Hawthorn took the lead over Maserati and Jaguar, setting the first lap record in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at more than 200 km/h (203.015 km/h average speed), but unfortunately the car was withdrawn at the fourth hour of the race due to mechanical problems. The beautiful Ferrari, then, won fourth place in the Swedish Grand Prix and second place in the Venezuelan Grand Prix on 3 November 1957 (still at the wheel of the Hawthorn-Musso team), leading the Ferrari company to win the Manufacturers' World Title.
