Caring for a SuperKid on their period!!
💥⚡️🏅
• Encourage them to drink lots of water (Electrolytes if necessary) 🍼
• Making cramp-friendly foods for them 🥪
• Rocking them to sleep, holding their heating pad for them 🌙
• Assuring them that a period doesn’t make them less of a kid 🫶🏻
• Cleaning up after them if they have leaks, promising you’re not upset at all
• Staying on top of the pain medication 💊
• Giving lots of snuggles and kisses, whenever possible 💕
Just a reminder that periods are NOT a gross thing and they are a normal, for anyone of any gender. You’re a valid boy, girl or kid if you have a period or if you don’t! What’s important is to take care of yourself properly 💕

Tummyache :(
As I turn around the corner, I can hear a quiet cry from underneath a blanket.
“Sweetheart?” I call out, heart racing as I panic from possibilities. I rush over to you, stopping quickly before resting a hand on your shoulder.
“Little One, Im going to touch you, is that okay? I promise to be gentle, and no one will hurt you again, yeah?” You nod and I gently place a hand onto your shoulder and pull you towards me.
“Is it your stomach again, My Darling?” I feel you nod softly against me.
“Okay, Love. I’m so sorry, I know how terrible you must feel. You lay down now, Angel, Dads gonna go get some Tums, a nice warm blanket, a hot water bottle and some Advil, yeah?” You nod again, slipping further into the blanket. I kiss your forehead and get up.
“Papa will be back, I pinky promise. I’m never leaving.”

Caring for a Kiddo with Stomach Issues . . . 🐾
• Always carrying Pepto Bismol, Tums, and prune juice with you, just in case they have a flare up 🫶🏻
• Allowing them to vent about the pain, knowing there’s not much you can do (which is okay!)
• Encouraging them to eat fibre rich foods to help their digestion
• Mint gum, fizzy drinks, and Tums for nausea
• Heating pads, ibuprofen, and rest to help with the cramping and pain
• Prune juice, soft/subtle laxatives, and Pepto Bismol for constipation
• Tums, Pepto Bismol, and figuring out “problem” or trigger foods to help ease diarrhea
• Water! I can’t stress enough how helpful water is for all stomach issues, from nausea to constipation
• Helping them still eat while acknowledging that it might hurt/not stay in their tummy, which is okay 💞

Caring for a Kiddo with ARFID. . . 🕸️🐾
(avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder)
• Trying to incorporate fibre rich / healthier foods into safe/comfort foods
• Checking in that they’ve eaten today and never getting mad when they haven’t 💗
• Learning their sensory issues and finding ways to get the proper nutrients while respecting their dislikes
• Cutting foods into silly shapes to distract from the textures
• Making games up to try and get them to eat more (I recommend rewards (deserts/treats! but only if they don’t struggle with “earning” foods), playing catch (throwing the food in the air and catching it in your chompers!), or even eating like specific animals!!)
• Never pushing their sensory issues, especially when they’re regressed (they know their body best 🫶🏻)
• Always being proud of them for eating, no matter how “small” it may seem to you
• Listen and learn, your kiddo is recovering and healing, and the best thing you can do is love them 💞

Christmas Eve . . . 🎄
I wander downstairs to see you sitting in front of the christmas tree, staring in wonder. I chuckle to myself, as I step closer and crouch beside you. “Hi there Sweet Baby”, I coo, watching the reflection of the lights in your eyes shine ✨ You babble to me, reaching out for my arms. I pick you up and hold you close, swinging us gently. “Papas Sweet Cherub, aren’t you? The most angelic baby ever, such a sweetheart”, I whisper, watching your eyes float shut as the soft Christmas music lulls you to sleep. I place you down in your crib, next to the Christmas tree 🎄, and sit back in the rocking chair across the room. Soon, Santa will come, and you’ll wake up to open your presents. 🎁 But for now…I think we both need our rest. And as my eyes close, I hear the soft jingle bells and hooves on the ceiling. . . 🦌
