Twitter view counts start appearing prominently Making it easier to quantify how much of a banger your tweet was. | Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge View counts for tweets are starting to show up for some Twitter users — at least for their own tweets. On December 1st, Musk promised the feature would be coming for “all tweets, just as view count is shown for all videos,” an announcement he reiterated a week later adding that it would be coming “in a few weeks.” One Verge staff member has started to see a counter when he clicks into his posts. While a few other Twitter users have reported getting the feature as well, it doesn’t seem to be available to everyone yet (for example, at time of writing I’m currently not seeing view counts on any tweets besides videos). My coworker also says that he’s currently not able to see view counts on other users’ tweets. Screenshot:... WhatsApp adds undo button for your message deletion mishaps Accidental Delete grants users a five-second window to restore incorrectly deleted messages. | Image: WhatsApp WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to restore deleted messages on the platform. Accidental Delete grants users a five-second window to bring back messages, acting as a safety net for WhatsApp users to correct mistaken deletions or reselect how they want a message to be deleted. There are currently two options available for deleting messages on WhatsApp: “Delete for me” (which hides the message from yourself but keeps it visible for everyone else) and “Delete for everyone.” Previously, if a user accidentally selected “Delete for me” instead of “Delete for everyone,” there was no way to access the message and select the correct deletion option — a distressing situation if you need to remove something sensitive from a... Bird Buddy’s smart bird feeder snaps photos and identifies hummingbirds The birds get nectar — you get a picture of them. It’s a win-win. | Image: Bird Buddy Internet of Things devices and CES go hand in hand, but the Bird Buddy Smart Hummingbird Feeder is in a category that’s entirely new to me. Sure, I’ve been aware of devices that are meant to feed and monitor the animals that live inside your house, but I’m still somehow surprised (and delighted) to discover that there are companies doing the same for the animals outside your house as well. As its name implies, this device is meant to hang outside your house and provide delicious nectar to the local birds, and Bird Buddy says it’s designed specifically to prevent leakages and mold. But unlike the standard $20 or $30 hummingbird feeders, the Bird Buddy includes a motion sensor-activated camera that will take pictures and video when a bird... Peloton Stock Races Higher As Subscription Sales, Improving Free Cash Flow Offset Q2 Loss "If you’ve been wondering whether or not Peloton can make an epic comeback, this quarter's results show the changes we’re making are working," said CEO Barry McCarthy Peloton Interactive  (PTON) - Get Free Report shares moved firmly higher Wednesday after the fitness equipment maker posted a wider-than-expected second quarter loss but noted that its subscription business outpaced hardware sales as the group's turnaround continues to gather momentum.  Peloton said its adjusted loss for the three months ending in December, the group's fiscal second quarter, was pegged at 98 cents per share, well outside the Street consensus forecast of 64 cents share but inside last year's loss of $1.36.  Group revenues, Peloton said, fell 29.8% from last year to $792.7 million, but topped analysts' estimates of a $710.5 million tally as sales from subscriptions -- pegged at $411.3 million -- overtook https://fancyhints.com/peloton-stock-races-higher-as-subscription-sales-improving-free-cash-flow-offset-q2-loss/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Lululemon Stock Dives On Margin Squeeze Warning Even As Holiday Sales Show Firm Gains "In Q4, traffic remains strong across both physical and digital channels, and we anticipate delivering another quarter of solid earnings growth consistent with our updated EPS forecast," said CEO Calvin McDonald. Lululemon Athletic  (LULU) - Get Free Report shares slumped lower Monday after the high-end active apparel retailer warned that profit margins contracted sharply over the final months of the year. Lululemon said it sees fourth quarter revenues are likely to rise between 25% and 27% from last year to as high as $2.7 billion, a modestly higher tally than its December forecast, but noted that gross margins will fall between 0.9% and 1.1% , compared to its prior forecast of an increase of between 0.1% and 0.2%. The company noted last month that September quarter margins had narrowed as a result of elevated inventory levels triggering higher markdowns on a host of products. Elon Musk starts banning critical journalists from Twitter  Many accounts have been suspended. | Illustration by Kristen Radtke / The Verge; Getty Images Twitter has suspended the accounts of several prominent reporters on Twitter, such as The New York Times’ Ryan Mac, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, The Washington Post’s Drew Harwell, The Intercept’s Micha Lee, Mashable’s Matt Binder, Aaron Rupar, Tony Webster, and potentially more. A list of the suspensions is being compiled by NBC’s Ben Collins. Currently, it’s unclear why the bans are taking place. The reporters being banned largely cover technology, and most appear to have recently written stories on Elon Musk. “I have not received any communications from Twitter whatsoever, other than a notice at the top of my feed that I am permanently banned and in read-only mode,” said Rupar in an email to The Verge. “I have no idea what could have... According to SteamDB (a non-Valve affiliated database), Steam racked up 10,082,055 active in-game players and 32,186,301 concurrent online users — folks who were online, but not necessarily playing a game — on Saturday, January 7th, surpassing previous user milestones. In fact, Steam has already surpassed the record for concurrent online users in the last 24 hours since SteamDB’s initial announcement on Saturday, with a new all-time peak of 33,078,963 users being reported by the database website. Lenovo’s Mini LED monitors can charge some of the thirstiest laptops with 140W USB-C PD And they come in 27 and 31.5-inch varieties. | Image: Lenovo Lenovo has announced two 4K monitors using Mini LED tech, and they seem like very interesting choices for someone who wants a nice display but won’t be doing any hardcore gaming. The 27-inch ThinkVision P27pz-30 and 31.5-inch P32pz-30 come packed with 1,152 dimming zones, a bevy of ports, and even the potentially unprecedented ability to send 140W of power to a laptop — and despite the high price points of many Mini LED monitors, they’re both expected to cost well under $2,000 when they arrive in August 2023. You can connect to the monitors with a single USB-C cable, which Lenovo’s press release says can handle “40Gbps of data and video transfer.” That’s plenty for a 4K monitor running at 60Hz — in fact, Lenovo says you can even... Molson Coors Has an Answer to Coca-Cola and Pepsi’s Big Moves The beverage wars have become even more complicated and that means a lot of new choices for consumers. For a very long time, the soft drink giants and the titans of the alcoholic beverage world stayed in their lanes. PepsiCo (PEP) - Get Free Report and Coca-Cola (KO) - Get Free Report expanded into water, juice, iced tea, energy drinks, and packaged coffee but they stayed away from alcohol. The same thing was true in the other direction the major beer and liquor brands largely avoided the non-alcoholic market aside from dabbling in zero-proof beer. Those lines, however, have blurred in recent years and you can blame the ready-to-drink (RTD) market and hard seltzers. Think of RTD as "cocktails in a can," those beverages that make classic (and not-so-classic) bar drinks at your disposal without requiring any mixing. And hard seltzer, of course, has been a craze that every company has wanted a piece of, which led Coke to https://fancyhints.com/molson-coors-has-an-answer-to-coca-cola-and-pepsis-big-moves/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Your United Airlines Meals Are About to Get a Lot More Gourmet Thanks to a battle with Ellen Degeneres, the airline is planning a major upgrade Comedian and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres has had a mostly good-natured rivalry with United Airlines going on five years now. In early 2017, several celebrities and TV personalities publicly criticized the airline for the removal of a passenger from a flight after the United Airlines Holdings  (UAL) - Get Free Report company overbooked. On an episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", DeGeneres opened with her own thoughts about the incident. “There was a United Airlines flight in Chicago that was overbooked, and to make room for people, they forcibly removed one of the passengers — did y’all hear about this? It’s crazy, they charged him a $50 removal fee. That’s not true, that’s not true. No, your first forcible removal is free.” She went on to add, on a more serious note, that United should just not overbook its https://fancyhints.com/your-united-airlines-meals-are-about-to-get-a-lot-more-gourmet/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Lionel Messi beats an egg on Instagram The award he’s holding pales in comparison to the internet clout he just got. | Photo by Marcelo Endelli / Getty Images In addition to a World Cup and a full set of other soccer (aka football) awards, Lionel Messi has taken another crown: the person with the most-liked post on Instagram. The pictures he posted after the Argentine team won the 2022 men’s World Cup have racked up almost 64 million likes. That’s enough to beat the former record-holder, a stock photo of an egg on a white background with a caption that starts, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram.” The egg’s record has stood since early 2019 after it beat out a post from Kylie Jenner by racking up 19 million likes. TikTok’s parent company reportedly accessed US journalists’ data Illustration by Nick Barclay / The Verge An internal investigation at ByteDance found that several employees accessed TikTok data for two US journalists and a “small number” of other people connected to them, according to internal emails obtained by The New York Times. That data reportedly included the reporters’ IP addresses, which were used to see if they had been nearby ByteDance employees in an attempt to figure out who was leaking documents and information to the press. The report is the latest in a series of investigations that have turned up evidence of ByteDance employees in China having access to American TikTok users’ data and is coming out during a time when lawmakers are making moves to restrict the app. It also represents ByteDance walking back denials that it’s... Royal Caribbean Makes Big Deal to Fix a Passenger Pain Point Royal Caribbean cruise line has borrowed an idea that has become very popular among major Las Vegas Strip resort/casino operators. Boarding a cruise ship can be a laborious process. Parking can be a challenge because some cruise-ship terminals serve as the dock for multiple ships. There's nothing worse than leaving from one terminal in Fort Lauderdale but not actually being able to park near your ship. And, even at terminals where parking is plentiful, the boarding process can be a challenge in an older terminal. The new(ish) Terminal A in Miami, for example, was designed to handle the demands of the largest ships, with every technical bell and whistle along with a smartly designed passenger flow. Some of Royal Caribbean's (RCL) - Get Free Report older terminals lack that perfect flow between the parking lot, baggage screening, check-in, and boarding. That's something the cruise line has been investing in, but improving https://fancyhints.com/royal-caribbean-makes-big-deal-to-fix-a-passenger-pain-point/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Tesla Stock Has Struggled but Nears Major Support Tesla stock has struggled over the past few months but is approaching a major support area on the chart. What a disaster it’s been with Tesla  (TSLA) - Get Free Report lately. The electric-vehicle leader's shares are currently down for five straight months and for eight of the past nine weeks. The stock made 52-week lows on Tuesday and did so again on Wednesday morning.  Shares of Tesla are now down 55% in 2022 and have fallen more than 61% from their all-time high in November 2021. The stock is now trading at its cheapest forward price-to-earnings multiple since the company went public, but that doesn’t seem to be providing meaningful support. The predatory prison phone call industry is finally about to be fixed The average price of a 15-minute phone call from jail is around $3. | Photo by Michael Reichel/picture alliance via Getty Images A new rule allowing the Federal Communications Commission to regulate the rates of prison phone calls is one step closer to becoming law. After it passed through Congress last week, the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act of 2022 now awaits President Joe Biden’s signature. The prison phone call industry has been broken for decades, with telecommunications companies, like Global Tel Link and Pay Tel Communications, charging unfair fees for phone and video calls from inmates. These fees vary by state, but they involve the phone provider offering kickbacks to prisons and local governments using the money they collect from the friends and families of incarcerated people. The result is a $1.4 billion industry built on... This new Game Boy-inspired 8-bit game console is the size of a matchbox Image: Arduboy | The Verge The Arduboy Mini is the latest Game Boy-inspired handheld game console from creator Kevin Bates, the man behind the original Arduino-based 8-bit Arduboy. Measuring in at around two quarters in length (as shown in Gizmodo’s early review), this tiny gaming handheld offers many of the same benefits as the larger Arduboy despite its compact size, such as an OLED display, hundreds of open-source games, and an exposed design that encourages users to explore hardware hacking and coding. In fact, tinkering is so encouraged that the Arduboy Mini doesn’t come with a speaker or a battery built-in. Instead, the gadget comes with clearly labeled solder contacts for both a battery and speaker located on the exposed rear of the device. Otherwise, the...
