even if you take motaz entirely out of the picture, are you missing the fact that aid that was meant to go to sudan went to gaza? does that not raise any alarms for you? are you missing the fact that the country responsible for that (egypt) has been treating its sudanese refugees so poorly? have you ever looked at what egyptian nationalists say about sudanese refugees and how they're blaming our economic crisis on them and not on our disgusting leaders? do you know how sudanese refugees are living here? and you have the nerve to argue with a sudanese person for bringing that up?
frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.
like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!
I think so much about what Aang’s spirit must have felt and what his reaction would be as Korra watched Jinora at her tattoo ceremony. Like after the trauma of finding out his whole culture and community was killed in a genocide by the fire nation and after raising his son Tenzin as the only other airbender he knew.
And if my knowledge of the timeline is correct I don’t think Aang’s spirit could have seen Tenzin’s airbender children because Korra only started interacting with them when she was 19, the start of season 1 of lok.
So I feel like that tattoo ceremony scene could have been a great opportunity to show Aang’s reaction to the first air nomad ceremony in almost over 200 years 😭😭
I envision a really emotional flashback sequence for him as he remembers the literal mass grave of his community vs the young Jinora surrounded by all the new airbenders. It’s not the same as it used to be but I think he would have so much love for the new contemporary air nomads
