The Turkey is cooking The families are hurrying It is time for Thanksgiving Desserts are baking and cooling Mouths are stuck waiting and drooling Wondering what is being made They will eat and they will stuff Great foods filled with love fluff Thanking everyone in there way But don’t forget the ones who are hidden The ones that live to protect your fixing Who are far far away They live in different States and Countries Wondering how the holiday will be Without them home Pray for their safety and mental well being For their families and loved ones who are needing Them back home To told them tight To never let go With all their might

I wish that I was a vacuum, capable of pulling out all the debris that sticks to your rib cage. I wish I was an anchor that drops and settles and secures you in place when you start to get taken over by the waves. I want to be the chill water that rides down the dip of your back in your morning shower. I want to be all the “yes” answers on your 12-year-old magic 8 ball. Can I read you with the palm of my hands? Can I be the caffeine that runs through your veins? I want to calm your soul especially on dreary days. I want to be the cold metal of a stethoscope, constantly resting on your heart beat. Let me be a wall for you to bounce your thoughts off, or a safety deposit box that you willingly place all your most prized and sacred memories within. Maybe I can be your see-through umbrella shielding you from massive drip-drop raindrops. I wish I was the sleepy sand in your morning eyes, a reminder that sleep can come easily. I wish I was your eyelashes, the body’s delicate dream catchers. I’d trade it all in, to be a fountain that you wish in or drink from. Will you let me be the oxygen in your bloodstream? I’ll only ever be the beginning and tail end, constant rhythm of your energy.
