I seem to have a thing for giant girls in cities

the biggest piece I've done lately, acrylic portrait I did in art class.

random and old doodles because i haven’t been making anything since school started. At least I have been doing things in art class, but it has me thinking about me as an artist. There are so many artists who are able to make better looking work than me, and it confuses me to know that so many will have like less than five years of experience. I always thought that more years of experience will guarantee better skill and that i’m still young so i’m not that great yet. But the thing is, i’ve been drawing for as long as i can remember. but the OTHER thing is, i will draw as a hobby on pretty rare occasion. and hearing certain artists say that they draw everyday made me realize that actually, i don’t like making art that much 😂 but then this has me wondering why it’s a been a clear choice of life path for me, why i feel good in the process, why i get happy thinking about becoming a great and influential artist, and why it’s an identity i’ve held onto all my life. As a hobby, i pretty obsessively indulge in all forms of art and media consumption. it leaves me not knowing what to do or become. I want to know what strengths my life long experience in drawing has given me. from observation i think this means i am more comfortable in different styles and areas of art, because i see lots of good artists (mostly friends) who will draw the same thing again and again and therefore cannot create a realistic portrait, or (vice versa) a stylized and fun design. admittedly the constant comparing does lower my hope and self esteem, but i won’t let this stop me from improving further. if only i could be paid to enjoy other people’s creations and simply be inspired
