Here, Mama Brickolini gives a rare glimpse into the near-dystopian food situation on LEGO Island. It is actually a brazen boast by the Brickolinis, since they have the monopoly on the food supply on the apparently isolated island and choose to only serve one food item that would not normally be considered the healthiest choice. However, there are a lot of factors at play, here. For example, is pizza the only thing Mama Brickolini is able to make? In her cutscene, it describes her coming to LEGO Island as an immigrant and only caring about two things–piano music and pizza. This means she was an outside force, along with Papa Brickolini, who seems to just be along for the ride. Mama Brickolini was obviously the mastermind in that operation, but how innocent was it, really? How did the residents of LEGO Island eat before she showed up? Did she make sure that LEGO Island Pizza would be the only source of food on the Island after opening? Drove out business with low prices, or perhaps something more sinister? What if the Brickster were framed? Nick and Laura seem capable enough to deal with small-town disturbances, but they don’t have much organization to take down a scheme such as this, and the Brickster is too obvious. What if the Brickster was once a proprietor for another eatery and he was pressured into escalating the issue enough to steal the Power Brick? What if he just wanted to exact revenge on the entire Island just because they are all complacent with the Brickolini reign?

Way back in the far off year of 2013, I was asked to create some new artwork for The Sonic Show’s appearance at Summer of Sonic 2013 in London. Thanks to the successful Kickstarter which enables the return of Summer of Sonic this year, I got to create even more art for this year’s convention as well!
Since the big event this year is the 25th anniversary, creating illustrations that celebrated some of the history of the series seemed like a fitting idea. After going through a few different sketches, we settled on these two drawings focusing on Sonic and Robotnik/Eggman.
These were both an absolute joy to make, and in my opinion do much more justice compared to the artwork I just kinda threw together for the 2013 convention at the last minute. I may not be able to attend SoS for myself, but getting to make stuff for the convention again totally makes up for that in my book!
