quiet acts of love that make me cry 🫂
prompt list by @novelbear
always giving the other the first bite of their food
^ or the last bite
gently resting their head on their shoulder when taking a picture/peeking at something
kisses. on. the. tip. of. the. nose.
zipping or buttoning their jacket for them
when they follow the sidewalk rule :(
^ like imagine realizing it as they gently take the other's wrist and guide them to the other side...omg
waiting until they safely reach the front of the door or get inside before driving off
"did you eat today?"
softly dusting crumbs from their cheeks when eating
^ or even better: kissing it off
"wear a jacket, it's cold out."
watching a movie or show that they know they're interested in.
^ not because they asked them to, but to be able to engage in more conversation related to it when they adorably ramble on and on.
doing their makeup for them
"i brought you flowers." "for what?" "there has to be a reason?"
keeping a few of their favorite snacks in the house for when they visit.
opening the door for them or pulling their seat out before they sit down
lifting the shorter one up so they can be seen in photos
absentmindedly playing with their hair at all times
fixing their clothes a little for them when noticing something is off

12 Tricks to Help You Write Your Novel/Project
(coming from an avid writing studier who has scarcely ventured past the plotting phase)
Be Realistic don't set out to write 100k words in a week and finish everything right now and never have to touch a keyboard or pen again.
Choose an idea that you like don't think about anyone else. Don't think about what's marketable or what's well liked. If you're writing for an audience you won't enjoy it long enough to finish what you started.
Don't focus on making anything perfect especially when you're in the idea and even the outlining stage.
Make a playlist for anything. Songs that remind you of a certain location, songs that remind you of a certain scene, songs that remind you of a character.
Consume media that inspires you to write and take notes so you can learn from other writers.
Make an outline if that's your jam. Some people like making more detailed and structured outlines (5 act story structure) others like to write a simple outline and others don't make outlines at all. I am a plotter myself so I always recommend a good outline.
Think about the most satisfying ending in advance
Fall in love with your characters, spend time with them and make sure you know the most important things about them (what they want, need, struggle with)
Build Empathy for your main character by giving them a relatable situation or trait. If you don't do this, no one is going to care about your characters. So when you put them in danger or have something heartbreaking happen, the readers won't feel the punch unless they care about your characters.
Establish Tone and promise the kind of story that you're going to tell. If you're going to tell a dark mystery, start off dark and mysterious. Maybe don't start off light hearted and all knowing unless that feels right for your story.
Be kind to yourself
Celebrate what you've written

Being inclusive with your reader insert fic is a kindness. It tells people of color (poc) that you are considering someone who does not look like you in your fic. It shows love and dedication to our craft. It tells poc that they belong here too and they can see themselves in your story.
Poc aren’t look for activism in fic, we know fandom isn’t that serious, but we should be able to have that same level of escapism when we turn to fic and fandom. We belong here too. This space is for everyone, not just one group of people.
Just to give a few examples of how simple it can be: say “skin warmed” instead of blushed, say “cradled your head” instead of running fingers through hair, say “angles yourself to kiss” instead of standing on tiptoes, use italics to indicate Spanish to take out a throwaway line of “you didn’t understand Spanish” things like that. Small changes that do not impact the fic at all but make a world of difference in inclusivity!
And for anything you can’t/don’t want to change, simply add warning in the beginning. Things like hair descriptors, anything reader might wear, some backstory for reader (especially involving family or where the story is set), readers job, things like that. A lot of times just having that heads up before the fic makes a world of difference!
And one example of kindness we as writers always worked to change: until recently (just a couple years ago) it wasn’t common to label the gender of the reader. But those who aren’t female asked writers to label it so they know which to read and which to avoid, and now it’s common to label the gender/pronouns of the reader. So it is possible! It just takes effort! And I’m a writer myself so I know it can be done!
We can pretend to be a bartender or a bounty hunter or an actress or anything else. But we shouldn’t have to imagine we’re a white one.

supporting palestine.
like many of you, i've been watching the crisis in gaza unfold from the safety and comfort of my home in the west. after spending the past several days educating myself on the events currently unfolding (and the extensive history that led up to this point), i've decided to put together a small post of things i (and you) can do to help support the people of palestine.
me putting together and posting this might not be much, but there are nearly 6,000 of you here, and i hope that by using my small platform, i'm doing my part to speak out against the israeli government's genocide of the palestinian people.
become informed on the conflict between palestine and israel, and acknowledge the israeli government's current attacks on gaza as what they are: acts of genocide. decolonize palestine is a great place to start. familiarize yourself with these important terms that pertain to the situation: genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, collective punishment.
contact your government about the crisis, and demand support for the palestinian people. if you live in the us, you can find and contact your senators here.
donate to organizations that directly help palestinians and the situation in gaza. here are a few to choose from: pcrf, unrwa, anera, islamic relief worldwide.
resist the urge to look away from the atrocities unfolding in gaza, and use your voice and privilege to speak for those who are being silenced.

To all my writers who have a tough time with smut terms and not knowing which ones to use, I have found the holy grail for us.
This reddit user took a poll of 3,500 people and went really in depth with asking their favorite terminology, along with actual pie charts on what the readers preferred to see in their smut.
Here's the direct link to the Google doc with all the info!

“why would you write fics for small, unpopular fandoms? you’re not gonna reach that many hits in fandoms not many people know about” ?? because I’m not writing fics for hits or kudos, I’m writing them for me because these characters are my blorbos and I have so many ideas, so much thoughts about them that my brain might explode if I don’t write them out.

a brief note:
i’m not usually very eloquent with my words, so if this is rough and i say something wrong or offensive, please forgive me, it’s been hard to piece together the right words. if there’s spelling errors, this is not proofread, and I’m sorry.
I’ve always maintained that writing and this blog is a safe space for me, a place to escape from the real world when I need it. but right now, what’s going on in the world isn’t something I can escape from. it’s robbed me of my sleep and my sanity. and honestly, writing and kpop just don’t even seem like valid enough escapes anymore, even though I feel immensely privileged to have these escapes in the first place. I feel numb. but it’s not even about me or this blog or any wips I have.
if you have five minutes to scroll through my blog, or any other kpop blog on Tumblr, I urge to take another five minutes out of your day and learn about what’s going on in Gaza right now. do your own research, and uplift voices that aren’t being heard.
the beauty of being here is being able to connect with so many people far away, across the country or even across the world. if we can use our energy to celebrate our groups and our faves, we can also do the reverse.
life as we know it is being uprooted for so many people, the least we can do is be cognizant of that, to give some of our energy to mourn their losses and grieve alongside them. even better yet, we can hope alongside them that this reality doesn’t have to endure, that more innocent lives will not be lost.
if you get nothing else from this, I’ll leave you with this — if you’ve also been like me, feeling completely scared and horrified by what’s been unfolding, i see you. i feel your pain, and if you’re grieving, i feel your loss. i ask you to remember those on the other side of this who have a right to be even more scared and even more horrified, and who deserve your attention. the world is a complex and hard to understand place, but at the same time, it’s not. it’s brutal and violent. Please remember, that far beyond and political or religious debates, foreign policy, etc, when oppressors and bullies square off, and when people are power hungry, innocent lives are always in the middle of it. and that should be something that none of us are willing to be okay with.
if you want to stop reading here, that’s totally okay, otherwise check the tags to listen to me ramble on

This also very much applies to fanfics. Some people need to take a step back and think before they make straight fools out of themselves.

The best writing advice I've followed
I like reading writing advice posts because sometimes it is helpful if I'm stuck on something specific or if I want to try a new genre.
The best ones are the ones that say "you should do x" or "Y HAS to do this"
Because the brat part of my brain goes "cool, cool. I'm going to do the EXACT opposite of that." And then I usually have a lot of fun!
"You should show, not tell" Guess what, I'm now writing a one shot that is all tell, a la Kafta.
"Your scene has to have a purpose/theme/whatever" First of all the purpose is I had fun writing it I don't care if it didn't develop the character or advance the plot.
Have fun with writing. Marie Kondo your craft-- if the advice doesn't lead to something that sparks joy, throw it out. Amend it. Whatever. Have fun with your writing. Save the boring and not fun bits for editing.
