#my art#1920s fashion#1920s style#j c leyendecker#its actually kind of composite#and of course I changed the colours#I used a 1916 ad for his face#and multiple paintings for her hair because the hair on the girl in the ad was driving me nuts#mrleyendecker sir#those curls made no sense at all#still not entirely pleased with her hair#but whatever#I'm very pleased with his face at any rate

YOUR ART STYLE MAKES MY BRAIN SO HAPPY. I genuinely gasped out loud when I realized the faces were done in a modern style with those gorgeous color palettes and clothes. It ties the whole style together very beautifully!

Been in a vampiry kind of mood lately
#my art#believe it or not this actually has very little to do with Astarion#I'm sure he was part of it#but my vampire thoughts are primarily the result of reading Worse vampire fiction#which shall remain unnamed#with pathetic excuses for vampires#and thinking about what characteristics I like to see in vampires and why#and then I dug up a four year old OC to draw#to pat myself on the back for my impeccable taste#actually Astarion was involved in that I was thinking while drawing#that I gave *my* boy white eyelashes because unlike Larian I'm not a COWARD#anyway its nice to have something finished#even if its not the most intricate thing imaginable#I've had such trouble finishing anything in the last six months or so#I POSTED THIS ON THE WRONG BLOG FIRST#GOD DAMN IT#if you saw that no you didn't

#the golden rose#ysabella#my art#fanart#I've wanted to do this one for a while#Ysabella's profile is really wel suited to early renaissance betrothal portraits that are always in profile#not that Ysabella is betrothed as far as I know#but I maintain that based on the technology the golden rose has to be early renaissance at the earliest#and i will continue to use the fashions of the 1400s as my inspo#please tell me tumblr fucked up the image quality as much as it currently appears#the whole point of this one was to try to enjoy doing lots of detail work#it mostly didn't work#i found doing all those pearls absolutely painful#but i like how it turned out so tumblr better not have ruined it#ramble ramble#complain complain#etc etc#also don't ask what the deal is with the ... artichoke? towers? on her dress?#idk what that's about its just what's on the dress in the original painting

#1870s fashion#my art#what if I just don't title this one#I can't think of anything good so maybe I just#wont#drawing unhappy victorian couples seems to be becoming a tradition at this point#at least this one is more accurate than the 1880s one#this was just supposed to be chill and low effort and now look what's happened#I started this a month ago#it wasn't even gonna have colour#the carnations were originally roses too#but then I decided to incorporate some floriography and had to redo them as carnations#and then the carnations turned out way better than everything else and I had to go back and make improvements#its fine its cool#I will learn nothing from this

#The Golden Rose#Alain#Ysabella#my art#Fanart#It took my a while to decide what era I wanted to pull from fashion wise#Like I know that the golden rose isn't historically accurate at all but it is still meant to be vaguely medieval#and I'm a nerd so#I eventually decided to take inspiration from the quattrocento (with many liberties taken)#because technologically the story seems kind of 15th century#what with the plate armour and galleons#and yes the 15th century is late medieval/early renaissance but given the story is about recovering lost ancient knowledge#it being the dawn of the renaissance kinda works#plus quattrocento fashion is pretty so there's that#There are other reasons too but I'm going to stop rambling in the tags now
