What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?
An Alternate Universe where Ash accepts Cigilune's offer for a new body to fulfill his grandfather's contract with her (in exchange for the next kin of arcane talent she would protect the Haywood family and farm from harm.)
He was offered a homunculus form for his soul to inhabit, its appearance left up to him. Perhaps in the official story were he to accept he would have been mostly the same with a few… quirks, But what if he wasn't?
What if, true to the origin of homunculus, he became an indentured servant to the now more powerful Cigilune?

I can't answer an ask more than once, so to the Anon who dropped me the three OC meme asks...
24. What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?
In the official story, Ash arrived at the Grotto--an abandoned and repurposed cathedral to Lathander--at the tender age of four. Recently orphaned and desperate to forget how it all happened. He blocks out the memories and forces his arcane talents into the basement of his mind, and grows up a thief to survive.
But what if... instead of joining the other squatters in the Grotto in shrugging off the religious ranting of the lingering, elderly priest of Lathander (Remy), he listens? Listens, learns, and follows. Believing he arrived at this church for a reason; there's no other explanation for why he would walk out the ashes of his first life and into the temple of new beginnings. He's meant to be here, he's meant to serve.
And thus Ash combines what he learns at the altar for purpose with what he learns on the streets for survival. He believes everyone is deserving of a new beginning, and sometimes that beginning starts at the end of a blade.

A: Only a few people know Ash has a pretty decent singing voice, he's just shy about it. You'd really only ever hear it if he thinks he's alone (or very drunk).
