the way taylor baited everyone into thinking it was about her ex-boyfriend joe alwyn basically throwing him to the dogs when there's like two songs about him is insane 😭
Joe deserves the world for the shit he has been dealing with since last year. She has been absolutely vile in baiting her fans against him after the break up and during this album's promotion. People really thought TTPD was a reference to his group chat with his friends when it was about Taylor and Matty's ~secret connection. Granted, her team might've warned her against promoting it with Matty knowing the backlash she got last year for dating him. But they still used Joe as a bait. Very well knowing she has a song confessing she emotionally cheated on Joe with Matty and hinted several songs from folklore and evermore were actually about Matty, which she hid under the guise of fiction. The absolute shamelessness of subjecting Joe to all of this humiliation??? Then again, at least that kinda cleared his name. Well, she still left things nebulous with the "cheating husband" mentions but honestly seems more like projection to me.
Her stans want to believe most of those songs are about Joe because they're not ready to confront the fact that they're mostly about Matty (including Part 2) would mean confronting why their fave is still obsessed and heartbroken over a seemingly 2 month relationship with a problematic asshole. I mean she said it herself. She "lost her twin". They're both toxic narcissists. If I was Travis and heard this album, where most of it is about decade long pining over her 2 month ex and the only 2 songs about him emphasize how she finds him dumb and shallow, I'd be walking my way out of the situation. But maybe he's gaining something out of the clout idk.
Anyway, I'm glad Joe got out and hope he has a good life. Her fans and the media need to leave him alone.

Sometimes I'm neutral towards TS. I don't mind listening to her music in the background or singing along some of her pop songs in gatherings. Sometimes I'm annoyed with how overhyped she is. But TTPD has activated some of my worst hater braincells. I know more about her than I ever wanted to know and since the music is so subpar, all I can focus on is her own changing portrayal of herself as a person, an artist and a phenomenon when compared to her peers and what that reveals about her core personality. That is, of course, aside from the weaknesses in her craft that I've thought were revealed long before this album, even in the time period when people started treating her like a "serious" artist.
I don't want to be thinking about this so much and yet. I guess I'm just mad that I wasted 2 hours listening to her new album(s) and how much I've been gaslit for resisting the idea that she's the greatest lyricist and how great it is that she writes her own music.

You have to recognize your capacity for harm. You cannot omit the harm you've done to others to remain "good." Anybody can be a bigot. Anyone can be an abuser. Anyone can harm anyone at any time even those who have been harmed themselves.
