I loved Kar’niss so much that I got him tattooed on my leg 🥰 This took many months to complete and was done in about 7 or so sessions of 3-5 hours by the lovely missav_tattoos on instagram.
The flowers around him and the other portrait (Sophia, from the Gnostic pantheon) have meaning too and add to the general theme I had in mind for it:
Lilly-of-the-valley: tears of the Virgin Mary, humility
Anemone: forsaken
Lotus: enlightenment, rebirth
Marigold: grief, jealousy
I wish we could save Kar’niss and recruit him 😭 at least I have him on my leg 🥲
Third session on my cover up tattoo by @dexbud_medusha at Beautiful Body Art in Narre Warren. The elbow as usual was agony! Those Bali tattooists are so rough 😰
So, this guy here is Yavaal, one of my original characters. I haven’t drawn aliens for aaaages, so I thought I’d draw him. He’s actually my re-imagining of the Silents from Doctor Who. I’ve always wanted to see them as actual “proper” Greys, especially since the whole no mouth thing freaks me the hell out.
Overall, despite not being a prolific drawer, I think I’ve improved since I last drew an alien. During this drawing I learnt many things, such as despite using strong and thick mixed media paper, it’s fragile when going up against an eraser and I erase a lot. Also, I really should use guidlines and all that jazz instead of diving in head first and hoping for the best lmao.
Materials used: art spectrum mixed media paper 210 gsm, Prismacolours, Polychromos, Copic fine liners, white gel pen thingy.
