Marinette and Nino, under ✨circumstances✨ find out who each others crush is.
Nino has a big crush on marinettes bff alya but god he can't let anyone know that. Marinette is head over heels for ninos friend adrien, but she gets so giddy she can't even talk to him. Chloe is just there bc Ami. They decide to help each other out.
Turns out they live next to each other, which is convenient.
Cue shenanigans, slowly becoming the others home, slowly falling in love, the usual toradora drama.
Bonus points if the two are still superheroes (but only them, maybe Nino has the cat miraculous). As superheroes they're very supportive best friends, they know each other like the back of their hand. Could never imagine a ROMANCE between them.
But their civilian selves meet for real, learn to relove the same person. But they slowly start to piece together who the other one is that even the reveal happens they aren't even surprised.

If y’all are wondering about my bio!dad month stuff... I got busy with school, but I had this already pre-written, so I thought I could give you guys this while you wait

In this AU, Hawkmoth never existed, but the miraculous are still a thing. Marinette was chosen and trained by Master Fu to become the next Guardian of the miraculous at a young age.
Marinette, at the bright young age of 16, manages to successfully launch her own fashion house with the help of Audrey Bourgeois. Now, wanting to extend her brand to Asia, Marinette goes to Japan to open a branch of her fashion house there.
Her brand is under an artist’s name, rather than her real name.
Still, Marinette’s parents wanted her to continue her schooling, and Audrey recommended Ouran as a way for her to make powerful connections. The school accepted her application, impressed with her self-starter story, even if her direct family isn’t up to their usual standards.
Marinette is a first-year, being in the same class as Haruhi and the twins. This confuses the student body because, well, what family was the Dupain-Chengs? She couldn’t be another scholarship student, Haruhi was the scholarship student of the first years, and there was only one scholarship student in every year.
This starts the school-wide “Marinette Mystery”. Students all around need something to spend their time on, and so, people tried to investigate, the phenomenon even spreading to the Host Club. And once it reached the Host Club, it was, of course, turned into a bet on who could crack the Marinette Mystery first.
Marinette is completely oblivious to all of this happening.
“Have you heard about the new student?” “She’s in class 1-A” “Do you know her family?” That was how the whispers sounded in the halls of Ouran, on one Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s first day of school at the prestigious academy. The girl herself was oblivious to the attention as she entered her class and introduced herself, and she continued to be oblivious as she got seated and peoples’ whispers increased in volume.
She stayed oblivious, even as a pair of twins watched on in curiosity, mischievous smirks as crooked as that of the Cheshire cat finding their places on their faces. With the two, a just as oblivious, or perhaps disinterested, girl, sat, not batting an eye and not bothering to listen.
This was the beginning of the Marinette Mystery.
Marinette didn’t actively go to the host club in the beginning, mostly due to the fact that she didn’t even know of its existence. Besides, Marinette was a busy girl, she had a company to run and grades to keep up.
What she did enjoy doing, was eating outside during lunch under the shade of a tree, enjoying the weather, and her food. She would often prepare or bake her own small pastries for school. Most of the time, something simple and easy like cookies, but if she wanted to be more technical, then Marinette wasn’t above baking some macarons instead. This was the way she first met a member of the host club.
