ahhhh hair as a metaphor for growth and freedom. Vyncent growing his hair out in prime because his mom used to always cut it for him and he can’t bear anyone else cutting it. But after a while he finds he likes it long, and learns how to do different hairstyles and braids

Dakota keeping his hair long normally. And when he cuts it he does it himself. Until one time he lets tide cut it, and after he’s so happy because it finally looks right. And everytime tides gone it gets longer and messier. In the timeskip it gets full of sticks and leaves. But the moment they find tide the first moment of peace after that, Dakota asks tide to cut his hair.

And William always used to have his hair cut the same way by the same stylist in deadwood. But after awhile he experiments with styles and different lengths. But overtime between all the hero work and loving in the Winnebago, hair becomes the least thing on his mind. His hair grows long and untamed full of knots and tangled. Washing it is too much effort and even brushing it doesn’t seem so important. He hated the white streaks and stops looking in mirrors. The only time it gets any attention is when William lets Vyncent brush and braid it, late at night, alone after an everyone’s asleep.
