NIGERIAN YOUTHS ARE PROTESTING AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY IN NIGERIA
In case you don't know what's going on in Nigeria right now;
Nigerians, nationwide are protesting against police brutality and demanding for the removal of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a.k.a SARS, who are known for terrorising, raping, kidnapping, and unlawfully arresting Nigerian youths, regardless of age.
Despite the protests being peaceful, many Nigerians have been shot to death by SARS and many police officers. A ten year old boy was killed during the protest. Ojabodu Ademola was unlawfully arrested and framed for the murders committed by the Nigerian Police and was tortured in prison. Although he has been released, he has a swelling in his brain and can no longer control his fingers.

Many have lost their lives in what was supposed to be a peaceful protest. The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has failed to comply with the wishes of the people and the Federal Government has now banned protests in Nigeria. What about our rights?

show lesbians of color the same love, admiration and respect you show to white lesbians. listen to lesbians of color, love us without fetishizing us, befriend us and protect us, boost our voices and stop automatically seeing us as even more “aggressive” or “mean” for speaking up. we’re tired and we want respect.

Only Us
.
Don’t meet me in a library. Because I might spend all my time looking at the old and worn books whose pages have been torn and then glued back in together. The books which have the names of all those various people who owned them at some point or other, writing their names on the front page while crossing out the names of their previous owners.
You will have to sit by my side and help me find that one book which is unread and completely unmarked, without trace of any history lurking in between unknown pages. But oh! It’s a library where every page of every book has been turned millions of times and the words they hold are the words I wish to speak. So wait until I find the perfect book to eloquently describe everything I wish to say to you.
I will probably bring out that particularly old paperback which has been mended so many times now that doesn’t even smell like an old book anymore, it’s overpowered by the glue they have so frequently used to keep the pages from falling apart at the slightest of touch. This is the book which holds the answers to all the secrets of the world, the one which everyone reads at some point of their lives looking for answers they can’t find anywhere else. So as you sit by my side I will read out loud everything it says and somewhere in the middle of this I will sneak in some of my own words, saying things I might not have said otherwise and you will be none the wiser.
But then sometimes I think if any book ever written can even remotely describe anything I feel and everything I would like to say to you. And that is why I say, let us not meet in a library.
Meet me somewhere which is not in between the lines of a page or between the spaces of words. Someplace where the pages have not been drenched in tears and where the spines of the books haven’t been broken.
Maybe meet me someplace where there are just no books and only us.

Beginning ends
.
It was only once that I needed to kiss you
To know we could never make it through.
.
It was cool and calming
Looking into those sad eyes
For the very last time.
Hushed words dripping honey
Momentarily curing us
Of the maddening insanity.
With firm hands under your chin
At moments it was impossible
To ignore those eyes so grim.
Memories of butterfly kisses
From your eyelids to your nose
I knew I still loved everything
From your head to your toes.
I had once believed I'd burn for you
But I guess I had spoken too soon.
.
I saw our distorted silhouette
In the flickering golden flames
And the ghastly silver moonlight
Filtering in through the drapes.
Faint shadows ushering the dawn
I wished I had said something
Before all our time was gone.
With deadly silences eating me up
I could never say anything of worth
But an apology never did any good.
So, I left way before you could.
.
And it was the last time that I kissed you
I knew for certain this was all we could do.
.
