((It's probably obvious on its own seeing as I have not been active here in 3 months, but I am closing this blog. I will not delete just in case I do decide to return to this muse someday, but for now I will not be returning to drafts or answering asks. I loved roleplaying Kriemhild Gretchen and she was such a different muse for me, but I'm afraid I've lost interest in roleplaying her and also I have less time in my personal life to dedicate to so many blogs. Out of all my muses Gretchen received the least amount of attention, and she also didn't go through as much development as past muses have. So I think it's best that I move on and leave her~
Thank you so much to all of you who have interacted with Gretchen, I had a lot of fun with you!!!! And to those who enjoyed the way I portrayed her, THANK YOU!!! ;A;
I am not gone from the pmmm fandom for good...at all. Please feel free to contact me/follow me/or rp with me on my other muses:
Madoka Kaname [multi-timeline; contracted or uncontracted]
Goddess Madoka [multi-timeline; also have a post-Rebellion verse]
And if that's not enough you can also find me here:
Rin Matsuoka [Free! fandom muse]
My personal
I love all of you lots and lots!!!! ^o^))

"I already understand." The witch snapped back quickly, looking away as the dark-haired female paused. She intended on listening to what the demon had to say, even if admittedly her annoyance had yet to leave her.
And then she heard that name...Madoka. Immediately upon hearing it uttered, Gretchen's head gave a sudden ache. The name put a bad taste in her mouth, filling the witch with feelings of familiarity as well as guilt. If Homura were telling the truth, then maybe that almost made sense, but the feeling was too intense that Gretchen could hardly focus on it enough to accept it.
"I...I don't remember." She managed to reply, her voice actually a bit smaller than it had been when she snapped moments before. "I don't remember you at all."
Though that wasn't entirely true; there was something about this girl that drove these strange feelings into her in the first place. It was dizzying, but Gretchen didn't want to admit this out loud...at least not yet. She still couldn't yet determine what she wanted to do with this girl, and so she couldn't risk showing a weakness of herself.

"So that I would know if you understood where you came from."  Homura hesitated for a moment, was it wise to tell her about her past.  "You see you were once a magical girl by the name of Madoka Kaname.  She was… A dear friend of mine."  She didn’t dare go any further, as it would bring out many bitter memories, and she could not afford to break down.  She knew how gretchen felt about those types of people.  She wanted her heaven to be a happy place, and would do anything to ensure that happened.

"Are you saying that the world's misfortune has been too hard for you?" With that, the witch's expression seemed to soften. A smile curved across her lips, one that could be easily thought of as kind. Gretchen's views were very much warped, but kindness was her intention even if her methods weren't exactly correct.
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry...that they didn't appreciate you like that. This world...it turned so cruel. That's why I wanted to save everyone."
"It sounds like you worked so hard... I can't let you suffer anymore."
<Maybe I’m not worthy of salvation, but I figured it was worth a try. I’ve busted my ass to protect humankind from monsters beating down our door, yet nobody seems to give a shit.>

Even if Gretchen wasn't directly beside the girl she was able to hear everything she was saying. This was basically due to the fact that the witch was connected to her barrier in every way; so what the barrier felt and heard the witch would feel and hear as well. The names Kagami was calling for meant nothing to the witch, no change in the force of her barrier as it continued to try and pull Kagami in anyway.
Then, a final name was heard. and though it was spoken so quietly, Gretchen instantly zoned in on it.
"H...Homura...?"Her voice trembled as she repeated the name, slowly a glare forming across her face. Now she needed to see who this girl was, why she was saying that name. She wouldn't be able to see her or deal with this until Kagami was inside of the realm, and now that instantly became Gretchen's main goal. There was a roar heard as the barrier's energy seemed to increase, tugging harder and harder on Kagami's body as it tried to force her into the labyrinth.
Tumblr media
Ripped Out of Time (@pythonissamsalus)
The moment she could stand, Kagami tried to turn around and run in the opposite direction, to resist the barrier’s inexorable pull… but not only could she not run away, she couldn’t so much as walk, or even take a step, unless it was toward the barrier…
Tumblr media
“Nnnngh… dammit, what the hell… is going on…?”
Taking a risk, she called out to the wind, to the wasteland that lay all around her. She hardly expected an answer, but she had to try…
“Hey! Is there anybody here…? Can anybody hear me? Tsukasa? Mom? Dad? Konata…?”
She shivered in the silence that followed, rubbing her arms to quell a sudden outbreak of goosebumps. The next name she called out was spoken very softly, at almost a whisper.
"… Homura…?"

Once Holger was successfully destroyed, all of the music in the barrier silenced. But Gretchen didn't have an opportunity to enjoy this with Asumi still standing; still mocking her and acting in a way that the witch could hardly understand or predict.
It was so unlike other magical girls and it was so utterly frustrating for the witch that she needed it to end as soon as she could. She was tired of playing this game.
Unfortunately, though probably expected, it seemed Asumi wasn't going to end it for Gretchen that quickly. For as the dust of the battle with Holger cleared, she was gone. She spoke up right away, however, quickly directing the witch's attention to another part of her throne room where Asumi resurfaced.
"You exist to question?" The witch scoffed out, "I already gave you my answers! And I can promise you that this is one world you will never be able to tear down. This is my heaven, and it could never be destroyed by anyone!!"
And then Asumi vanished and reappeared yet again, causing Gretchen to be forced to shift her attention elsewhere a second time. It caused an annoyed sound to come from her mouth as she did, glaring hard at the next projection of the puella magi.
"Becoming a witch is what you want? I'm sorry, here you will never have that chance. I won't give you that despair. I've decided what needs to be done, and you need to be stopped for salvation to exist!" With that, the witch concentrated her magic to form her bow; Gretchen's weapon of choice. She needed just to pull back on the bowstring for a dark pink arrow to form, one that was immediately shot in the direction of Asumi. If it would hit was something Gretchen couldn't yet predict considering the way the magical girl could move about her barrier so quickly, but at least it was a start of what the witch wanted. She was certain this would eventually end as she needed it to, even if annoyingly it may take longer than she'd like.
Tumblr media
The Only Way I Found Hope Was Through Despair
As the Holger were being mauled and the dust settled, Asumi appeared in a different local from where she had been sitting before.
Tumblr media
"Hahahahahahah, Such good questions to ask! Some have compared me to a god, yet I am not. I am just a wise-fool! I destroy, I point out the flaws in the carefully constructed societies of man! I will rebel against authority and poke fun at the overly serious. Maybe I am just in the mood to play with the Laws of the Universe! Hahah. I am my own worst enemy. I exist to question.  I simply appear when a way of thinking becomes outmoded and needs to be torn down and built anew. I am a Destroyer of Worlds.”
She then reappeared to a different location. It seems now she was using her illusionary magic to make projections of herself. A game of cat and mouse.
Tumblr media
"It’s really too bad that I am not yet a witch. We could be having so much more fun. Being a mere magical girl is boring. The only way I found hope was through despair. Hahahahahaha.”

The demon was probably right about Gretchen giving in eventually, though for now there wasn't any way the witch would admit to that or even accept it. She would be as stubborn as she possibly could, especially when all of this was something she so wasn't used to. It was foreign, uncomfortable and new, and combined with the odd feeling it put the witch's head and stomach through, she wanted to just avoid it all together.
New horror formed over Gretchen's face when she heard the devil's coos, creating a new wave of motivation to attempt struggling out of her arms yet again. "I-I'm--!! I'm not!!!" She stammered, naturally having to do so making her more embarrassed. She hated this attention, the comments, and the feeling of vulnerability but couldn't for the life of her figure out what she could do to make it stop. "I don't like you--!!! Leave me alone!!!!" She yelled, her voice squeaking comically as she did so. Even if she was a powerful witch, her voice was still identical to Madoka's. And with someone not fearing what she was, it made the overall threat of the salvation witch almost vanish completely.
She was starting to grow tired from all of her thrashing and struggling, so now she was left to stay in the demon's arms out of force. But that didn't make her bodily tension leave nor did her aggravated expression.
"I hate you." She insisted through clenched teeth, now hoping if she could stay stubborn long enough, perhaps that would make the demon leave her alone. And thinking about it sounded good, until she heard Homucifer completely ignore these new attempts with a suggestion Gretchen could never agree to.
"No!!!" She immediately snapped, glaring directly at the taller female. "I'm not M-Madoka, and I already told you I want you to leave me alone!!!!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♥- The demon didn’t expect Madoka’s witch variant to be very cooperative. Though she knew that considering the fact that underneath all that, the girl she knew very well was still there —-eventually she would be able to break the frustrated girls little charade.
Besides, she had an advantage, not only because of her strenght and persistence but just simply because of who she was. The girl was already flushed with a light shade of red so it definitely wouldn’t be long before she got her way.
” Awwhh look at you! You’re blushing~ Its so adorable.”The devil teased, giving the smaller teen a little squeeze in her arms.
" All the glaring and yelling and kicking isn’t going to hide those rosy little cheeks of yours !!" The hand that was rubbing the girls back reached up and patted her on the head, resting there after wards.
” And of course you want to know me. You love me, why wouldn’t you?”
” I know what would cheer you up. Perhaps a sleepover. ”
” What do you think Madoka?”

The fact that Homucifer still wasn't letting go coupled with the demon's obvious amusement to the whole situation only made Gretchen more frustrated. She continued to squirm about in the demon's arms, only leading to even more failed attempts of getting free. She understood now that she wasn't going to be let go by her own doing, but that didn't mean she wouldn't continue to try.
"I'm not acting! I don't like being touched!" Gretchen insisted, the slightest shade of pink forming on her cheeks --mainly out of her now appearing insecurity at the thought of not being taken seriously. "And I'm not-- I'm not M...Madoka." The name was difficult for her to say, that weird aching sensation from guilt and nostalgia happening as soon as the name was uttered out.
Her teeth clenched together as she glared as hard at the demon as she physically could, almost tempted to bite the finger that poked her if it weren't for the fact that she realized it probably would do little to deter the devil.
"I don't know you! If...if you're from back then, I don't want to know you!"
Tumblr media
♥- Even with the witch thrashing in her grasp, the demons grip didn’t slip even in the slightest. Her expression also remained at the same level of contentness, the smile staying put and even growing a bit in amusement. Madoka’s witch may act as though she were another—tougher and scarier-person, though it didn’t fool the devil in the slightest.
" Come now, theres no need to be so grumpy~!” Homucifer sang, gently petting the pinkette’s back.
" You’re little tough act isn’t going to phase me I’m afraid. You’re still my Madoka, even if you’ve given yourself another name.” A laugh escapes the demon as she pokes the girl on the tip of the nose.
” Even so, deep down in there you remember me as well, and I’m here to help you gain those memories back. We’re best friends after all…”

To say that the salvation witch wasn't in the most...relaxed state of mind was an understatement. It seemed ever since Homura's arrival to her barrier, Gretchen has been nothing short of an emotional wreck. Her barrier in turn became a more aggressive force, sucking in the world around it in a much faster rate than it ever did upon first being created. Nothing seemed to be safe from the witch's wraith, her sadness, anger, and jealousy fueling every single action that she did.
She could have never predicted that one part of her anger would appear now, that Kagami would somehow land herself right outside of the pinkette's realm. But by whatever reason this was the case, the barrier immediately doing its task of sucking in the world before it and using its strength to drive Kagami closer and inside.
For now, Gretchen had no idea that it was even Kagami that her barrier was trying to take inside, perhaps for the best.
Ripped Out of Time (@pythonissamsalus)
@pythonissamsalus
All she remembered was a flash of blinding light, a tearing sensation, a heavy impact… and then darkness.
Kagami moaned as she picked herself up, her long tiwntails spilling over her shoulders. She shook her head, put a hand to her brow to clear the spots from her vision, then looked up…
… to find little but a grey, dead wasteland for miles around, as far as the eye could see. What few remnants of buildings and human civilization there were left were crumbling, teetering on the edge of collapse. All was silent save for the low groaning of the wind…

"Wh… what… what the hell…”

muses-of-despair-and-hope replied to your post “((Devil Madoka isn’t exactly my muse so I guess technically the “self”...”
In my point a view.... She'd probably end up like that new Maleficent movie with Tatsuya...
((omg that's actually cute =3=
I never thought about how Gretchen would be if she met a family member! Obviously she'd see them as familiar and that would make her a little crazy, but other than that I don't know!))

The witch was currently outside of her barrier, something she was capable of doing, but it was also rare for her to actually do so. The outside world was so filled with misfortune in the salvation witch's eyes; so much so that it grew overwhelming for Gretchen when she was faced with it head on.
Tumblr media
She stopped moving the second she heard the familiar Incubator's voice, her expression hidden by the shadow of her bangs.
"This world..." She murmured, "T-there's too much despair...it's become such a horrible place."
"I hate it."

"Different person?" Gretchen immediately asked, her voice snapping out much sharper than any of her words so far had been. Because she had no idea what the demon meant by saying that, she was nearly concerned that it wasn't a real answer --something given just to attempt pacifying the witch. Of course if that were actually its intention then naturally it didn't work, Gretchen only growing annoyed from it.
But whatever it meant, true answer or not, it was obvious that somehow they were connected. Something about that name hurt Gretchen so strongly that she knew it couldn't be nothing.
And then there was a new question, and while the witch didn't enjoy the subject of conversation being changed when she wasn't yet satisfied, she still planned on answering. She didn't see any harm in doing so.
"Witches come from magical girls." She spoke this in a cold tone, expression showing no feeling to the fact. Because of the puella magi system she realized she was born from a magical girl as well, but it was just something she knew without really thinking about it. She couldn't remember anything of that past, and had no actual desire to learn about it, either. She had clearly failed at protecting this world as a puella magi, so Gretchen felt she would be more successful as a witch, anyway.
"Why are you asking me?"

"We may have met before, but that was in a different lifetime, when you where a different… person."  She couldn’t bring herself to say anything else, while this was a witch this was still madoka, or at least what was left of her.  She had been so quick to criticise Kyoko for caring about octavia but now she found herself in the same predicament.  Perhaps, it is only now she became aware of the glass house that surrounded her.  "Tell me gretchen, do you know where witches come from?"

She was ready to react but was never given the opportunity to, as Holger formed and powerful classical music filled through the salvation witch's barrier. Naturally, it did nothing to soothe Gretchen, though it did manage to hesitate her reactions for a few moments mainly out of confusion to the situation. She watched as Asumi sat beside the copied familiar, snapping out of her momentary hesitation to glare at the magical girl once more. She didn't care about other witches; hating most of them anyway for conflicting with the world Gretchen wanted. She didn't want them brought up in her heaven, and she had no desire to see what they had in their barriers within the world of her own.
Even more so, she felt this was a continued mockery of herself. Asumi clearly wasn't taking Gretchen seriously; she wasn't fearing her, nor was she giving respect to the salvation witch that Gretchen so believed she deserved. Even initiating a fight with her would feel more respectful than this, because at least it was expected from a magical girl. Asumi was treating all of this as it was just a game, the words that she spoke earlier ringing through Gretchen's mind again.
She will not play with me. She thought to herself, her body growing hot with her inner anger. I'll show her that salvation is not something to be played with!
Gretchen made no moves; no calls or flickers of magic, but it seemed as though the barrier itself had a mind of its own that was able to read into the witch's emotions. For within that moment, a hoard of Gretchen's familiars --monstrous black cats, came out of seemingly nowhere to maul Holger. There was a loud screech from the familiars as they gave their attack; scratching, biting, and gnawing all with the intention of ceasing the music and destroying the source of it.
"What is your purpose for being here!?" The witch yelled, now ready for action instead of observation. It seemed she had already made up her mind on this girl and was ready to do what she believed was needed to be done. "Do you want to fight me? Do you want to stop salvation!?"

"There was once a Mermaid witch that I spent sometime watching. Her entire labyrinth was nothing but classical music. There’s something beautiful about the power of song…Wouldn’t you agree Gretchen-sama? I think it that it’ll make you feel much better to hear some music~ Now let me recreate that Mermaid’s beauty! It shall be quite nice. I made sure to study her very well. I hope you do enjoy the song!" Asumi said with a smile on her face.
With a snap of her fingers, several imperfect copies of Oktavia’s Holger familiars appeared. “Now my friends, how about we play something appropriate for a time like this? Oh yes! Let’s play my personal favorite an Ode to Friendship!”
The music began to slowly play and Asumi bowed when Gretchen’s voice rose. Asumi then began to copy the hand movements of a conductor, more in a mocking manner than seriously. She than sat on the ground and began to sing the second verse from Beethoven’s fourth movement.
“Freude, schöner Götterfunken. Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heiligtum! Deine Zauber binden wiederWas die Mode streng geteilt; Alle Menschen werden Brüder, Wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.”
