In 2024, I set a goal to watch as many Top 100 Movies with my partner as I can. He is an avid film watcher, whereas I am not, so I am keen to be introduced to his favourites and the classics.
This is what we are basing our Top 100 Movies on:
Jaws & Jurassic Park were watched last year.
The first movie for 2024, was Singin' In the Rain.
What a masterpiece! I had no idea how pure and wonderful it was - I enjoyed every aspect of it, from Donald O'Connor's piercing blue eyes to the simplicity of the script.
I was in awe with the dancing, I was floored by how many references I was familiar with but had no idea it had come from this movie.
One of the biggest things, my partner shared with his late father (who passed in November 2023), was old cinema
Introducing me to this movie was a big deal. Before the movie even commenced, a collection of three trailers in a special collated playlist by my partner from 1959. The vibe was set, and we were ready.
What made this experience even more special (for me) was my partner passing his knowledge on throughout the film. Just like his father, he glittered the film with facts about the actors, the soundtrack and the film itself.

I am sure that's for a lot of people too, but the fact Cosmo (Donald O'Connor) looks like he is walking on air in parts, it looks so effortless and seamless - it's a dream.
Overall, I really enjoyed the film. It's such an easy, dreamy watch. I have all of the good feels.
as it's the final day of 2023, I have been reflecting.
my thoughts are garbled hugely, i have so much to do around the house and just haven't done it after spending two and half days in bed with a stomach bug.
I have no complaints for 2023. it was a year of acceptance, and setting more boundaries, being comfortable with me, my limitations and what I offer to the world.
when i was going through my divorce, wilder mind was released. It was the album that spoke all of my feelings, the confusion and hurt that I was experiencing - and the crippling loneliness.
;And I can't be for you all of the things you want me to
But I will love you constantly
There's precious little else to me
And though we cry, we must stay alive;
