Do you guys like how I dance? I got zirconium pants, and they'll slip you into a trance.
Do yall like how I walk? What about how I talk? Do you like how my face disintegrates in chalk?
I have a wonderful wife, and a powerful job. But sadly she criticizes me for being egocentric 😔
L:
... are you sure you don't practice your mannerisms into the wall? because i'm sure if this mirror were clearer i'd be standing so tall.. i also saw you slobber over clovers on the side of the hill..? maybe you were just observing the birds... but i'd circle in for the kill.......
Light:
Well...I've been you, I know you, your facade is...simply all a scam. You know you're making me cry. This is the way that I am, even though I'd like to pretend otherwise. I've been living a lie---you could call it a metamorphical scheme of sorts. And I'm a detective undercover, brotherhood, objective...maybe even obscene.

The. The guys

L:
ooouuh,, these were both really interesting to look through. i especially like mac's design (which i'm assuming is the first link). i'm also definitely seeing all the trauma you mentioned travis having in the last ask. i'm curious if that "has too many thoughts (at night)" bit has anything to do with the illusions.
overall, very interesting characters. very silly little guys. i approve. thank you for sharing.
Light:
Character sheets!
And this is certainly very interesting...and the trauma that you mentioned giving Travis on the last ask is all there (though, personally, I don't think you should give him more, the guy's already suffering enough). Mac does seem like an interesting character as well, and she honestly looks like a very intense, or at least very intelligent, person to me.
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed looking at both of your characters!

On the topic of tickling, L we know you love women, but what if your girl was ticklish herself? would you like it? would you like to tickle her on a whimsical winter midnight till she's giggling, running out of breath?
L:
.. this. feels like a setup.
.
nonetheless there is not a thing in the world i wouldn't do for her so really the actual question is what i wouldn't like about her which is nothing to be clear because she could tell me to do anything and i would easily be at her beck and call and if i ever deny that i want you to shoot me in the head because that is not me--the real me is worshipping her at her feet as we speak right now 24/7, seven days a week. she's ticklish? not a moment where i'm not touching her. she's squishy? tracing her curves like a greek statue sent from the heavens. she's short? i can carry her. she's tall? we can take turns carrying each other because i won't live with myself if i'm not able to carry her anyways. she hates every ounce of my being and wants me dead? i'll start digging the grave.
do not test me on my love for women. i could say so much more and so much worse and you should be lucky that i am still holding back. i am a certified woman lover. i would be kissing and squeezing her senseless on any midnight. winter. summer. fall. spring. i'm there. that's me. do. not. test. me.
so yes. yes i would like it.
.. yes i'm normal.
Light:
...
...I think we can all agree that he isn't. Because what the fuck is even going on up there.
And I'm just curious as to why some sentences are italicised...Autumn, what's your ulterior motive here?

no neither of y'all win the tickle fights. misa would be like "omg what's going on you guys? ^-^" and then mercilessly destroy you two and leave you both in tears begging for mercy because light's weakness is that he's INCREDIBLY sensitive to being tickled and L may or may not be just as sensitive to tickling but even if he's NOT, he's sensitive to pretty women and misa... misa is a very pretty woman.

true. however. my death would still be more respectable because it'd be for misa.
i can sacrifice myself if it's for pretty women. light-kun's just a sensitive coward with zero taste. so i still win by default.

I know I said later.. but I'm about to go to bed and thoughts go burrrrrr
This specific writing is for two of my characters, focusing quite a bit on Travis's problems. This happens after an encounter with "illusions" that is particularly worse than the other ones that they've had (there are four in the group). Illusions are. What the name states. They can't physically harm anything, but they will make up things, using your brain against you. They don't have to be true, but they can be. Anyways, Travis is like. My little guy. I need to murder him. And I do usually! But he gets to live this time. After that whole thing, he sort of. Spirals. In short, Mac walks in on him on the verge of a panic attack and a suicide attempt. Originally, he was going to actually off himself, but I changed it. He wouldn't have died fully anyway. <- to explain, he is. Favored by the God, Harmonia. He will be alive as long as he is entertaining to said entity, whether he likes it or not.
I feel like I should explain the whole god thing, but I'll start at the world instead.
In incredibly simple terms, humanity pisses off the gods, and they "reset" the whole species by killing almost all of them. After they were satisfied, they went back to mostly observing. The way I describe this us that they created things intended to kill. An example being something I've written about before, a fungus based off the zombie ant virus. Moving away from that and back to the characters,
Mac and Travis are more so. Siblings. Travis goes from avoidant to attached really fucking quick. This is how I plan on this happening in the actual story. I'll probably show some character sheets in a bit because I made some for the two of them.
Mac is definitely not someone for emotions, but out of the other two, she's the better pick if you need to scream about your problems.
Anyways I need sleep don't mind my probably incoherent rambles,,
-☾
L:
ooouh... your characters and the world they're living in do sound really interesting. i always like it when divinities and humanity have a complex relationship with each other in stories. and the idea of the gods simply killing off humanity once they get bored is always fun to explore.
and that line-- "I need to murder him. And I do usually!"-- is definitely a sentence, hah. i like that one.
anyways, travis and mac do seem like quite the pair. especially with the existence of these "illusions" and what have you. feel free to share those character sheets. i'd like to see these concerning little fellows.
Light:
Ooh. This does seem like a rather interesting plot...have you written a first chapter yet?
Anyways. Involving gods in a story's always really interesting to me, because they don't need to play by the rules (unless your story requests them to) and they can screw around with the humans all they like, adding a surprise element to the story because of their unpredictability. And you can write about gods who are callous because they're simply bored, or gods who are tired of seeing humanity die over and over again---there's just so many ways it could play out.
Your characters do sound interesting, and I can't wait for your character sheets so I can understand a little more on their personalities, their likes and dislikes, what makes them tick, and so on and so forth.
Have fun writing!

In response to the other anon asking if you guys look for our identities, frankly i couldnt care less if you know who i am, its fairly easy to figure out. i just like reasons to relate myself to Deer. I did a self portrait once as a deer mount pouring blood. it was quite...something. definitely got a lot of responses to that one.
as for art being subjective vs objective:
i can see where each of you in coming from in that sense. some things ARE blatantly what they are and it would be kind of wild to say otherwise. like who am i to tell Da Vinci that the Mona Lisa is actually an space cat alien, not a woman. but i do still think its possible to get multiple interpretations out of her.
i will also be the first to say im not a fan of the genre of what is technically in the art world called a "ready-made". basically like what you said, taking an object that already exists, fastening it to something, setting up lighting for it, etc. ya know, MINOR changes and calling it art. im not a big fan. its lazy and unoriginal in my blunt opinion. it doesnt create new ideas and thoughts in my brain unless i BS them. like if i see an apple on a pedestal, im taking it at face value, because its simply an apple on a pedestal. it being placed on something doesnt make it any less or more to me. its just an apple. and according to your definition, it would not be art since it does not cause or create new ideas or conversation to flow. it furthers nothing.
unfortunately, in the art community, its hard to have this debate because the widely used definition is the "everything is art" one and some people cannot take criticism to save their life. if you tell suzy sue that her michael jackson x barack obama fanart is not visually compelling and offer her advice, she might cancel you on twitter. we all need to stop being wusses and also stop being rude in the art world. its important to give your fellow artists helpful and meaningful critique and feedback without being harsh or condescending. and it is of equal importance to learn to accept that feedback and use it to better yourself as an artist.
i think another big thing for me and whether something is actually art is the design itself. does it have an interesting composition? does it use an impactful color scheme? does it have a focal point? etc, etc. if these points can be argued for a piece, im more willing to call it art.
realism is also a point of contention because some will ask "whats the point if it just looks like a photo?" the skill, the effort, the time. the unique touch of human hands that gives it a slight charm even in the most hyper realistic pieces. that is the point.
have another piece as a treat. a drawing i did from life for class last semester, its a plant. about as opposite as you can get from the other piece i shared:
https://imgur.com/a/hkcqYKK
-🦌
Light:
Ooh, that's interesting. Why the choice of deer, though, so specifically? Is it for some reason, or just an instinctive decision?
And I agree with your point on what you've referred to as "ready-made". I guess, for art to be meaningful, it has to mean something in the first place, and an apple sure as hell doesn't mean anything to people. Honestly, it seems like lazy artwork to me, even though I'm not an artist. But I'd like to ask you: what exactly would you define as 'ready-made'? Would that mean, then, that photographers' work are technically also 'ready-made', as all they're doing is taking picture of something preexisting and hence not creating, in that sense? What's the boundaries between something that's art, and something that's 'ready-made'? Is it something that you can define at all?
There's this branch of art called 'Dadaism', and there are some works inside that may be considered 'ready-made' in a way. For example, Marcel Duchamp's Fountain and Bicycle Wheel are famous examples of that art movement. And Dadaism was actually made up of artists who wanted to use this nonsensical, crazy form of art to express horror and disgust of the bloodshed that occurred during World War 1. It was commonly known as the 'anti-art' movement, and its main purpose was to create art that would confuse, shock or even aggravate the public.
This ties in to what you'll see Ryuzaki discuss below. Perhaps the occurrences of this 'ready-made' art isn't really the art itself, but it's the thoughts and emotions the artist wanted to express when making the art. And, if this 'ready-made' art exists because of a true effect the artist intended to create on the general public, then it's arguable that it could be considered as art, because isn't art used to express your feelings in the first place? Even though I still don't really consider 'ready-made' pieces as art...it's still interesting food for thought.
And your piece is wonderfully drawn. I love how you rendered the leaves; it looks really beautiful. Kind of reminds me of Chinese bamboo paintings...I'd love to see more of your work, if you'd like to share!
Lastly, thanks for your ask. I love having these kinds of discussions, even though I unfortunately took a long time to get back to you..
L:
wow.. the plant piece is beautiful.. all of the strokes come out so nicely and eloquent. it really makes me want to see this deer self portrait now. that sounds even more intriguing. no pressure though, of course. i just think it's a really fascinating idea.
and as much as i despise "ready-made" pieces too, i honestly have a slight respect for them. i would still consider them art, because i do think it evokes a conversation, but specifically the kind of conversation that makes you question it's existence, if that makes sense.
for example, that duct-taped banana i mentioned in the last ask, that's actually what made me question the whole idea of art in the first place. if something so insignificant can be considered so valuable to people, then who am i to tell them that it's not really art? maybe it is. or maybe the questioning of what it is was the whole point. maybe, the conversation it was actually sparking was more-so like.. a rebellion. a taunt. almost as if it were saying: "you want art? i'll give you art. and you'll be forced to take it." if i remember correctly, there was actually another artist who did that exact thing. his name was richard mutt and he submitted a urinal with a signature of his name as an art piece. it was stupid, and absurd, and that was the point. he submitted it to prove that if he signed his name on it and paid the application fee, the group he submitted it to would've accepted it no matter how thoughtless. he made an art piece that was meant to depict what stupid art looks like, and it worked. so as much as i despise the pieces, i do still think they're art, at least to an extent.
it's things that are made with the intent of gaining either popularity, money, or whatever else there is that i don't consider art. i'd go into more detail about it, but there's already a video out there that depicts it really well, so i'll just link it here. it's by cj the x and he's known for being very chaotic, so it might be a difficult to listen to at first, but i personally really like it. their points always wrap together really nicely as the video continues and the humor is my style, so i swear it's worth a watch, hah.
anyways. i'll stop myself there so i don't annoy you too much, but i do also agree with your points on the design, process, and overall thought that gets put into art pieces. i really like this discussion overall, actually. i apologize if i sounded rude at all, i have no intention to. i enjoy being able to converse about these topics, haha. so thank you for letting me, truly.

so...we're allowed to show you guys our poems too?... In that case...I'll show you one of mine. Of sounds Down here everything - even the noises – tend to stand back, tend to walk away with cold, barely audible steps on the icy quiet floor. And sometimes, just sometimes I wonder what lingering eyes, what soundless claw has driven them into deaf corners shaking As I lay here still on the floor of my omnipotent silence.
--Anon 🍰
L:
my god this is the kind of poem i can sit and analyze for a few hours ooooooouhhhhhhhhhh..............
i'm a sucker for juxtaposing sound and silence, especially in little creepy bits like this. "what soundless claw / has driven them into deaf corners" is a line that i wanna shove into my brain and shake like a coin box. and that last line as well-- jesus. i need to stare at this longer. why omnipotent specifically? are they in control of all this silence? why would an omnipotent entity not know what creature lurks in the dark? or maybe it's just a depiction of the unwavering self-awareness that comes with isolation? something else entirely? god i have so many questions.
if you'd like to add onto this and explain it like an author's note, or just share any more poetry, please do. i'd really like to see the thought process behind this or just other works in general. thank you for sharing this one at all.
Light:
This is honestly...beautiful. I didn't really get it the first few times I read it, but now that I've got the time to properly sit down and turn this over in my mind, I can appreciate it better.
This poem is certainly extremely well-written. I love the choice of some specific words: "soundless claw", "deaf corners", and of course, "omnipotent silence". I love the way whatever it is that's haunting this places forces even noises to slink, terrified, back to wherever they came from, and the ominous note that this poem holds throughout.
And I can't help but want to know more about this. Where is this place? What does it stand for?
Like Ryuzaki said, I'd love if you can add on an author's note. This poem is wonderful, and I really would like to learn more about it. Feel free to share other works as well, if you'd like!

do you have any sensory like... triggers? textures, sounds, sensations, etc. that make you feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable? mine are fireworks (they are panic attack inducing for me and probably for many others as well) and the texture of pudding, it makes me wanna throw up
interestingly though, the texture of bavarian cream doesn't bother me despite it being very similar to pudding. bavarian cream donuts are too yummy for my body to reject them (they are the best kind of donut please agree with me)
- strawbunny 🐇🍰
L:
there are a lot sensory things that i don't like, but overall i can handle most of them, even though it's not ideal.
however, i can't handle crowds. there's too many people to take note of.. and sounds. and overall movement in general. it feels like drowning. i'm not a crowd person.
also pants. i hate most pants. there's always something off with the texture. or the way it hits my legs. or the length. or the sounds the fabric makes. or. everything.
.. i get picky about pants.
and yes, you're absolutely right. bavarian cream donuts are the best and i'm glad your body at least allows you to eat those because i would be incredibly sorry for you if you couldn't experience such beauty. pudding may have a weird texture, but we sacrifice what we must for bavarian cream donuts........
Light:
Not really anything, honestly. There may be things I don't like, but I can certainly put up with it...
But something that I can say for sure is, similar to Ryuzaki, I can't take crowds. Especially when they're crowding up on you and talking, and basically just enclosing in on you. It's a horrible feeling.
I also can't take it when people keep on talking to me, even when I've made it clear I don't feel like listening right now, and touching me as they speak. If you can't tell, that is directed...and now can you figure out why I don't exactly enjoy Misa's company? On that note, I don't like when most people touch me, either...it feels icky, and I'm not a fan of forcing myself to smile and accept it. Though that's sadly what I have to do sometimes.
And I haven't eaten Bavarian donuts. So, sorry, but I unfortunately can't offer my opinion on this...perhaps I'll try it one day, though. Ryuzaki probably will get me to.

AHAA I KNEW IT I KNEW YOU BOTH WOULD LIKE IT THAT'S SO COOL!!!!
good omens makes me so emotional oh my god. i don't know if you've seen season two yet but it makes me feel like eating glass and i can't wait for season 3 and to put those idiots in another situation together and have them go to couple's therapy. GAH as you've seen on your guys' poems unconventional love removed from its sweet fluffy roots makes me absolutely FERAL and my absolute favorite trope is tragic romances/tragic soulmates.
light, if you want more literary recommendations, howl's moving castle by diana wynne jones, the simon snow books by rainbow rowell, the kane series by rick riordan (the start of my 4th grade ancient egyptian phase) and the books tress and the emerald sea and yumi and the nightmare painter by brandon sanderson are amazing! another set of books i'm not really sure is your cup of tea but i absolutely love is adventures in moominvalley by tove jansson, the characters are actually far more unhinged than the cute little illustrations and summaries would suggest.
Light:
Good Omens is a good work of literature, after all. Though I unfortunately haven't seen the show yet, the book (and what little glimpses I have managed to catch of the show) reassure me that I probably should put it on my to-watch list sometime.
And I guess tragic romances is rather beautiful, and heart-wrenching, to read about. It always does something to you, doesn't it?
Lastly, thanks so much for the book recs! I've read the Kane Chronicles before, but I'll look out for the others. I'd actually planned to read the Simon Snow series, so I'll get to it this holiday.
And Moomin Valley does sound interesting. Ryuzaki and I actually talked a little about it not too long ago, and I do enjoy the illustrations...so maybe I'll give it a go!
L:
unlike light-kun, i have watched season two. i have not recovered. and if they do not get couple's therapy i may join this glass tasting club of yours.
tragic romance is definitely a favorite of mine though. i like all kinds of romantical stories, but tragic ones have always been the most divine. there's a certain beauty in the world ripping you to pieces over and over. it's like you can't look away.
ohoh and i've actually read the simon snow series before, or more accurately just the first book, but either way i adored that one. it was one of the few books i could actually sit and finish. same with another book by rainbow rowell, it was called Eleanor & Park. which was actually what got me into another book called That's Debatable by jen doll. that one's still my favorite romance story by far. and that book actually got me into What If It's Us. which was what got me into Will Grayson Will Grayson. which lead to Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda. and then Heartstopper. and..
.. did you know i like romance?
anyways. good omens. very good story. in all forms. yes.
