Combat was something she felt as if she would never get used to. As adept on the battlefield as the old her was rumored to be, standing there overseeing and carrying out what felt like an execution of many, many living beings was . . Unsettling, to say the least. Though she was not so naive as to think this sort of thing could be avoided all the time. As much as she would have liked to have sat down and talk things out with the reunion troops . . They’d made it clear they did not want that, and she couldn’t force them.

So, her only other option was to take up the mantle she’d earned for herself: Tactician and figure head of Rhodes Island, even on the field. But, this would be her final battle . . At least for a while, anyways, hopefully.

As such, she saw fit to bring along the operators she knew she could trust most. And that overly trusting nature of hers just about bit her in the ass. It wasn’t his fault, of course, she should have been more vigilant. But when one has the utmost confidence in their allies, the thought that an enemy unit could break through and make their way all the way to her . . It hadn’t crossed her mind.

Even so, he’d made it just in time to save her, hadn’t he ? So maybe putting all that trust in him wasn’t as bad of an idea as she was trying to convince herself it was.

Though she’d staggered backwards to prepare for the incoming strike, she was not quite as frazzled as he seemed to be. Looking to the guard operator through the screen of her mask, the doctor nods. A raspy voice following suit from within the cloak.

“ I’m fine, thanks to you. Be careful though, we aren’t done just yet . . Try not to take any more hits like that though, we need you out here . . Can’t have you falling off just because you’re trying to protect others. ” She was . . Trying to put on a brave face, but her heartbeat was pounding against her eardrums. Nonetheless, she grins, and it shows in her voice despite its alterations, “ I can take a hit or two myself, so try not to focus too much on me. ”

This was something she knew he wouldn’t like to hear, especially right now . . But they were supposed to be acting as if nothing was abnormal, so . . She’d deal with the consequences later on.

“ Well . . Yeah ? Wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t. ” She does pause for a moment at the returned compliment . . Though after a moment, she grins, “ Thanks. Ah . . You’re right, there probably is but . . It’s just not the same, you know ? ”

If Katalina was an ancient, she would either be an Ursus or a Draco. 

That being said, if any operator’s require brushings of any sorts, her door is always open.

Some small headcanons for Pistil while I work on her about page:

Can sit absolutely still, unblinking, in one spot for hours.

Is often found in her office with her bugs all over her (normally butterflies, or normal mantises. Others have walked in on her covered in wasps and lost it, so she takes care to only let the ‘pretty’ ones be seen on her by others.)

Has been banned from bringing any of her bugs outside of her office.

Radiates a sweet, floral scent at all times. Is seen to have calming properties.

Is an airhead, though her ditzziness is often seen as creepy or unnerving by other operators. 

Her eyes are LARGE and somewhat hypnotic to stare at. It may not be something you notice right away but after a while you’ll start to double-take and stare because her eyes are just a bit too large to be normal. Staring contests with Pistil have long since been banned.

Another new operator OC incoming - ! Basics: Her code name is Pistil and she’s Rhodes Islands resident Entomologist and Botanist. Normally steers clear of combat, though she’s classified as a 'Summon’ type operator.

On the off chance that Katalina becomes infected with Oripathy, (because there is a large chance she could given that she works with infected often and without many precautions,) the crystallization on her body would manifest on her head in the form of obsidian colored horns. Though never one to place herself on the battlefield for combat, her ability to utilize arts would be enhanced by the infection, allowing her to deal some damage if needed.

The curiosity fades from the woman’s face, shortly replaced by vague worry. So , they were unwell. If that were the case, then the smartest thing to do would be to take them to the infirmary , however . . Pramanix doubted that would go over well.

“ Do not apologize. As an operator of Rhodes Island, to support you is my duty. ” Her expression remains unreadable as she reaches out and places the back of her hand against the doctor’s forehead, gently, “ . . You are not warm. Though I do suggest speaking to Kal’sit if you’ve been having trouble with sleep. In the mean time . . I could help . . ” She was quite nap-savvy after all.

An outwardly unnoticeable jolt of surprise causes her fur to stand on end , though she makes no move to push the other away and allows them to lean up against her for the time being. With a series of curious blinks directed towards them , Pramanix’s ears shift ever so slightly backwards.

“ . . Are you unwell, doctor ? ”

The doctor silently approaches you and as soon as they are close enough they just plop their head against your shoulder.

Apparently, someone didn’t want to get out of bed this morning.
