The new chapter was beautiful. The only thing im upset about is how fast its going. Spoilers for 98
Phos telling them all he could make them immortal slaves, and could kill them over and over as he pleased was vindicating, and knowing that phos has this power and is choosing not to abuse it for revenge further solidifies how kind phos really is.
But it happened too fast. It feels unfufilling because nothing changed in that time, and while thats kind of expected it doesnt make it any less unsatisfying. All of these characters were having huge realisations about themselves and their world afew chapters ago, and they go on and do... Nothing? Especially euc and cinnabar who seemed to be the most reluctant to accept their new situations.
Everyone elses character arc feels half assed and incomplete and i hate that feeling. I can only see one satisfying conclusion to this story and im kinda worried im going to be disappointed in it.

Ok so the lotus pod thingy from the first lunarian was really sticking with me and i couldnt quite place why. But it just clicked right now, that phos' revenge fantasy wasn't representative of the most "human emotion" (revenge) . Thats the most LUNARIAN emotion, and of course they'd see it as the most "human" emotion, theyre the only humans that never moved on, and thats what their hearts are full of. And we're literally SHOWN this!
When phos craves revenge he mimics the lunarians, and that says alot about how Achmea sees the lunarians. To him, they're still human in some way, he's unable to realise that its not a human trait, its a shitty person trait, and he, like the rest, are all shitty people. (save for cicada, man has never done anything wrong ever)

Theres so much nuance to cairn and ghosts relationship and i think people love to downplay cairns part in it.
Cairn continuously did dangerous things that put himself and ghost in mortal peril. That was literally our introduction to him. He was selfish because he kept forcing ghost into situations he didnt want to be in. He was a nuisance, he was selfish and he was bratty. He never thought before he acted. (when giving phos lapis' head he said he KNEW no one was coming back from the moon, but before that he put ghost quartz in danger because he wanted to "save lapis"?) i know he was suicidal, thats a big point for him in his earlier chapters, but neither of them wanted to compromise on their situation. Ghost didnt feel safe enough to do so, and cairngorm was too immature to try. They were both serious victims of their circumstances, and if anyone brands ghost as a bad person for trying to keep themselves alive, i will hit you with the manga until ive beaten some sense into you. Cairns situation sucked, but idk why people have to gloss over ghosts trauma to make cairn more of a victim than they were.
Anyway i was really hoping to see cairn and ghost talk about their situation from before but i guess the gems resolving anything without phos around is just not happening.

I feel like phos' design rn is super reminiscent of the first lunarian we see
Im mostly talking about the hands that seem to be covered in cloth, the fact his frontal lobr seems to have taken a trim, the lunarian is wearing the rings i believe are to represent the one behind phos, and i mean also, looking at it now, the lunarian has the empty lotus pod thing going on that we saw phos do before the last raid? So- its 5am for me im not gonna read the symbolism of phos taking a similar shape to that rn but theres something.

Adamant cares about Phosphophyllite way more than you think
Phosphophyllite losing their legs was a coincidence. An accident. It happens. Adamant is pissed off and scorns them for being careless and that’s that.
But then they lose their arms, and suddenly its not a coincidence anymore.
There are only a few moments where Adamant gets truly shocked and this is one of them.
But he isn’t shocked because Phos lost their arms, he’s shocked because he suddenly understands *why* its happening. That this is being done on purpose. He even admits that it’s his fault several times but nobody understands what he really means by it.
And then he has to watch them get destroyed over and over again.
By chapter 39 Phosphophyllite has become ridden with guilt and self hatred, and we see them driven to self harm because of it.
All part of their “journey” of course. And while the other lustrous panic, Adamant just kinda…
…watches.
He is compassionate, and this person he loves is suffering, because of him. Because he can’t let go. He loves the gems.
And a long time ago he was faced with a choice;
To Pray. To obliterate humanity’s descendants, and with them, end the suffering of existence.
Or
Stop praying. Stop the cycle. Just for a while. Just to give these beautiful creatures some time, however small, to live and suffer and be part of the wheel. A chance to briefly exist in this terminally ill universe. Because he loves them.
So he made his choice and he stuck by it for thousands of years. After all that time and all that suffering he still did not pray. Did not end the cycle.
But when he sees Phos in anguish, just for a moment…
he considers it.
