People keeps saying that they like Annie's story mode because it adds to the overall story and characters. I personally like Annie's story mode because they canonized best girl Robo-Fortune

Didn't realize this does make her canon, good for her.

Apparantly Marie and Black Dahlias' stories would collectively reveal the "True Canon Ending"

I suppose it's all up to the Indiegogo backers...

Now I'm really curious about Dahlia's story. If she and Marie would hypothetically complete the lore then they're inevitable unless the dev team has a different focus first.

I mean, if nothing else, Black Dahlia is important to the main plot because at some point Peacock will try to take down the Medici Mafia in Marie’s stead. The two of them will definitely end up fighting as a result, if Peacock’s story is any indication.

That's true. She's pretty big in other character's backstories with associations to others via the Medici, so maybe her story would reveal some thread that's been hidden so far.

Any thoughts on Marie being one of the new playable characters in the pass (both whether you think it's going to happen and whether you want it to happen)?

I think it's a 50/50. I don't know that she was ever a popular pick for DLC and the upcoming pass fighters may be more "priority", but she's a pivotal character which matches the current pass seemingly being geared toward lore. She'd probably be the last reveal if they don't throw some Robo-Fortune-level curveball instead.

I'm not too keen on her being fully playable tbh, though I wouldn't be mad if she got in. Nothing against her as a character, it just feels weird to have the boss character be on the same level as the fighters rather than being a uniquely powerful entity. Plus I'd prefer someone else whose capabilities we haven't seen yet.

Peacock (hesitantly): no.

Leduc: and each part had to be handcrafted to fit her body frame and ability?

Peacock (nervously): no.

Leduc: and then we had to treat the psychological trauma that she suffered?

Peacock (tear swelling): no.

Leduc: that's right, A LOT of people had to spend A LOT of time doing A LOT of work, AND WHAT IS TIME?

Peacock (sniffling): m...money?

Leduc: HOW MUCH MONEY?

Peacock (sobbing): more than 10000 coins?

Leduc (stop screaming): conservatively, that is the right amount.

All I can imagine is a Skullgirls mod that gives Painwheel a different outfit, adds eight more fanblades, and patches out her anxiety.

A while ago the devs said that in order to get the “full story” of the game, Annie, Umbrella, and Dahlia would need to be playable. Do you think that’s still true? If so, what do you think Annie’s route added to the story (besides, of course, the great characterization)?

I think so. Annie's story, much like Eliza's, brought a lot to the table in terms of Skull Heart-related lore, so I'm assuming the others will do similarly. I'm curious what impact Dahlia will have since she seems less pertinent to the main plot than Annie and Umbrella.

I think the most important point is when Double says Annie "has never been closer to her true goal". This implies there is a way to destroy the Skull Heart for good, and it might involve destroying Double since Annie seemed so intent on it even when the catacombs were collapsing. It also brings up questions about how/where Gehenna can manifest and how long Double can exist without the Heart being active.

Also, I again like that it's confirmed the Skull Heart "remembers" people, confirming Marie's reaction in Filia's SG Origin Story was her remembering Samson and a prior host (probably Delilah). I really want that story to be told.

I just realized Annie wanted to broadcast her show in part to combat the monarchy’s then-tyrannical influence, and Parasoul became not only a huge fan of hers but also the first to break the cycle of her family’s oppression.

When Annie says, “People needed joy in their lives and a moral compass that didn’t come from the totalitarian Renoir”, she doesn’t realize one of those people is a Renoir herself.

Any less than good things about Annie’s story mode?

Off the top of my head, me being me, I wish we had gotten to see Parasoul interacting with Annie. Not just to watch Parasoul trying not to geek out, but also because I'm curious how Annie operates in relation to the government and how familiar they are with each other.

That said, this is the heftiest story mode yet as is, so I understand if they couldn't touch on everything.
