Teeth grate together, an UNPARALLELED ANGER burning in the space between bones. The spirit’s familiar form draws a deluge of memory from the depths, tainted red around the edges, bitter on his tongue.

❝It would seem time has not been kind to you.❞

“Time means little to me here.” But he’s sure he looks far different from the last time Ardyn saw him, millennia ago... One would be hardpressed to call him human now.

"Were you seeking the truth of my Tempering Grounds or the other legends that lay within this scarred earth?”

Gilgamesh was always so dry and emotionless in his reactions, he did not even notice how much that amused Somnus. The young prince was grinning widely as he mounted his Chocobo.

“You make me walk? Is that not against the law or something?”

Not that Somnus was lazy, he just liked teasing Gilgamesh a little for these instructions. In truth he could not wait to finally be in the hills and forests and scout for any prey they could find. He enjoyed every second of these hunts.

“But surely we will need the Chocobo and Enkidu alone to transport all the game I will hunt down, right?”

“Endurance can be more important than strength and if you don’t take opportunities to train more than your swordsmanship, you’ll fall behind your brother.” He spoke coolly but a smirk tugs at his lips.

He slung his bag across his back and gestured with his chin for Somnus to follow as he began to walk. “Enkidu isn’t coming. He’s in an aggressive mood and he doesn’t know the people at the camp - so I’d rather avoid the bloodshed.”

He walks up behind her, silent despite his size. He’s been gone again for some time and wants to surprise her. So he places a ring of flowers upon her head. She was the one who taught him how to make the crowns but he’d never seen this type of flower in the area before so he hopes they might be new to her, something special.

“I’m home.”

“What?”

Somnus asked innocently, as he stood there holding the reins of his white Chocobo. It was saddled lightly, like on any usual hunt. Somnus dressed in his usual attire when going out for a hunt, too. He just was not sure whether this would be a hunt for some meat or a hunt for Daemons. Of course he was eager to join either.

“How do you even get that impression, Lord Gilgamesh?”

“A lucky guess. Stop calling me that.” While he has adjusted to being around the brothers and their lifestyle, he did still hate being referred to with titles as well. He would always be a mercenary at heart.

He touched each of the throwing knives he had strapped to his belt to ensure they were all in place. “There’s a camp not far; we’re going to trek there and hunt the area. You won’t do anything for your stamina if you ride the whole way.”
