project is dystopian landscape for this I would like to try and make it digitally on photoshop using pixel art because when I was researching cyberpunk artists I found work similar to this where the artist had made pixel art and animated it and it gave me the idea to try and make work similar however I donā€™t think that I would animate it but it is and idea that I would like to explore as I enjoyed the pixel art we did earlier in the year. I would link this to the theme by making it more dystopian as well as potentially having the work include cables and wires to link it to the ā€˜rootsā€™ theme
Another thing I could do is make optical illusion work with the dystopian theme that I have chosen in mind I would make these digitally and try to link them to the theme by editing them and giving theme a more digital and futuristic feeling as I have done optical illusion work before I would look back at what Iā€™ve already done for inspiration and see what I want to differently to make it work for this theme.

Artist research
Konstantin Maystrenko is a Russian illustrator/concept artist who is currently working as a concept artist for riot games- I am inspired by their work because they have a lot of character designs that include robotic body parts or mechanical suits which links to the idea of a character concept board that I had for my fmp as well as linking to the idea of a dystopian future.

Eduardo PeƱa
Eduardo PeƱa is a professional concept artist currently based in Singapore. He has worked in the entertainment industry for over a decade for production companies such as Weta Workshop, Lionsgate, and Europa Corp among others. some of the movies he worked on: Trilogy of the hobbit,, lucy,, Ready Player One and many more.
He is currently working as an Art Director at Lucasfilm where he designs and develops visual concepts and aesthetics solutions for movies and shows. Beside working in the entertainment industry, Eduardo also participated in collaborative projects in Urban Development, Design Sustainability and Education. I am inspired by his work as it gives me a very cyberpunk feel PeƱa has some landscapes and some character design which gives me a lot to look at of their work and try and take parts of it and include it into my own. http://conceptartworld.com/artists/eduardo-pena/
Pablo Palomeque
Pablo Palomeque is a concept artist and matte printer based in Buenos Aires Argentina and is currently working in the video games and film industry. I like this artists work that features futuristic looking cities as it gives me ideas of what I could include in my work if I was to do landscapes and work like that the work that they have done for ā€˜aliens colonial marinesā€™ also reminds me of something you would see in a dystopia which helps me link it to my work as it features areas that have been destroyed which gives me ideas of what to include in my work.

Real Lyra
Radon Lyra is a freelance concept artist and character designer from Brazil who has created work for marvel comics and Star Wars galaxies as well as dungeon runners and playore game works
I feel as though I could use Lyras work as inspiration if I was to to character design for my final piece as it includes mechanical suits and body parts giving it a dystopian feel.

Another artist I looked at is ā€˜kirokazeā€™ on tumblr who is a digital and pixel artist who does cyberpunk pixel art and animation which links to my topic as it fits with a digital dystopian future. This artist inspires me as they gave me the idea to potentially do pixel art in this topic as well as exploring different ideas in their work for example some of their work is more futuristic with bright colours and neon lights where some of their work shows things such as large robots in areas with nothing around.
https://kirokazepixel.tumblr.com/
Valenberg is a pixel artist who has a variety of work and they have inspired me through this as they donā€™t have just one thing they have done as they have character design done in pixel art, poster designs for things such as movies as well as making things that are made to look futuristic and more ā€˜cyberpunkā€™ this inspires me as it makes me realise the potential there is for whatever it is that I decide to do by including quite a few of the ideas that I have had to make for my project into one by doing character design and poster design which makes me realise that even when I have chosen what it is I want to do I can still use that to make things that I had other ideas for to show my journey and a range of work.

Fallout series- the fallout series is a series of games set in the 22nd century and features a post apocalyptic dystopian future where not many people survived and those that did went into underground vaults that were originally meant for social experiments. Whilst it is not my favourite I do find this idea of a dystopian future both interesting and scary at the same time because it is something that is possible. Dying light is another example of a post apocalyptic dystopia which explores the idea of a world that has been taken over by zombies due to a virus epidemic. Where you have to survive by scavenging for resources and fight off infected to survive. A game that explores a totalitarian technological dystopian future is watchdogs legion, in watchdogs legion London has been taken over by a security force called Albion who everyone was made to believe was there to help and make London safer which by statistics they do however their methods and approach to things make people realise the reduced crime rates arenā€™t worth losing your privacy for as they have no information that isnā€™t accessible and are being watched at all times like in ā€˜1984ā€™.
All of these games give me different ideas and inspiration for what I can do with my project as they are all different takes on what a dystopian future could be of look like the main inspiration I get from these games is that I can take it in whatever direction I want because there is no right or wrong as the events of the future havenā€™t happened yet and no one can be sure of what will happen.

Utopia is an imagined place or state in which everything is perfect whereas dystopia is an imagined state or society in which there is a great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post apocalyptic.
Things that could potentially cause a dystopian future include technological control where people are all controlled by technology which Is an idea that I have looked at in my work, government control which links to the idea of totalitarianism which involves a government system that is like a dictatorship which requires complete subservience to the state an example of this would be in the Star Wars film series with the empire. Another example of a dystopian future is that of a nuclear disaster Where the world falls into nuclear warfare leaving only a few survivors left to fend for themselves an example of this idea would be the fallout series. A book that fits the type of dystopia that I have looked at so far is 1984 by George Orwell as it features a totalitarian state where they are always watching to make sure you are doing what they want you to do. A virus survival dystopian future normally involves a virus that has either killed or turned most of the worlds or an areas population into zombies where you have to gather resources and survive as seen in games like dying light

What have you created in todays session?
I created an optical illusion on cardboard where there's a face hidden in and shown by the landscape of an alien invasion.
We used metamorphism
My work was inspired by Eric Montoya and Octavio Ocampo.
This activity helped develop my ideas for the project as it showed me a way that other artists have used nature to inspire their art it also gave me more experience using acrylic paint which isn't something I use often which has helped me to feel more confident about using it in the future.
If I were to do this again I would choose a different idea and more importantly try to have more confidence in my work as I feel I spent more time procrastinating and thinking about what I wanted to do then I did actually doing it.

Artist inspiration Octavio Ocampo
-Mexican surrealist painter
-Optical illusions
-Metamorphic art -'shapeshifting in art. It allows an artist to transform a shape representing one item into a similar shape representing something else this in turn allows one meaning to be hidden behind another.

Initial ideas for art 8/03/21
Sketch an idea of a face roughly and then use patterns and circles above it and make the illusion where you may not notice the face at first but it is there. Make parts where circles overlap be the points where you can see the face
I also had the idea to make a face using an alien invasion idea where a face is made up of things like trees, ufos and other parts of the landscape i had the idea to develop these ideas further digitally maybe using my ipad to make them more to what I want them to be
