Bumping this up 10,000 years later to show off the first ref for my starter Labrador, Astro! He found the Green Leather Collar, very basic, but I think it suits him :)
My lore so far is he actually comes from outer space. I don't know how he got here. The "Weird Alien" item is actually a real alien, and Astro recognizes them as a fellow extraterrestrial, but they both mostly keep to themselves. His best friend is Archie's dog Spot since they have the same collar. He is weirdly wary of Adam's dog Bear, who's usually so friendly...wonder what their history is.
So far he's my only dog, dunno how I'm gonna decide who to get next lol. Either gonna pick my fave or pull a number from a hat, I guess? The German Shepherd puppies are cute.
I should probably also mention that my goal with Nintendogs is to get 99 of each item I can, because I want to see what happens after. Does it still "give" you the item, but stop counting/max at 99? Does it crash? Does it not give you an item? We're gonna find out...eventually.
…so I’m playing Nintendogs Labrador Edition (since I never had it as a kid, I had the Chihuahua one), and uh… it occurred to me that it would be fun to make the dogs I get into lil OCs and draw them and post about them? Vaguely supernatural, vaguely early 2000s dog OC aesthetic. Anyone interested? |D
Also to spice it up, their one piece of clothing/accessory they get is whatever they pick up first on a walk! There could be shenanigans with that. The game has some WILD accessories for the pups.

Happy new year! I started a graphic last year to track games I beat through the year, will probably end up doing the same for this year. It was fun. I have several other playthroughs on the go, but until I get to the credits, they don't count ;) They'll be on 2024 though.
My fatal flaw is that I enjoy RPGs and boy howdy they aren't the shortest games. Lol.
V Thoughts about some of the games I played below V
Favourite game hands DOWN was Monster Hunter Stories 2. That game is so incredibly well made, it almost makes me cry. I still need to get into the postgame some more and train up some absolutely busted beasties >:) And finish that fanart of my dear Pukei-Pukei.
Can't forget about Tales of Symphonia though. I beat it a couple times as a kid with my brother, but this is the first (and solo) run I've done in well over a decade (nearly two). It holds up so well, and the themes and story are still topical. One of these years I'll deep dive into the secret bosses and sidequests. Gotta get those new game+ perks first.
Lastly, big shoutout to Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. I picked it up in a retro game store's bargain bin for $5, figured it sounded fun. I am now absolutely enamoured with a couple of the monster designs (heart eyes at Jailcat) and got the new Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince game for Christmas on my Switch. Been playing the HECK out of that too. Monster tamer games my beloved.
Moving into 2024, there's gonna be much of the same. I have some Pokemon playthroughs that I'm always plucking away at, and I'm about 75% of the way through Tales of Arise as well. DQM: The Dark Prince will make it this next year, obviously. I also have Bayonetta 2, 3, and the spinoff Cereza and the Lost Demon in my backlog. At some point I need to continue playing the Professor Layton games. Aaaand I'm about 40-50% through a revisit of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
So again: monster tamers and RPGs for the most part. I am beyond predictable :')

My workplace did a silent auction and I scored all this for $80 CAD!! I mainly bought it for the Pokemon stuff alone (I didn't have carts for FireRed, Ruby, or Red Rescue Team before), but the other pieces are nice too. Not sure what I'm gonna do with two extra SPs, but eyyy.

Introducing Variant Forms to Pokemon Obscura! Much like shinies, variants can appear in the wild with various odds (as depicted in the picture). Each Pokemon will have 0-3 alternate forms, and if you're lucky, you might even find a shiny one!
Deltas show the most promise for being useful, as they add some extra type diversity and even come with tweaked learnsets. Glitches end up with really bizarre moves, some of which may be more helpful than others... And Poke Balls? They do nothing, they're just for prestige :)
And if you're a regular shiny hunter like me, you can also cry now |D
(don't worry, you can guarantee-breed forms, and breeding has increased shiny odds, so I'm not completely, irredeemably awful)

These sprites were supposed to be used for a project but, due to unforeseen circumstances, can no longer be used. I'm really happy with the work I did on these, so I went and got permission to post them, finally.
All of the 'mons and characters here (except for the old man) were designed by the very talented Greg Andrade. I'll pop down a link to his DeviantArt, where all of these designs are archived, and his Instagram, where he is currently posting on a regular basis.

Finally completed the entire Pokemon Solar Light & Lunar Dark shiny living dex today. Including a bonus box for Pokemon that have different gender colours or forms.
And before everyone panics too hard, the shiny rate ends up being around 1/48, so like, not the worst for shiny hunting lol.
Still, with 358 Pokemon it does take time. Very rewarding to see it done.

Haven't done a plant update in a hot minute huh. Ruby celebrates her second year of plant life this spring/summer, and wow has she taken off! I used to rotate her but she started growing long branches over the edge of the table...and now I just can't. So I leave her be, prune her leaves every day or two (she's growing SO MANY new ones), and watch her thrive in the sunlight.
It's hard to get a good picture of her scale, but in the first picture you can see her pot in the middle of her mass. So use that for scale when comparing with old pictures.
We need to talk about Gemma. I didn't realize it at the time, but I think campfire coleus plants are supposed to be annuals. I stubbornly refused to let her die over the winter, and uh...yeah...she grew...a little bit... Her tag says she's supposed to be 14-28" tall. I measured her this morning and she's 29.5". She's so tall that if I don't let her rest against the window, she will uproot from her own weight. Woops.
Hugo does alright, but I think he gets too much sun. I was hoping Gemma would shade him a little more, but alas, life never works the way you expect it to. He's still thriving though, his leaves just usually scorch. But he's happy enough.
I don't have any good pictures of Tomas because his pot is currently overrun with my wildflower mix. He's at an awkward stage in life because he's grown too lanky and keeps wanting to fall over. He also keeps growing aerial roots to try and stabilize...aerial roots that he grows over the side of the pot. Not ideal. We're working on it.
