Main Story: Into the Wild (Part 2)
Tumblr media
In a deserted clearing, an old gray molly sat alone, staring up at the lone half-moon. The stars were murky as dark clouds drifted by, creating a gloomy fog of unease within her. From the shadows she could hear the faint sounds of breathing, soft and even as sleeping cats dreamed away the night without a clue as to her thoughts.
The camp was so still, that when a tortoiseshell cat did emerge from the darkness, the gray molly’s fur prickled with surprise. No words were exchanged between the two as the tortoiseshell settled beside her.
Tumblr media
The gray cat dipped her head in greeting. “How is Mousefur?” she softly asked.
“Her wounds are deep, Bluestar,” the tortoiseshell answered. “But she is strong; she’ll heal quickly.”
“And the others?”
“They’ll all recover too.”
Bluestar sighed, relief revealing itself in the way her head and shoulders fell. “We’re lucky to not have lost anyone this time. You are a gifted cleric, Spottedleaf.” Her blue eyes flicked up to the moon, straightening herself up. “I’m sorry you weren’t able to attend the half-moon meeting.”
Spottedleaf couldn’t help but purr in amusement. “It would’ve been an awkward and unusual one. I wouldn’t have been able to look at Mudfur with a straight face, now would I?”
Her attempt at a joke was met with silence from Bluestar. Spottedleaf’s face fell, the molly looking down at her paws before brushing her tail over Bluestar’s flank. “Bluestar?”
The gray molly shook her head. “I am deeply troubled by tonight’s defeat. ThunderClan has not been beaten in its own territory since I became leader,” she admitted, ears flattening. “These are difficult times for our Clan. The season of newleaf is late, and there have been fewer kits. ThunderClan needs more warriors if it is to survive.”
“But the year is only just beginning,” Spottedleaf pointed out, nudging her leader and offering her an assuring gaze. “There will be more kits when Greenleaf comes. There always are.”
Bluestar glanced back at her. Her dull expression seemed to brighten just faintly, and she’d sigh again. “Perhaps…” She smiled back at the tortoiseshell, thankful for her kind ear. “Training our young to become warriors takes time though.”
“I can only imagine you’re eager to make Graykit an apprentice then?” Spottedleaf purred playfully.
“Training will encourage him to listen for once, that’s for sure. He certainly didn’t get his father’s manners.” Bluestar couldn’t help but chuckle. Her ear twitched, a purr rumbling in her throat. Her weariness seemed to have eased, and she'd give a dip of her head to the cleric. “Thank you.”
Spottedleaf nodded back, before looking up at the dark sky. She tilted her head in thought, watching as another star was covered by the rolling clouds. “Are you asking StarClan for answers?”
Bluestar paused before nodding. “It is times like this that I’d be reassured by words from our ancient ancestors.” She narrowed her eyes and cast a glance at Spottedleaf. “Though I suppose you may have spoken to them had tonight not been interrupted.”
“Details, details,” Spottedleaf purred, flicking her tail dismissively before laughing. “StarClan hasn’t spoken to me in some moons, Bluestar. I wouldn’t…”
Suddenly, a shooting star blazed over the sky, Spottedleaf freezing as if time had stopped. The fur on her back bristled, and her amber eyes were wide, not daring to look away.
Bluestar’s ears pricked, but she remained silent as Spottedleaf continued to gaze upward.
Tumblr media
After a few moments, Spottedleaf hung her head low. Her eyes flicked back and forth, before she rapidly rose and turned to Bluestar. “It was a message-” she whispered breathlessly. “-from StarClan.” Spottedleaf’s gaze was unfocused, her pupils shaped like the full moon.
“Fire alone can save our Clan.”
“Fire?” Bluestar stared at Spottedleaf incredulously. “But fire is feared by all the Clans! How can it save us?”
“I do not know.” Spottedleaf’s voice was hollow, though as she shook her head, she blinked rapidly and seemed to regain some semblance of focus. “But… this is the message StarClan has chosen to share with me.”
A twisted feeling settled in Bluestar’s belly. She looked out into the dark woods, their endless unknowns taunting her with the secrets they held each and every day. Yet as she turned to look back at Spottedleaf, she’d nod with acceptance. “You’ve never been wrong before, Spottedleaf. If StarClan has spoken, then it must be so,” she meowed.
“Fire will save our Clan.”

Main Story: Into the Wild (Part 1)
Tumblr media
A forest – an often-large expanse of area covered chiefly by trees and undergrowth. Its greenery was shadowed by the darkness of night, only alit by the half moon, which reflected but the sun’s sleeping gaze, yet none of its warmth. A forest like that was not unlike any other forest.
The forest – the place where four trees stood tall at its center, and a mouse may be victim to their claws. It was a place where not everyone roamed equal, a single leaf belonging to one group or another – four to be exact. Yes, the forest was divided, like the very trees at their center. And those who perhaps poked their noses too close might find harsh hisses and crass claws chasing them back, as no outsider was welcomed.
The forest – this forest – was their forest.
Tumblr media
The forest was alive this night. What was once silence was broken by sleek dark bodies leaping from the cover of the undergrowth, colliding with not all too different figures who lurched from the river’s water.
They were cats, all of them.
One side from the undergrowth, and the other from the river, the warring felines collided, spitting and hissing as the clearing would soon be filled with the sounds of battle.
Tumblr media
“Oakheart!” At the center of the frenzy, a massive dark brown tabby would pin a reddish-brown cat, who still dripped with water. The tabby snarled, claws digging into the wet cat’s shoulders. “How dare you hunt in our territory? The Sunningrocks belong to ThunderClan!”
A glint of amusement flashed in the red cat’s eyes. “After tonight, Tigerclaw, this will just be another RiverClan hunting ground.” His voice was smooth and calculating. He whisked his tail underneath the tabby, right as a warning yowl echoed from the shore.
“More RiverClan warriors are coming!”
Tigerclaw’s amber eyes looked up to see the sleek, wet bodies emerging from the black water, leaping into the fray without even pausing to shake themselves off. Distracted by the new arrivals, Tigerclaw would hiss as Oakheart’s back paw raked down his belly, forcing him off the tom. As the two enemy warriors stood across from one another, Tigerclaw curled back his lip and snarled.
“You may swim like otters, but you and your warriors don’t belong here!”
The desperate cry of a molly caused Tigerclaw’s ear to prick. A stone gray RiverClan tom had his clanmate pinned down underneath him, teeth dangerously close to her neck. With a small growl, Tigerclaw turned his back on Oakheart, rushing to the molly’s side. He knocked the enemy warrior away from her, eyes flashing as he yelled.
“Quick Mousefur, run!”
With a deep gash in her shoulder, the dusky brown molly winced as she pushed herself to her paws. Almost tripping over herself, she managed to hurry away, Tigerclaw relaxing as she disappeared back into the bushes.
But in the thick of battle, one could never relax. The RiverClan tom fought back, his large and muscular frame making him stand out amongst his RiverClan brethren. Challenging Tigerclaw’s own strength, he forced himself up, raking his claws across Tigerclaw’s face. Tigerclaw spat with rage as the bridge of his nose was sliced open. Blood blinded him for an instant, but that didn’t stop him from lunging forward. He sank his teeth into the hind leg of his enemy, and despite his size, pulled his weight out from under him, and dragged him over the forest floor. The gray tom hissed in pain, managing to struggle free before racing away. Tigerclaw stood up, raising his head triumphantly.
Tumblr media
“Tigerclaw!” The yowl for his name made the dark tabby tense, the familiar voice causing his fur to lie flat, and his body to straighten. He was immediately at attention, as he looked up to see a tortoiseshell tom with a tail as red as a fox. “There are too many RiverClan warriors. We have to retreat!”
“No Redtail!” Tigerclaw yowled back. “ThunderClan will never be beaten! This is our territory!” Blood dribbled from his wounded muzzle, droplets scattering as he shook his massive head in defiance.
But alas, Redtail’s gaze didn’t waver. “ThunderClan will honor your courage Tigerclaw, but we cannot afford to lose any more warriors.” His voice seemed to want to convince Tigerclaw, but his own look of frustration betrayed the warrior shame he felt in losing this battle. Still, the tortoiseshell raised his head high as he looked around at the warring frenzy. “Bluestar would never expect her warriors to fight against these impossible odds. We will have another chance to avenge this defeat.” He met Tigerclaw’s amber gaze steadily, before springing up onto a boulder at the edge of the trees.
“Retreat, ThunderClan! Retreat!” Redtail yowled. His words caused an immediate shift in the battle. At once his warriors squirmed and struggled away from their opponents. For a moment, the RiverClan cats looked confused. Was this battle so easily won? Oakheart pushed his way forward, raising his head as he let out a cry of victory. The gray tom from before quickly joined him, followed by the rest of their clanmates. With a flick of his tail, Redtail led his warriors back into the thick of the forest. ThunderClan slowly disappeared into the trees, though not without disappointed glances and flicks of lashing tails.
Tumblr media
Tigerclaw followed last. He stood at the edge of their forest, glancing back at the bloodstained battlefield. His face was grim, eyes furious slits. And as he looked back at their forest, he leaped after his clan, disappearing into its shadows.
The forest was theirs, and they held onto it tight. It was a place where not everyone roamed equal.
The forest was divided, never belonging to one.
The forest was dangerous, and those who came too close might find harsh hisses and crass claws chasing them back.
As no outsider was welcomed.

Note
I never heard of Robin, Cranberry, and Gorse in WindClan. Are they OCs? If so, why were they added?
They are not OCs - rather they are renames/additions of cats from Warriors media.
Robinwind is just Robinwing from WindClan, who appears in Dawn during The New Prophecy. The suffix of -wind was chosen due to its similarity and being a small haha cause she’s WindClan.
Cranberrydust is derived from Cranberrypaw - a Su Susann character who was retconned out of canon when Su Susann’s word was no longer taken as true. However, many of Su Susann’s stuff did remain true - with characters like Lynxkit, Elderkit, and Tulipkit. Cranberrypaw was utilized for genetic diversity, as WindClan had a large problem with that.
Gorsebrook is the male Gorsetail who appears in Dawn during The New Prophecy. I changed his suffix because Gorsetail in Power of Three (who has a half-clan relationship with Beechfur in canon), is relatively important, and I like to avoid confusion in tagging them.
I hope that helps! All characters within the story are derived from canon, or at least canon adjacent characters.

Welcome to Power of Twelve!
Power of Twelve began over five years ago as a rewrite of the Power of Three and Omen of the Stars series of the Warrior Cats books. Over that time it has garnered hundreds of fans who engaged with the work and continued to delve deeper into its concept. It was a simple question.
What if every clan had cats with the power of the stars in their paws?
What began as something small became something so much bigger. The scope of Power of Twelve was daunting, and yet fueled by a passion and love for these characters, my goal is to bring that story to life in a format that brings art and writing together to help it shine.
My name is Knot, and I'm a 23 year old cis woman who uses she/her pronouns. I have been reading Warrior Cats since I was 9 years old, and this is my dream and goal - to share the story of Power of Twelve through every arc.
My main blog is @notwarriorswiki where I do art and chat about cats. You can also find spoilers for this AU/Rewrite there. My main blog is @kestrelwing where I do my reblogs and replies. It's a lot of different fandoms there, not just Warrior Cats.
As a quick note:
I am never bothered by "Like Spam". Like as much as you want. It's engagement and that makes me happy!
I love Asks, so don't be afraid to send them. Feel free to use the Anon function, as I get it can be a bit daunting. I'll try to answer as many asks as I can.
I love seeing tags and replies in a post, whether that be reblogs or general chatter. That's never a bother.
Changes within this rewrite include:
Fixing the Family Tree in many areas to avoid pairings that are a bit too related for comfort.
Expanding on the familial bonds between cats. For instance, Graystripe and Willowpelt will interact as mother/son, and therefore also Graystripe and Darkstripe will interact as brothers.
Expanding clan culture, differentiating the clans, and showcasing new roles cats can aspire to be within their clan.
Greater focus on character arcs, and changing much of the narratives themes to address problematic elements.
Large overhaul of the plot, especially in Po3/OotS.
As time goes on, a Master Post will be made compiling information to make things more accessible for newcomers. However, if you've never heard of Power of Twelve before now, you're just fine. This series will be designed so that anyone, Warrior Cats fan or not, can jump in and read along without background knowledge.
Thank you, and I hope you enjoy Power of Twelve.
